By the rules of Rainbow Cloud Kingdom's Lantern Festival, once night fell, releasing a sky lantern meant the wish had been successfully made. Whether Heaven would grant it was another matter.
The three of them had spent the whole day sightseeing. When evening came, everyone gathered by the river outside the city to release lanterns.
Spring Lake, unable to sit still at home, followed the three of them over to watch the excitement.
One sky lantern after another was lit and slowly floated into the heavens. The people releasing them wore devout expressions, sincerely hoping their wishes would receive Heaven's answer.
Tang Yu and the other two lit their lanterns and released them as well.
Watching countless lanterns rise into the sky, Tang Yu recalled a poem he particularly liked and softly recited it.
"The east wind at night sends a thousand trees of flowers blooming, then blows them down—stars falling like rain."
"Fine horses and carved carriages fill the roads with fragrance. Phoenix flutes resound, jade wheels turn, fish and dragon dances last through the night."
"Moth-shaped ornaments, snowy willow pins, golden threads; laughter, Yingying, and hidden fragrance drifting away..."
When he reached that line, Tang Yu suddenly stopped.
The little Daoist, who had been listening in rapt attention, could not help asking, "Big Brother, did you write this? Is it not finished yet?"
"You want to hear the second half?"
Tang Yu asked with a teasing smile.
The little Daoist nodded hard. Xue Xiaoliang beside her also looked expectant, while Spring Lake stared at Tang Yu in disbelief.
"I searched for her a thousand times amid the crowd. Then, turning suddenly, I found her there, standing where the lantern lights had faded."
After Tang Yu finished with a smile, the little Daoist could no longer smile.
Wasn't Big
