Pfft!
Azazel teleported into the spherical Cerebro Room. Its walls were made of countless silver-white crystal plates. Beside Professor Charles stood a tall officer wearing a major's insignia, while a short, shifty-looking man with cropped hair crouched in a back corner.
Pfft, pfft.
As soon as Azazel teleported closer, a small Black soldier suddenly appeared beside him. Grinning to show his unusually bright white teeth, the soldier raised a submachine gun in each hand and opened fire.
Bang, bang, bang.
Azazel and the mutant, who had the same teleportation ability, kept blinking around the spherical Cerebro Room. It was the first time the Red Devil had met a mutant with the same power, and he burst into a cackling laugh.
"Never trained your blink rate? Heh-heh-heh. Your teleportation's slower than a tortoise."
Their rapid, continuous teleportation made the air thrum in a sustained buzz. Their blurry, flickering images strung together like a great dragon.
The mutant known as "Ghost," John, had always prided himself on his uncanny ability to appear and disappear at will. Now, all of a sudden, he moved like an old man on his last legs.
For every teleport John managed, Azazel could make seven or eight. The excitement he'd just felt quickly faded.
Azazel slowly drew the Adamantium Dagger. No matter how John teleported or where he ran, the red-skinned devil stayed right behind him.
The blade remained pressed against John's neck. Azazel not only kept up with his teleportation with ease, but seemed to see exactly where he was going, sticking close to his back.
"Damn it! Damn it!"
John ran farther and farther afield, teleporting through the basement, the rooftop, the plaza, the lab, nearby buildings, and every nook and cranny he could think of. But the red reaper remained right on his heels.
