"M-My lord?"
War Knight Rasputin stared in astonishment at Apocalypse emerging from the ruins behind him. He strolled out with calm composure, his armor spotless as new, yet something about him seemed subtly different.
At Apocalypse's wave, Rasputin bowed and took two steps back, dispelling the distorted vortex around them.
Boom!
The shield that suddenly shot in caved in the female knight's chest. She slammed heavily against the stone wall, coughing up mouthful after mouthful of blood as she stared at her master, "Apocalypse," in shock.
"Phew... turning into that big blue-skinned bastard really wasn't easy!"
Fine dust rustled down, coating Rasputin's armor and face. Her rather striking features were now a mess of dirt and congealed blood.
In her murky gray eyes, "Apocalypse's" figure changed bizarrely. Scale-like protrusions emerged across his body, his frame rapidly shrank, and his deep, resonant voice shifted into a sharp female voice.
"You... cough, cough, cough..."
Bang!
A "devil" with crimson skin and a long, sharp tail teleported into view. With a smug grin, he sauntered over to the red-haired woman, now blue-skinned and wearing a strange metal ring around her head, put an arm around her, and gave her a light kiss.
"Why didn't you go fool that big-headed kid?"
Raven rolled her eyes at her husband, then looked helplessly at Steve as he approached with his shield.
"Apocalypse is too big, and he's wearing heavy armor. I pushed my transformation as far as I could, but I was still a full size smaller. As for Stryker's son, someone with psychic abilities like his wouldn't be fooled by appearances."
"Cough, cough."
Rasputin coughed up two more mouthfuls of blood. She finally understood why "Apocalypse" had seemed off to her earlier—his proportions had been reduced by one size across the board.
