After leaving the library, Pheobe took Harley up to the tallest tower in Beauxbatons Castle.
Standing there, it was easy to look down over the whole Beauxbatons estate.
If visitors used the special magic permanently cast on the tower, they could even admire the beautiful scenery of the entire Pyrenees.
Time flew by, and soon evening arrived. Madame Maxime had prepared a sumptuous dinner in the castle's Great Hall.
Harley had to admit that the Beauxbatons Great Hall was decorated far better than Hogwarts'.
The ceiling at Beauxbatons was made of enchanted glass, which displayed random scenes from the Pyrenees.
Unlike Hogwarts, Beauxbatons didn't sort its students into houses. The walls of the Great Hall were carved with stories and portraits of the school's famous alumni, and decorated with flowers and ribbons.
According to Pheobe, the school believed this helped foster a sense of unity.
Though Beauxbatons didn't have houses, like Hogwarts, it served meals at long tables.
But since there weren't many people today, Madame Maxime moved the usual long tables to the edge of the Great Hall and set up large round tables instead.
The tables were already laden with steaming dishes, and even more delicious food appeared out of nowhere from time to time.
"Bouillabaisse, caviar, coq au vin, French blue lobster... Do you eat this well every day?"
As soon as Harley and Pheobe entered the Great Hall, Harley keenly caught Professor Slughorn's exclamation.
"Of course not." Madame Maxime's voice was much louder. Even Pheobe, standing at the entrance, could hear her.
"We have Nicolas to thank for lending us his House-elves. You have to understand, the House-elves at Beauxbatons can't make food this exquisite.
We usually prefer fish soup, croissants, tender lamb, and all sorts of desserts."
"Wonderful," Professor Slughorn exclaimed. "Much better than Britain.
