After putting away her luggage, Harley first made a quick check to see whether there were any monitoring spells in the room.
Once she was sure the ritual had elicited no response, Harley took out the Magic Mirror she carried with her.
"Devotee of Catastrophe and the Source of Calamity..." Harley quietly recited her honorific name and used the Magic Mirror to perform a Divination.
Traditional Magic Mirror Divination involved performing a ritual and petitioning a higher being for an answer.
Generally speaking, only beings at least as powerful as a Grounded Angel could respond to Magic Mirror Divination from anywhere in the world.
However, if a Sequence 3 Saint happened to be within the acceptable range of the divination, they could deliberately respond to it as well.
Of course, one could also choose to divine directly through the Spirit World itself, but the results were not as good as those of other forms of divination.
Harley had recovered much of her strength by now, so she could just barely use Magic Mirror Divination and respond to it herself.
Ten minutes later, through the automatic response of her Mythical Creature Form, Harley forcibly recalled the contents of the few pages of Roselle's Notes she had read.
"Only a tiny number of the characters are the same, but many of them look like they share the same origin, judging by their format." After ending the divination, Harley lay on the bed and pondered. "When I get back to Britain, I'll buy a Japanese dictionary and try translating them. But that raises questions about Emperor Roselle's origins.
"White Maple Palace has a French style, yet he used Japanese characters.
"No, it doesn't necessarily have to be Japanese. Just as the United States uses English, this writing system could have originated somewhere else..."
