When the word "wife" reached Uchiha Mikoto's ears, a blush spread visibly up her fair neck, like rosy clouds blooming across a snowy field.
Though she was a gentle young woman with no experience in love, she was also a decisive shinobi, not some helpless, simpering girl.
The Uchiha's boldness in love and hate was on full display in Mikoto.
She took a deep breath, forcing down the drumbeat of her heart, then lifted her still-flushed face.
Her clear eyes gleamed with defiance as she met Uchiha Ren's amused gaze. Her voice was steady.
"Even if you hadn't brought it up, I'd still have made you teach me!"
"Your ninjutsu, genjutsu, taijutsu, eye techniques... Everything you can do—I want to learn it all."
As she spoke, a sly glint crossed her eyes and the corner of her mouth lifted. "Then I'll beat you and see what you do about it~"
"Lady Mikoto, you're so greedy."
Ren chuckled, his arm naturally slipping around her slender waist.
Through her close-fitting combat uniform, his palm could clearly feel the firm, supple contours beneath the fabric.
Years of training had left her waist without a trace of excess flesh. Now it was slightly tense, its breathtaking curves outlined beneath his hand.
The intimate gesture made Mikoto's breath catch. Even through her uniform, she could feel the warmth and strength of his palm.
Her slender waist seemed small enough to fit in one hand as she rested in his embrace. Her curves fit snugly against him, revealing all the soft allure usually concealed by battle.
Mikoto bit her lower lip, her eyes glimmering.
The reproach on her lips turned into a soft, coquettish hum, half protest and half invitation.
This was a secluded spot where the young couple met in private. When they used to sneak off together, they would have Uchiha Yashiro or Uchiha Hazuki keep watch.
Now that they had made their relationship clear, they could skip much of the trouble of "secret meetings."
At least the two "lookouts," who had been force-fed plenty of lovebird displays, had finally retired with honors from their secret missions.
After a brief moment of affection, Ren let his hand slide down and gently took Mikoto's, leading her toward the shade of a nearby tree, where they could rest.
"During our spar, you used the Phoenix Flower Claw Crimson Technique, which seems to be an improvement on the Phoenix Sage Fire Technique, and the Uchiha Wind-Imperial Sword Technique, which combines a breathing style with swordsmanship."
He gave a concise account of their spar, his tone serious. "With enough effort, even ordinary shinobi can learn these techniques. For us, with the Three Tomoe, they aren't hard to master—and you've already gotten the hang of them."
"So what I'm going to teach you is a secret Uchiha technique I created myself—something no outsider could ever learn."
The Sharingan had three basic abilities: observation, copying, and hypnosis.
In a world with a low supernatural power level, it could easily serve as a cheat ability.
And in the kind of smutty romance novels everyone liked, it was a weapon that could beat anything.
Its wielder possessed extraordinary insight. They could observe the flow of chakra, cast and see through genjutsu, and copy taijutsu and ninjutsu that didn't rely on a Kekkei Genkai.
The same went for the B-rank Phoenix Flower Claw Crimson, which had evolved from the C-rank Phoenix Flower Fire Technique.
Even the Wind-Riding Sword Technique, which Ren had developed by incorporating Breath of Wind—one of the five foundational breathing styles of the Demon Slayer Corps from another world, obtained through the Cyan-White Stone Gate—into the chakra system, and which surpassed the Uchiha Jian Yue Yan...
Its foundations and movements couldn't escape the Sharingan's observation and reproduction.
"What kind of secret Sharingan technique? Look at you, so pleased with yourself."
Under the tree, Mikoto leaned over and opened the picnic box. She took out the breakfast she had carefully prepared, one item at a time.
Listening to Ren's confident explanation, the young woman's eyes unconsciously curved into happy crescents as she handed him a portion.
"It's still early. There's no rush to teach me. Let's eat first."
Mikoto ate in small bites, but her gaze kept drifting to Ren. Seeing him tuck into his food made her feel content.
Every so often, she poured him more juice or handed him a napkin. Ren accepted her care without hesitation, occasionally raising his eyes to exchange a smile with her.
The morning light was faint, and shadows swayed beneath the trees.
This human couple had gone from childhood sweethearts to lovers. Not far away, another pair was going through a much rougher time.
"Ayan—how am I supposed to live without you?!"
A wail ripped through the morning stillness, sending flocks of birds fluttering out of the trees.
The plump orange cat clung desperately to a tree trunk. Tears and snot smeared its face as its paws frantically clawed at the bark, as if it were experiencing a final parting.
High in the branches, the Silver-spotted Cat lay curled up gracefully.
Her moonlit fur shimmered in the morning sun. She lowered her jade-green eyes to the orange cat making a spectacle of himself below and sighed softly.
"What is this supposed to be?!"
The genjutsu Daju was caught in showed its deepest fear: the nightmare of being abandoned by Ayan forever.
In the illusion, it watched Ayan walk away without looking back, growing more distant with every step. No matter how hard it chased after her, it couldn't get close.
"You can't even break out of a simple genjutsu..." Ayan raised a forepaw and licked it leisurely.
"And you still think you can win me over?"
She sounded disdainful, but her tail swayed gently despite herself.
Her eyes never left the orange ball of fur below, wailing as if its heart were breaking.
Yet in her heart, she was thinking of Matatabi, the moonlight she had never seen.
The Overbearing CEO Falls in Love With Me was a romance novel that had truly done cats no favors.
After their meal, Ren watched Mikoto neatly pack away the picnic box, then obediently sit before him, ready to listen. A faint smile rose in his eyes.
He straightened his expression and spoke in a calm, clear voice.
"What I'm going to teach you next is a technique developed using the Sharingan's ocular power: Space Jump."
"A space-time ninjutsu?"
Mikoto had expected Ren to explain the finer points of the Body Flicker Technique. Her eyes widened, surprise in her voice.
"Is it like the Flying Thunder God, created by Senju Tobirama and brought to prominence by Namikaze Minato? A true space-time transportation technique?"
Ren raised an eyebrow and answered crisply. "Exactly. It's a space-time ninjutsu that catches opponents completely off guard, and only we Uchiha can use it, by relying on the Sharingan's ocular power!"
Over thousands of nights, Ren had been lucky enough to obtain a third-tier teleportation spell called Dimension Move from the world of Overlord through the Cyan-White Stone Gate.
It was a low-level spell, on the same level as Fireball. Only the caster could use it to teleport, it couldn't take them very far, and it was mainly useful for creating distance from an opponent or escaping.
Because Ren could learn and activate magic from another world by relying on his mutated Sharingan's ocular power, mastering it had been as easy as learning the Great Fireball. He hadn't struggled at all.
He then spent another two and a half years refining it. Only recently had he turned it into a standard Sharingan Eye Technique: Space Jump.
It would become another trump card for the Uchiha Clan, a bloodline technique that couldn't be copied by the Sharingan alone.
