The corners of Situ Xuan's mouth spread, revealing a smile tinged with mockery.

The sooner they left, the better. It saved him the trouble of cleaning them up one by one.

But those Sun Moon Academy students had long been holding in their ambition, waiting for a chance to make something of themselves. Each of them worked desperately, one person doing the work of three. As for those great families, they had been scared out of their wits by Vasha's Starlight Mark and wished they could send out the most talented children in their clans to prove their loyalty.
And so, those vacancies were quickly filled, those loopholes were patched in time, and those disturbances were strangled in the cradle.
Council Chamber.
Ever since the speakership system had been abolished, the entire Federation had become Situ Xuan's one-man court.
The positions with real power were all held by Situ Xuan's lackeys. From top to bottom of the Federation, there was not the slightest voice of resistance.
The Council Chamber was huge, able to hold meetings of over a hundred people at the same time. A massive crystal chandelier hung from the dome, illuminating the entire hall until it was bright as day. Federal flags hung on the walls, and nine military banners drifted gently in the breeze from the air conditioning.
There was only one chair on the dais. It was Situ Xuan's seat, facing the main doors, high above everyone else, looking down on all beneath him.
