Background / History

Decline and renewed ambition

Before meeting Situ Xuan, Mu Ye had lost much of his ambition to restore the Body Sect. His existing disciple, A Ruheng, possessed a pure Body Martial Soul and strong defensive abilities, but Mu Ye believed his kind, honest temperament lacked the aggression needed to lead the sect’s revival 95 96.

While cooking at his old friend Zhen Hua’s home, Mu Ye watches Situ Xuan compete in the Tianhai Alliance Tournament. The youth’s direct killing techniques, fighting instincts, and pure Body Martial Soul convince him that the sect’s future might depend on a natural combat genius rather than the costly restoration of a secret technique. He abandons his cooking and rushes to Tianhai City to recruit him 95 96.

Recruiting and training Situ Xuan

Mu Ye initially clashes with Peng Yunze over Situ Xuan’s education and prospects. Wu Zhangkong’s comparison with Shrek Academy and the Tang Sect provokes him into agreeing that Situ Xuan can attend Sun Moon Academy while receiving the Body Sect’s secret teachings 100 101.

He takes Situ Xuan to the sect’s stronghold in Tiantou City, where training emphasizes physical exhaustion, precise force application, and bodily awareness. Rather than replacing the youth’s existing martial arts, Mu Ye teaches him to integrate them through his Body Martial Soul. He also introduces his senior disciple as a sparring partner 117 118 119 120.

The relationship becomes mutually beneficial. Situ Xuan’s medicinal-bath formulas and body-tempering insights restore Mu Ye’s stalled cultivation and help other sect members overcome their bottlenecks. Mu Ye later recognizes that these contributions gave the Body Sect a path to survival 314 435 595.

Providing backing against stronger factions

Mu Ye visits the Spirit Pagoda while Situ Xuan challenges its trials, meeting Qiangu Dongfeng and Leng Yaozhu. His presence is a deliberate safeguard requested by Situ Xuan: a public reminder that the youth has a sect and a powerful master behind him 299 312 314.

When Shrek Academy attempts to punish Situ Xuan after a student conflict, Mu Ye defends him and openly challenges Yun Ming’s handling of the dispute. At a later dock confrontation, he declares Situ Xuan the only choice for the Body Sect’s next master and warns that attacking him means becoming an enemy of both Mu Ye and the sect 338 340 341 418.

Ocean voyage and the limits of his strength

Mu Ye intervenes in Little Red when a powerful sea-beast woman threatens the damaged ocean liners. Their standoff ends without further battle, and the sea creatures withdraw 477 478.

Afterward, he strikes Cai Yue’er and Zhuo Shi when they confront him over his intervention. Despite this display of dominance, he later reveals severe injuries from the confrontation and the earlier divine battle. He admits that he cannot defeat the sea-beast woman and leaves to recover 480 482.

During the voyage, Situ Xuan also explains that he joined the Body Sect for research, medicinal resources, and a legitimate master-disciple identity—not because the sect defined his martial path. Mu Ye accepts this without anger, though the conversation leaves him visibly emotional 453.

Conflict with the Tang Sect in Star Luo

A warning that someone intends to harm Situ Xuan sends Mu Ye into a fury. He deploys Little Red and overwhelms Hu Jie, a rank 98 Super Douluo associated with the Tang Sect and Star Luo Offering Hall 577 583 589.

Dai Tianling subsequently invokes the Tang Sect’s two Limit Douluo to pressure him. Mu Ye recognizes the suspicious timing of the supposed message but must weigh revenge against the danger to his recovering sect 594 595.

He declares death matches against the Tang Sect branch, defeats Hu Jie again, and carries out repeated attacks on its headquarters. By his fifth visit, he has destroyed its main hall, workshop, memorial tablets, and portraits of former sect masters. The resulting fear drives away disciples and business partners. Nevertheless, the two Tang Sect leaders deter him from killing Hu Jie and the remaining senior elders 596 607 608 609.

Later leadership and ascension

Over a subsequent three-year period, Mu Ye negotiates with the Federation military, Council, and rival sects to preserve the Body Sect’s inheritance and political position. The strain visibly ages him, while Situ Xuan’s medicinal formulas remain the sect’s central revival resource 733.

He later participates in major campaigns using his combined martial soul, battle armor, and mecha power. He counters Cai Yue’er’s self-destruction with layered defenses, assists Guan Yue and Dong Zi’an against an Origin Great Demon, and joins the defense against Abyssal enemies 799 833 877.

After absorbing the Demon Plane’s origin, Mu Ye becomes the first of the documented Federation powerhouses to ascend, reaching the Second-Level God tier 881 885.

Appearance

  • Physique: Broad-shouldered and heavily muscled; one detailed appearance places him above two meters tall. His body is repeatedly compared to an iron tower or precision-forged alloy 479 628.
  • Skin: Bronze, with a polished metallic texture produced by extensive tempering 479.
  • Hair and face: Upright, steel-needle-like short hair, sharply defined features, and a resolute expression 418.
  • Clothing: Usually practical rather than luxurious, including coarse cloth garments, fitted martial outfits, and a black combat suit. He also wears a crimson leather vest open over his scarred chest 170 299 418 434.
  • Later aging: His hair becomes partly gray and his previously straight back bends during three years of political strain 733.

Personality

Mu Ye is blunt, proud, and fiercely protective of his disciples. He treats threats to Situ Xuan as personal challenges and openly confronts stronger institutions on his behalf. That protectiveness becomes ruthless during the Tang Sect conflict, when he kills ordinary members based on affiliation alone 418 577 609.

His rough manner conceals considerable political awareness. At the Spirit Pagoda, he deliberately uses apparent crudeness as protective camouflage; Leng Yaozhu recognizes that he is observant and tactful rather than merely a stubborn fighter. He also detects Dai Tianling’s concealed tension and questions the plausibility of the emperor’s purported message 299 313 594 595.

As a teacher, he respects a student’s private opportunities. He neither demands the origins of Situ Xuan’s martial arts nor tries to seize them, instead offering guidance on their integration. His affection also has a playful side: he teases Situ Xuan about romance and considers matchmaking with Gu Yue 119 122 314 434.

Abilities & Skills

Body Martial Soul

Mu Ye’s martial soul encompasses the entire body and its functions, rather than a single body part 607.

  • Makes his own physique a comprehensive weapon and defensive foundation 607.
  • Allows him to defeat Cai Yue’er with a punch without releasing soul rings, equipping battle armor, or summoning a mecha 480.
  • Develops beyond ordinary human physical limits through understanding and control 607.
  • Provides the foundation for his eventual Second-Level God advancement 885.

True Understanding of the Body

A state of deep bodily perception and control, explicitly distinguished from a soul skill 119.

  • Sharpens perception and makes force application more precise.
  • Mobilizes blood and energy more efficiently.
  • Helps assimilate soul power and other techniques into a unified bodily foundation.
  • Mu Ye demonstrates its initial manifestation without using soul power 119.

Close-Quarters Combat and Instruction

Mu Ye teaches bodily awareness, distance, and precise control rather than relying solely on strength or speed 118 628.

  • Easily blocks Situ Xuan’s Dark Gold Edge and Beidou Hundred Rending Fists during their initial assessment 118.
  • Intervenes to stop a dangerous collision between Situ Xuan and his senior disciple 123.
  • Corrects Yuanen Yehui’s movements while effortlessly blocking and evading her attacks 628.
  • Emphasizes knowing both fighters’ reach: arm length, leg length, punching distance, and kicking height 628.

Ninth Soul Skill — Body: Heaven and Earth Longevity

His final soul skill activates through a red ninth soul ring and synchronizes his life force with heaven and earth 607.

  • Doubles strength, defense, and speed.
  • Produces dark-golden radiance and an immense surge of life force.
  • Temporarily raises his power from rank 97 through rank 98 to rank 99.
  • Its Limit Douluo-level output is a temporary enhancement, not a permanent cultivation rank 607.

Golden Body and Layered Defense

His Golden Body cultivation reinforces his martial soul, battle armor, and mecha defenses 799 877.

  • Uses Flawless Golden Body with Little Red and Four-Word Battle Armor to form layered barriers against Cai Yue’er’s self-destruction 799.
  • Later employs Undying Golden Body as the core of his three-layer combat system 877.
  • His condensed flesh-and-blood power contains no elemental energy in his attack against the Black Empress, differing from the elemental attacks her devouring abilities had suppressed 877.

Body Domain

His Four-Word Body Battle Armor releases a domain that enhances his own physique while suppressing other powers 877.

  • Increases physical strength, defense, and speed by 50%.
  • Continuously weakens nearby non-Body Martial Souls.
  • Suppresses Abyssal black mist 877.

Human–Machine Unity

Mu Ye combines his Body Martial Soul, Four-Word Battle Armor, and God-Rank Mecha into a mutually reinforcing combat system 314 877.

  • Mecha: Outer layer of attack and defense.
  • Battle armor: Middle layer that amplifies strength.
  • Body Martial Soul and Golden Body: Core physical foundation.
  • Renewed martial soul potential improves his compatibility with Little Red 314.
  • Eventually grants demigod-level combat strength approaching Quasi-god despite his cultivation remaining just below Limit Douluo 833.
  • Does not make him invincible: he explicitly admits inferiority to the five-hundred-thousand-year sea-beast woman 482.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Little Red — Fiery-red God-Rank Mecha, shown with a six-meter-tall frame. Amplifies Mu Ye’s power, carries heavy offensive and defensive systems, and can transform into a giant Mad Blade 478 583 833.
  • Four-Word Battle Armor: Body — Dark-gold armor with dragon-pattern reliefs; works alongside Little Red and his martial soul and releases the Body Domain 606 877.
  • Medicinal-bath formulas — Simplified formulas supplied by Situ Xuan that revive Mu Ye’s martial soul potential and become essential cultivation resources for the Body Sect 314 595 733.

Relationships

  • Situ Xuan — Disciple, designated successor, and later a source of cultivation guidance. Mu Ye provides resources and protection; Situ Xuan’s methods restore his potential and the sect’s prospects. Their bond survives Situ Xuan’s frank admission that he originally joined for practical support 314 418 453 595 833.
  • A Ruheng / A Ruhuan — Senior disciple, named A Ruheng in the recruitment passages and A Ruhuan in later training passages. Mu Ye values his talent but initially doubts that his gentle disposition can drive the sect’s revival 95 96 120.
  • Zhen Hua — Longtime friend and Divine Craftsman. Draws Mu Ye’s attention to Situ Xuan’s tournament performance 95 299.
  • Yuanen Yehui — Receives close-combat instruction from him to strengthen her foundation. Her dedication and rapid assimilation of his corrections earn his approval 628.
  • Leng Yaozhu — Spirit Pagoda Vice Tower Master. Their courteous meeting involves mutual assessment of cultivation; she recognizes the tact beneath his rough exterior 312 313.
  • Qiangu Dongfeng — Spirit Pagoda Master and diplomatic contact. Mu Ye approaches him cautiously, recognizing the disparity between their organizations’ influence 299.
  • Cai Yue’er and Zhuo Shi — Shrek Academy opponents whom he intimidates and later strikes during disputes involving Situ Xuan 418 419 480.
  • Yun Ming — Shrek authority whom Mu Ye openly challenges while defending his disciple 340 341.
  • Hu Jie — Tang Sect and Offering Hall figure repeatedly defeated and humiliated by Mu Ye. The Tang Sect’s two Limit Douluo ultimately constrain Mu Ye from killing him 583 589 607 609.
  • Dai Tianling — Star Luo Emperor and political adversary during the Tang Sect dispute. Mu Ye sees through his attempt to pressure him using the sect’s senior leadership 594 595.
  • Guan Yue and Dong Zi’an — Battlefield allies who later share in absorbing the Demon Plane’s origin 833 881.
