The third basement level had been converted into a sturdy secret chamber. Its walls were covered in soundproofing runes and soul guidance arrays that blocked detection. People outside could not hear a thing from within, nor could they detect the Soul Power fluctuations inside.
In the secret chamber, Ghost Emperor and the Four Heavenly Kings looked at one another.
Ghost Emperor sat in the seat of honor. His entire body was so thin he was practically skin and bones, his face as pale as paper, his eye sockets sunken, his cheekbones jutting high, making him look like a dried corpse that had just crawled out of a coffin. His already-pale cheeks had flushed red with rage, the redness spreading from the base of his neck all the way to his forehead. Blue veins bulged, and his eyeballs looked as if they were about to pop out of their sockets. His right hand clenched the armrest of his chair, his knuckles cracking, and fine cracks appeared across the armrest.
