Massive trees rose from the ground in rapid succession, blotting out the sky. In the blink of an eye, the entire Chunin Exam arena had become an impenetrable forest.
Mifune leaped nimbly through the woods, avoiding the still-growing trees. Looking around, he could not see the edge of the forest at all.
"So this is what ninja are capable of... But isn't it a little too outrageous for a Chunin Exam to feature ninjutsu of this level?" Mifune silently marveled as he dodged the trees.
Fortunately, the branches were merely growing wildly on their own and had not attacked him. Otherwise, Mifune would likely have ended up just like Konoha's three Genin.
Uchiha Fugaku had unleashed two Fire Release techniques, only to be wrapped into a cocoon by the trees. Hyuga Hiashi had used Rotation, but it could only hold them back temporarily. In the end, he still could not stop the branches that slipped through every opening.
Before long, the two of them were dragged over to Akimichi Choza. The three hung upside down from the branches like silkworm cocoons, becoming a trio of fellow sufferers.
Once the trees stopped growing, Mifune let out a sigh of relief and hurriedly announced, "The winner is Sunagakure." Then he promptly made himself scarce.
He was no fool. Wood Release was Konoha's signature ninjutsu, yet now it had been used by a Sunagakure ninja. He could guess what would happen next with his toes, and he had no desire to get dragged into it.
