Sarutobi Toru stepped into the Hokage's Office and happened to see the Third Hokage sitting behind his desk.
Besides the Third Hokage, there was another figure in the office, with golden hair and a handsome smile. It was none other than Namikaze Minato, the "Yellow Flash."
Although he had yet to earn that title, everyone had witnessed his outstanding performance during Uchiha Madara's last invasion.
Thus, he had already become a leading figure among the new generation. Even in Konoha Village, he was quite renowned.
But what had the Third Hokage summoned the two of them for this time?
Seeing Sarutobi Toru enter as well, the Third Hokage tapped his pipe. "Toru, you're here too? Then I'll assign you your mission."
"This time, the two of you will go to Sunagakure and Iwagakure to sign a Non-Aggression and Friendship Peace Treaty."
At those words, Namikaze Minato's eyes widened. "Lord Hokage, isn't this mission a little too fanciful? The Sand Shinobi and Iwagakure have both prepared for battle. They've even readied their war supplies, and now we're supposed to sign a peace treaty with them..."
Well, what Namikaze Minato really wanted to ask was: Lord Third Hokage, had he gone senile? If the other side did not make a move now, the wasted preparations for those war supplies, along with the manpower and intelligence-gathering expenses, would be enough to make both shinobi villages suffer badly.
It would not cripple them or drain them of all their strength. But it would be enough to make both villages uncomfortable. At the very least, they would have to tighten their belts for half a year before they could smooth over the consequences.
Anyone could tell that the Third Kazekage and the Third Tsuchikage were not idiots. How could they possibly agree to such terms?
