Goodwin smiled and led the children into the room displaying numerous trophies.
The moment they entered, the youngest son, Grado, widened his eyes excitedly. His face full of curiosity and longing, he shouted, "Dad, what are these? They're so pretty! I want some too!"
Cradled in his father's arms, Grado stared fixedly at the glittering trophies that filled the entire display case, his eyes brimming with undisguised fondness.
Before Goodwin could explain, his eldest daughter Alissa, standing nearby, beat him to it. "Silly little brother, these are all honorary trophies Dad has won!"
Alissa then hurried over to the shelf specially used for Finals MVP trophies, where seven exquisitely designed, gleaming trophies stood neatly arranged.
She first pointed at the first four trophies and proudly told her brother, "Look, these first four belong to me!"
Then she moved her hand toward the remaining three and lightly tapped them. "And these last three belong to Danielle!"
After saying that, Alissa affectionately rubbed the head of her little sister Danielle, who was noticeably shorter than her.
Danielle's face immediately blossomed into a radiant, spring-flower smile beneath her sister's touch, looking especially happy and content.
Yet just as everyone was immersed in that joy, poor Grado suddenly deflated like a balloon. His expectant little face instantly fell, tears rapidly welling in his eyes. He turned to Goodwin with utter grievance in his eyes and asked in a slightly trembling voice, "Dad, then... what about me? Don't I have anything?"
Judging by the way he looked, if Goodwin dared say "no," the little guy would probably burst into loud tears on the spot.
Before Goodwin could respond, Alissa, who stood beside them, spoke first. "You? Of course you don't!"
Before her words had even faded, Grado instantly burst into tears. But the moment he
