"Ahhhhh, we won!"
"YES, we defeated the Eastern Conference leaders, the Indiana Pacers."
"Hahahaha, we won, we won."
The Boston Celtics players hugged one another, celebrating with excitement.
This victory meant a great deal to them.
First, their season record had been poor, placing them 11th in the East, and then coach John was fired. This undoubtedly dealt a significant blow to the Boston Celtics; although the players didn't speak of it, the impact was undeniably real.
Defeating the Eastern Conference-leading Indiana Pacers in this game served as a shot of adrenaline for the team.
"Goodwin!" After the game ended, Paul Pierce ran toward Goodwin, wrapped his arms around him, and cheered excitedly.
Paul Pierce knew very well that without Goodwin, they would never have been able to take down the Indiana Pacers in this game. Even if he had scored the team-high, it would have been meaningless without Goodwin.
Goodwin's emotions had gradually calmed down. He patted Paul Pierce on the back and said, "Senior Paul, we need to win many, many more games. We are going to make the playoffs together."
Hearing Goodwin's words, Paul Pierce let go of him, slapped his shoulders firmly, and said, "Goodwin, remember what you said. Don't you dare drop the ball."
"Senior Paul, I want to return those words to you. Don't you drop the ball; you are the leader of the Boston Celtics," Goodwin replied.
"Hahahaha."
"Miller, let's go." Artest shouted at Reggie Miller, who was standing motionless on the court.
Reggie Miller finally snapped out of his daze and replied, "Coming." Before leaving, he glanced in Goodwin's direction once more before turning to walk toward the player tunnel.
Goodwin, I definitely won't lose next time.
Reggie Miller didn't know what had come over him; he just didn't want to lose to Goodwin. Perhaps this was a case of like attracting like.
Goodwin likely never expected that he had gained another "enemy" for no reason at all.
After the celebrations concluded, the reporters on-site swarmed in, surrounding Paul Pierce and Goodwin for interviews.
Seeing this scene, Goodwin couldn't help but recall the scene after the NCAA finals last year.
That scene felt like it had happened a long, long time ago.
Half a month after the NCAA finals, he had instantly gone from being the darling of the media to someone no one cared about, even when he entered the draft.
How nostalgic!
Goodwin took a deep breath and looked at the crowd of reporters with a smile.
"Goodwin, you completed a go-ahead shot in this game. How do you feel?"
"Goodwin, this is your first game in the NBA. Not only did you shoot 4-of-6 from three-point range and score 12 points, but you also hit the go-ahead shot to help the team win. How are you feeling right now?"
"Goodwin..."
The reporters asked questions all at once.
After the reporters finished, Goodwin chose the questions he had heard to answer: "First of all, thank you for coming to interview me. It has been almost a year since I last experienced a scene like this. I remember clearly that the last time was on the stage of the NCAA finals, so I have decided that I will work even harder in the future to keep you all here."
As soon as he finished speaking, the reporters laughed.
"In this game, I am very grateful to coach Doc Rivers for giving me playing time. I did not let his expectations down, and I did my small part to help the team secure the victory."
"Of course, this victory would not have been possible without the concerted efforts of all my teammates. I believe that under the leadership of Doc Rivers, we, the Boston Celtics, will only get better."
Goodwin laid it on thick, buttering up Doc Rivers.
During the subsequent post-game interview, Doc Rivers was also asked by reporters: "Coach Rivers, when we interviewed Goodwin just now, he said he was very grateful to you for giving him playing time. You know, coach John didn't give Goodwin a single minute of playing time before. How did you discover Goodwin?"
Upon hearing this, Doc Rivers waved his hand and said, "No, you are mistaken. It wasn't a discovery; it was Goodwin's own strength that earned him the corresponding playing time. As for your question about why coach John didn't let Goodwin play for a single minute, you should ask coach John that."
After Doc Rivers' interview comments appeared in the newspapers, coach John was instantly subjected to a barrage of abuse from fans.
"What a trash coach. He had such an amazing player in Goodwin and didn't even let him play."
"He should have been fired long ago; he has zero ability."
"Is he blind? My Goodwin not only has the looks, but he also has the talent."
When the sports papers were published the next day, Goodwin's popularity and fan count skyrocketed, especially among his female fans, making him the player with the most female fans on the Boston Celtics.
After all, his handsome looks were undeniable, much like the readers here.
Many female fans even wore Goodwin's number 20 jersey and held handmade signs for him, coming to the perimeter of the Boston Celtics training facility to cheer him on.
Completely unaware, Goodwin walked toward the training facility with his handsome face, dribbling a ball as he went.
"It's Goodwin!"
"Ah, Goodwin!"
"Wow, he's so handsome, it would be a waste not to go to Hollywood."
Goodwin stood outside the perimeter of the training facility, looking completely bewildered. What was going on? How did he suddenly have so many fans, and all of them female at that?
Coming back to his senses, Goodwin found himself already surrounded by fans. He asked uncertainly, "Are you really my fans? Did you find the wrong person?" Going from being completely ignored to this scene in just one night was something Goodwin truly hadn't processed yet.
"We really are your fans."
"Ahhh, Goodwin, you're so handsome!"
"Goodwin, can you sign this for me?"
Holy crap! They really are my fans.
Hard work pays off; Mom, I've made it!
"Of course, no problem," Goodwin said as he took a pen from one of the fans.
"Ahhh, I want one too!" "Me too!"... The female fans crowded around Goodwin frantically, giving him quite the eyeful.
"Calm down, calm down, one at a time." Alright, be careful or I'll charge you with a charging foul.
It was unknown how much time had passed before Goodwin finally satisfied the wishes of this group of female fans; during the process, he had even been ambushed on his cheeks several times, leaving them covered in red lipstick marks.
A bunch of hooligans!
Goodwin couldn't help but quicken his pace to get away.
When he arrived at the training facility, his teammates all looked over in unison.
"Morning!" Goodwin said by way of greeting.
But the next second, Paul Pierce shouted loudly, "Everyone, charge! Take down this guy who's hogging all the attention!" The teammates were already envious and jealous—everyone here was an NBA player, so why did he get all these female fans? When they saw the lipstick marks on Goodwin's face, they decided they couldn't take it anymore.
"Ahhhhhh..." Goodwin's screams echoed throughout the entire training facility.
