Before long, Tuantuan came over with the sausages and said to Su Chen, "Daddy, I brought the sausages."
Su Chen nodded and took the two sausages from Tuantuan. Since she was still a little girl, her hands were small, while the sausages were rather large—about twice the size of the ones sold outside—so she could only hold one in each hand.
After taking the sausages, Su Chen rinsed them clean under the faucet, patted the water off with paper towels, and then placed them in the frying pan.
He dried off the water because if there was water on them when they went into a hot pan, the oil would splatter easily and could hurt someone. That was why the water had to be absorbed first.
Su Chen asked Tuantuan, "Tuantuan, what other vegetables do you want to eat? Daddy will stir-fry some and put them in the egg-filled pancake later."
Tuantuan said, "I also want cabbage and potatoes."
"Sure, no problem. Then today's egg-filled pancake will have sausage, potatoes, and cabbage."
"Okay, Daddy. Is there anything I need to help with now?"
"Daddy will go get the potatoes and cabbage with you."
"Okay."
After frying the sausages, Su Chen turned off the heat and took Tuantuan to get the potatoes and cabbage.
The potatoes and cabbage were not in the refrigerator but on the balcony, since those things did not spoil easily.
Using a vegetable basket, they took five potatoes and one head of Chinese cabbage.
They then returned to the kitchen and placed them in the sink to wash. Once they were clean, Su Chen peeled the potatoes and sliced them.
He also washed the Chinese cabbage clean and tore it into pieces so it would be easy to roll into the Egg-filled Pancakes later. He could not
