For Huo Yuhao, the matches that followed were less like competitions and more like one-sided beatdowns.
In the round of sixteen, he faced Xie Huanyue, reputedly the strongest defensive student among the freshmen. Huo Yuhao didn't even use a Soul Skill. Relying solely on his body, enhanced by the Ice and Snow Emperors' Soul Rings and Soul Bones, he beat his opponent black and blue until Xie Huanyue wailed and conceded.
In the quarterfinals, he faced the sisters Lan Ruoruo and Lan Susu, who possessed a Martial Soul Fusion Skill. Huo Yuhao simply tore apart their Heavenly Net with his bare hands.
He swept through the competition, unstoppable.
Huo Yuhao didn't need tactics. He was the most unreasonable tactic of all.
Wang Dong and Xiao Xiao had been reduced to cheerleaders with VIP seats. Their only job was to chant, "Class Monitor, you're amazing!" after Huo Yuhao won.
At last, the day of the finals arrived. The Assessment Area was packed with people, and the atmosphere was electric.
Yan Shaozhe, dean of Shrek Academy's Martial Soul Department, had come in person to watch from the raised platform.
Beside him sat a striking young woman in red, with a curvaceous figure.
It was Ma Xiaotao.
Now that she had come to her senses, she was intensely curious about the mysterious person who had helped suppress her Evil Fire.
The heady feeling of cultivating without restraint had left her wanting more. When she heard that the freshman with the Ultimate Attribute had made it to the finals, she couldn't wait to come and see him.
"Teacher, is that the boy?" Ma Xiaotao asked, her beautiful eyes fixed on Huo Yuhao in the arena.
"Mm. One purple and two black Soul Rings. I don't know what secret method he used to disguise them, but his strength is truly unfathomable."
Yan Shaozhe stroked his chin. "Before we arrived, he was the one who held you back. He had the advantage of countering your attribute, but the fact that he could restrain you—a Spirit Emperor who had lost control—while only being a Soul Elder speaks volumes about his strength."
Ma Xiaotao's beautiful eyes filled with astonishment and anticipation.
On the arena, the two teams stood facing each other from a distance.
Huo Yuhao's gaze passed over the others and settled on the golden-haired, heterochromatic-eyed youth across from him—Dai Huabin.
This half-brother of his original body, who shared the same father, was one of the main people responsible for the miserable life of his mother, Huo Yun'er.
Though Huo Yuhao was now a transmigrator, he didn't mind helping his original self get even.
Across the arena, Dai Huabin met Huo Yuhao's icy stare and felt an inexplicable pang of fear.
But his pride as the son of Duke White Tiger wouldn't let him back down.
Especially with Zhu Lu by his side.
"Huo Yuhao, don't think a few fake Soul Rings are enough to scare me! We're taking the championship today!" Dai Huabin shouted, though his bluster barely concealed his nerves.
Huo Yuhao's expression remained blank. He simply waved to Wang Dong and Xiao Xiao behind him. "Same as always. You two watch. I'll handle this."
Wang Dong and Xiao Xiao had already proven their talent and strength in the previous matches.
Now that Huo Yuhao was back, and facing Dai Huabin no less, he wanted to take him on alone.
"Let the match begin!" the referee announced.
Cui Yajie, whose Martial Soul was the Nine-Tailed Fox, struck first. She giggled as pink light enveloped Huo Yuhao. First Soul Skill: Charm.
"Look into my eyes..."
A mocking smile tugged at Huo Yuhao's lips.
Trying to use a mental attack on him? It was like showing off a broadsword in front of Guan Yu, or spraying water in front of the Dragon King.
Golden light flashed in Huo Yuhao's eyes, and his vast spiritual power surged back like a tsunami.
"Pfft!"
Cui Yajie didn't even have time to scream. Blood poured from her eyes, ears, nose, and mouth before her eyes rolled back and she crumpled to the ground.
A one-hit knockout!
Less than three seconds into the match, Dai Huabin's team had already lost a member.
Everyone in the audience stared in shock.
What had just happened?
Even now, there were still plenty of people who didn't know what Huo Yuhao's Martial Soul was.
His matches had been almost entirely won through sheer physical strength, enough to crush his opponents.
Considering his match against Ning Tian, along with what had just happened, it wasn't hard to guess that Huo Yuhao had a Mental Attribute Martial Soul.
On the raised platform, Yan Shaozhe and Ma Xiaotao exchanged a glance, as if they had just uncovered a startling truth.
"Teacher, could Huo Yuhao have Twin Martial Souls?" Ma Xiaotao exclaimed in a low voice.
Yan Shaozhe nodded excitedly. "It seems possible."
One was a Mental Attribute Body Martial Soul, and the other was Ultimate Ice.
Yan Shaozhe's pupils contracted. He hadn't expected this batch of freshmen to produce such a monster.
Each of his two Martial Souls had extraordinary potential on its own. With both in one young man, if he developed as expected, he would surely become a pillar of Shrek Academy in the future.
On the Soul Fighting Arena, Dai Huabin was horrified. He knew he couldn't wait any longer; Huo Yuhao's strange abilities had surpassed anything he'd imagined.
"Zhu Lu!"
Zhu Lu understood at once and rushed toward Dai Huabin.
They embraced as they ran, and an intense surge of Soul Power erupted. A deafening roar rang across the arena.
"Roar—!"
A gigantic Hell White Tiger appeared out of nowhere. It was over eight meters long, radiating a terrifying pressure that made it hard to breathe.
That was the power of a Martial Soul Fusion Skill, enough to challenge powerful opponents of a higher level!
"Huo Yuhao! Die!"
The Hell White Tiger spoke with Dai Huabin's frenzied voice.
Its enormous paw swept toward the tiny figure, bringing with it a gale that seemed to tear the air apart.
Wang Dong and Xiao Xiao's hearts leapt into their throats.
But Huo Yuhao didn't dodge.
Faced with the giant claw crashing down like a mountain, he simply raised his right fist.
"Get... down!"
"Boom!!!"
Two fists of wildly different sizes collided in midair.
The sickening crack of breaking bones was followed by a tremendous wail.
To the audience's utter horror, the enormous Hell White Tiger was blasted away by Huo Yuhao's punch and slammed heavily into the ground!
"Th-this is the strength of a Soul Elder?!" Ma Xiaotao shot to her feet on the raised platform, her red lips parted.
Before anyone could react, Huo Yuhao blurred forward and pounced on the Hell White Tiger, still struggling to get up, like a leech that wouldn't let go.
"This one's for my mother!"
Huo Yuhao straddled the tiger's head and rained down punches.
"Thud! Thud! Thud!"
Each blow landed solidly. The dull impacts made everyone's scalp tingle.
The Hell White Tiger was beaten without a chance to fight back. Its once-solid body began to shudder violently, its light flickering in and out.
"This one's for looking down on everyone!"
"This one's for going too far!"
Huo Yuhao roared, each line punctuated by another heavy punch.
Powered by the extraordinary Soul Rings and Soul Bones granted to him by the Ice and Snow Emperors, he had become a humanoid tyrannosaur—fierce beyond measure.
"Crack!"
At last, Huo Yuhao slammed one final, full-force punch into the Hell White Tiger's forehead. Its massive body could take no more and shattered apart with a mournful cry.
The light faded.
Dai Huabin and Zhu Lu lay on the ground, covered in blood and unconscious. Dai Huabin, especially, had a face swollen like a pig's, leaving him almost unrecognizable.
Huo Yuhao slowly stood up, shook the blood from his hand, and looked around the arena.
At that moment, the vast Assessment Area was as silent as the grave.
He'd dismantled a Martial Soul Fusion Skill with his bare hands!
This wasn't a freshman assessment. It was a max-level expert beating up beginners!
The referee swallowed nervously and announced in a trembling voice, "The freshman assessment champion... Huo Yuhao's team!"
Cheers rang throughout the Assessment Area.
Yan Shaozhe looked at Ma Xiaotao. "How does he compare to you at that age?"
"Stronger," Ma Xiaotao replied without hesitation. "And not by a little."
