Ch. 384The Absent

After Lianxi and Moyao were found dead, the Mermaid Clan elders discovered that hundreds of warriors were missing and a vast enemy force was approaching. The Third Elder ordered the remaining warriors to prepare for battle as one thousand powerful Giant Claw Crabs and Diamond Crayfish neared the settlement.

  • The watchtower captain reported that Lianxi and Moyao had been killed in a single blow near the Seaweed Forest.
  • The Third Elder ordered minors into shelter and summoned all merfolk warriors above fifty Ten-Thousand-Year of cultivation.
  • The Third Elder realized only five hundred of the clan’s expected eight hundred warriors had gathered, and the watchtower captain reported that her deputy was missing.
  • The Fourth Elder sensed no trace of the missing mermaids within thirty miles and detected one thousand hundred-Ten-Thousand-Year Giant Claw Crabs and Diamond Crayfish approaching.
  • The Fourth Elder estimated the enemy would reach the settlement in about one incense stick’s time, and the Third Elder ordered the gathered warriors to take their positions.

Ch. 385The First Wave

The merfolk warriors fought the first wave of Giant Claw Crabs and Diamond Crayfish, killing the attackers at heavy cost. Fewer than four hundred of the five hundred warriors survived, while more enemies waited in the Seaweed Forest.

Ch. 386The Third Wave

After two bloody rounds left only 149 warriors, Bing Lan, Xi Yao, and Mu Ge defied their mothers’ plan to save their strength and joined the third wave of battle. They began fighting the advancing soul beasts, but one controlled Giant Claw Crab was killed by a Diamond Crayfish.

  • Bing Lan, Xi Yao, and Mu Ge accused the Elders of keeping them from battle, and the Fourth Elder explained that the enemy was trying to exhaust the Mermaid Clan before unleashing hidden forces.
  • The Fifth Elder urged the three young mermaids to cultivate until they reached two hundred thousand years, but Bing Lan refused the resources and headed for the front lines.
  • Bing Lan arrived as a hundred soul beasts advanced on the 149 surviving warriors, and Xi Yao and Mu Ge joined her.
  • Xi Yao shielded the warriors, Mu Ge used sound waves to control five Giant Claw Crabs, and Bing Lan froze a Diamond Crayfish’s claw and head.
  • A controlled Giant Claw Crab struck a Diamond Crayfish, which retaliated and killed it; a red soul ring appeared above the crab’s corpse.

Ch. 387Reinforcements?

Ch. 388Betrayal?

Huben revealed that he had never worshipped the Sea God and that he had allies on Sea God Island, then led an attack against the merfolk palace. The Fourth Elder’s shield stopped the soul beasts’ first charge, but Huben’s spiritual attack disrupted her, leaving the barrier close to collapse as the seven hundred beasts charged again.

  • Huben told the three elders that he had never worshipped the Sea God and that his clan had people on Sea God Island.
  • The Fourth Elder realized the merfolk clan leader and others were in danger as Huben’s hidden forces emerged from the Seaweed Forest.

Ch. 389The End is Nigh

More than a thousand elderly mermaids charged the soul beasts to protect the Mermaid Palace, while the Third Elder and Fifth Elder learned that Huben had turned against them. The elders withdrew as the two women fought back, and the chapter ended with the Third Elder locked in a stalemate with Huben before she spotted something alarming.

Ch. 390The Fall of the Merfolk's Fifth Elder

The merfolk’s Fifth Elder was killed when a Giant Claw Crab hurled a spinning Diamond Crayfish into her while she controlled the enemy beasts. The Third Elder, devastated by the slaughter at the shelter and the Fifth Elder’s death, turned on Huben with a vow to kill him.

  • Huben blocked the Third Elder from reaching the palace’s rear as ten Giant Claw Crabs approached the old man and the unconscious Fourth Elder.
  • A pod of Evil Spirit Orcas arrived and dumped bags of heads from the merfolk shelter onto the plaza, taunting the Third Elder about the massacre.
  • A Giant Claw Crab grabbed a Diamond Crayfish and spun it into a blade-filled projectile aimed at the Fifth Elder.
  • The Diamond Crayfish cut the Fifth Elder in half, interrupting her control over fifty Soul Beasts and revealing her four-hundred-thousand-year Soul Ring.
  • The Third Elder stared at the Fifth Elder’s corpse, then told Huben that he deserved to die.

Ch. 391Self-Destruction (Part 1)

After the Fifth Elder's death, Mu Ge self-destructed to devastate Huben's forces, leaving the Fourth Elder to awaken and face the slaughter. As the Third Elder continued fighting Huben, another elder chose to sacrifice herself for their people.

  • The soul beasts under the Fifth Elder's control regained their senses after she died, while Mu Ge rose and chose to self-destruct.
  • Huben ordered two Evil Spirit Orcas to carry the unconscious Bing Lan away, then Mu Ge's explosion killed nearby soul beasts and devastated the battlefield.
  • The Fourth Elder awoke and saw the destruction, learned the Third Elder was still fighting Huben, and ordered others to take her there.
  • An elder stopped the Fourth Elder and insisted on making one last sacrifice for their people.
  • The elder charged a Giant Claw Crab, embraced its claw, and self-destructed after invoking the Sea God.

Ch. 392Self-Destruction (Part 2)

The Fourth Elder confined an old merfolk elder’s self-destruction with a shield, but Huben ordered its Soul Beasts to overwhelm the remaining elders before they could explode. The Third Elder then sacrificed herself in a massive blast, leaving the battlefield devastated and the Fourth Elder and surviving elders grieving.

  • The Fourth Elder trapped an old woman and a Giant Claw Crab inside her shield as the woman self-destructed, destroying them both.
  • Huben ordered its Soul Beasts to attack the remaining merfolk elders in overwhelming numbers, killing many before they could self-destruct.
  • The Third Elder crashed into the palace square, and the Fourth Elder understood her signal and enclosed them in a thin shield.
  • The Third Elder began self-destructing, prompting Huben to order every Soul Beast to flee.
  • The Third Elder’s explosion erased nearby Soul Beasts and shattered many others, leaving a vast crater where she had stood.
  • The Fourth Elder watched the blast’s aftermath in tears as the surviving elders mourned in silence.

Ch. 393Reckoning

After the explosion devastated his forces, Huben led the surviving Soul Beasts in a final assault on the mermaid palace. They killed the remaining elders and captured the unconscious Fourth Elder so she would witness the Mermaid Clan’s extermination, then began their retreat.

  • Huben counted 350 surviving Diamond Crayfish and Giant Claw Crabs, along with 55 Evil Spirit Orcas, and ordered those still in good condition to attack the remaining mermaids.

  • Kraken arrived on Sea God Island through a hidden waterway, and Coral Douluo reported that Eve and her companions suspected nothing.
  • The High Priest welcomed Eve’s delegation at a banquet, while Kraken posed as his disciple and helped steer the negotiations.
  • The Great Elder’s daughter was the first to die from Dan-Devour, followed by the Great Elder, the Second Elder, and their daughters, including Eve’s two daughters.
  • Eve survived the poisoning because Ocean Heart resisted Dan-Devour and unleashed her six-hundred-thousand-year aura against Kraken.
  • Eve asked Kraken why he had done this, then turned to the High Priest and asked whether he was betraying the Sea God.

Ch. 395The Feast at Hong Gate (Part 2)

The High Priest used the Sea God's divine power to kill Eve, while Kraken claimed the Ocean Heart and received news of the Mermaid Clan's defeat. Three days later, the Fourth Elder and Bing Lan were imprisoned and restrained with Soul-Locking Nails.

  • Kraken urged the High Priest to use the Sea God's divine power against Eve, dismissing her concern that the Sea God would notice.
  • The High Priest unleashed the divine power and dissolved Eve, leaving only the Ocean Heart.
  • Kraken took the Ocean Heart and heard that Huben's forces had destroyed the mermaid settlement, killed its defenders, and captured the Fourth Elder and Bing Lan.
  • Kraken ordered Huben's remaining forces to withdraw to the Deep Sea Base and instructed his men to guard the captives without abusing them.
  • Three days later, the Fourth Elder and Bing Lan were bound in separate prison chambers with Soul-Locking Nails, and Bing Lan silently stared at the Fourth Elder.

Ch. 396Dividing the Spoils

Kraken brought the Fourth Elder and Bing Lan to an underground breeding area and imprisoned them in adjoining crystal cells. He unleashed Giant Claw Crab hatchlings on the Fourth Elder, leaving Bing Lan helplessly watching her suffer.

  • Bing Lan screamed and struggled against her restraints while the Fourth Elder endured the attack in silence.
  • The Fourth Elder mouthed “Live” to Bing Lan as the hatchlings continued tearing away her scales.

Ch. 397Non-combatants, please evacuate!!

Bing Lan watched as Kraken’s Giant Claw Crab hatchlings slowly devoured the Fourth Elder while Soul-Locking Nails kept her alive. After months of torment, Bing Lan lost touch with reality, and Kraken ordered the guards to keep her alive.

  • Kraken repeatedly replaced the Giant Claw Crab hatchlings, which ate away the Fourth Elder’s flesh until only her skeleton and faintly beating heart remained.
  • Bing Lan stopped crying and struggling, becoming silent and vacant as she watched the Fourth Elder suffer.
  • Kraken repeatedly asked Bing Lan why the Sea God had not come to save them, but she did not answer.
  • The Soul Beast guards heard Bing Lan humming and laughing strangely, then reported her behavior to Kraken.
  • Bing Lan smiled at Kraken with vacant eyes and laughed through her damaged vocal cords, so Kraken ordered the guards to watch her and keep her alive.

Ch. 398The Unfinished Transaction

Kraken met with Xu Tianran in the Sun-Moon Empire’s imperial palace and agreed to trade two Hundred-Ten-Thousand-Year Soul Beasts for fifteen Fixed Soul Guidance Cannon shells. Kraken left after promising the beasts would obey Xu Tianran completely, leaving the emperor to ponder the deal.

  • Kraken entered Radiant City and slipped into Xu Tianran’s private study at the imperial palace.
  • Xu Tianran offered fifteen Fixed Soul Guidance Cannon shells for two Hundred-Ten-Thousand-Year Soul Beasts, and Kraken immediately accepted.

Ch. 400God Realm

Tang San struggled to protect the Sea God’s dwindling faith while the God of Destruction watched him, and he decided to use Huo Yuhao as an inheritor despite Electrolux’s presence. He sent a divine decree to Titan Giant Ape and Sky Azure Bull Python, ordering them to destroy the Body Sect, where Snow Empress was also present.

Ch. 401Choosing a Location

Kraken stopped draining the Golden Tree when he sensed a lightning tribulation, then set out to find New Shrek Academy and considered using the tribulation to target Wang Dong. At New Shrek Academy, the deans continued to worry about Mu En and Xuan Zi’s disappearance, and Yan Shaozhe decided to search the Star Dou Forest himself.

  • Kraken absorbed enough of the Golden Tree’s energy to raise his cultivation to three hundred and ninety thousand years, then stopped to avoid destroying the tree during his lightning tribulation.
  • Kraken emerged into deserted Shrek City, considered letting his tribulation catch Wang Dong, and wondered where Shrek’s new academy was located.
  • At New Shrek Academy, Yan Shaozhe, Qian Duoduo, Xian Lin’er, and Cai Mei’er discussed the six months without news of Mu En and Xuan Zi or the expected beast tide.
  • Yan Shaozhe announced that he would go to the Star Dou Forest to search for clues, despite Qian Duoduo and Xian Lin’er’s objections.
  • Yan Shaozhe appointed Qian Duoduo to oversee the academy while he was away, with Xian Lin’er and Cai Mei’er assisting him.
