"W-Wait..."
Hearing their conversation, Loki grew a little nervous. "What are you planning to do?"
Fang Mo did not even acknowledge him, directly controlling Steve to begin mining the Bifrost.
Whether it was because his Mental Power was not strong enough or because he had not learned magic from Frigga, Thor could not see Steve. Loki, however, could see him.
When he saw that sharp-edged monster swing its pickaxe and fine cracks appear across the Bifrost, he froze. Then he immediately understood: to prevent Jotunheim from being destroyed, these two were actually willing to destroy the bridge linking the Nine Realms—the Bifrost.
"Thor! Have you lost your mind?" Loki could not help shouting. "If he destroys the Bifrost, you'll never see Jane again!"
But before he had even finished speaking, there was a sharp crack. Steve had already mined out a Bifrost Block, and as the shrunken block was absorbed into Steve's body, a voice suddenly rang out in Fang Mo's mind.
System Prompt: The 'Light Bridge' trait has been researched. You have obtained download access for a new mod. System Prompt: The Light Bridge and Doors mod has begun downloading.
"Hm?"
Hearing that voice, Fang Mo was taken aback.
He had thought the Bifrost could not trigger a mod. So he had to actually dig out the block for it to count? Did that mean he had to do the same to all the other things that had failed to trigger mods?
That had been careless of him. He had thought merely touching them would do.
Who knew he had to dig something out for it to count?
With that in mind, Fang Mo decided he would try digging up all of Asgard later. Of course, his hands did not stop, and Steve continued mining the Bifrost.
"W-What kind of magic is this?"
Thor looked in astonishment at the chunk missing from the Bifrost. As mentioned before, he could not see Fang Mo's stand, so to him, a piece of the Bifrost had simply vanished out of nowhere. He was utterly baffled.
And unlike the Big Bang in the Original Plot—
Perhaps due to Silk Touch, although Steve had mined away a block of the Bifrost, it did not explode. In fact, because the bridge had become narrower, the energy beam from the Teleportation Chamber weakened somewhat as well.
"Brother! How can you allow a mortal to destroy the Bifrost?!"
Loki grew even more anxious at the sight. If Jotunheim was not destroyed, would his entire plan not go down the drain? When Father woke up and discovered the foolish things he had done, he would only be angrier.
Thinking of this, he impulsively pulled a dagger from his robes.
But before Loki could rush forward, Fang Mo merely beckoned. With a bang, a huge hole was blasted through the Teleportation Chamber, and the heavy cleaver swiftly flew back into his hand.
"..."
Seeing the weapon that had cleaved Destroyer Armor in half, Loki promptly lost his nerve again.
Loki believed Thor would not kill him.
But Fang Mo was another matter.
He had no desire to gamble his life on this Midgardian's violent temper.
To Steve, the Bifrost's material was not particularly hard. Before long, it had mined straight through the bridge.
After losing its energy supply, the Teleportation Chamber on the other side stopped spinning like it was glitching. The beams of energy gradually weakened and disappeared, and the crisis in Jotunheim was finally resolved.
"We did it, Fang Mo!"
When he saw the Teleportation Chamber stop, Thor became excited as well. "Great! We saved an entire race!"
"Yeah, yeah."
Hearing Thor's words, Fang Mo could not help rolling his eyes. "Because of your family's mess, the Frost Giants were hiding in Jotunheim and doing nothing, yet they nearly got wiped out by you people."
"Uh..."
Thor was visibly embarrassed by Fang Mo's words. "We can't take all the blame for this."
"Sure, sure."
Fang Mo waved a hand. "Anyway, you should go pull out Heimdall's sword first. Otherwise, I'm worried that thing will start glitching again in a bit."
"Fine."
Thor did not think much of it and turned toward the Teleportation Chamber.
While he had the chance, Fang Mo turned to look at Loki.
"..."
Under Fang Mo's stare, Loki instantly felt as though he faced a great enemy. "Y-You... what are you going to do?"
"I'm thinking about whether I should throw you off here."
Fang Mo smiled faintly.
"I suggest you do not." Loki was clearly nervous at this point and hurriedly said, "I am still a prince of Asgard. If you do this, then you would be—"
"You'd be a great benefactor of Asgard, right?"
Fang Mo was not afraid of Loki at all. "After all, you've done plenty of rotten things as a prince. Throwing you into a spatial rift to exile you would be perfectly normal."
"That isn't exile. That's murder."
Loki immediately said, "Anyone with common sense knows that once you fall into one of those things, there's no way you can survive!"
"..."
Fang Mo said nothing, only quietly staring at Loki.
Actually, when he had been trading barbs with Nick Fury earlier, he had not noticed this.
But now, seeing Loki—who should have fallen into the spatial turbulence—standing here alive and well, Fang Mo finally realized just how powerful the butterfly effect was. He understood the extent of his influence on the plot.
Now, Fang Mo had two paths to choose from.
The first was to make use of the plot's conveniences and promote the major events from the Original Plot as much as possible, ensuring that he could continue to foresee the future.
For example, he could throw Loki into the spacetime rift, then wait for him to lead the aliens in invading Earth during Avengers 1.
Of course, there was also the second path: act entirely according to his own wishes, directly changing any Original Plot he disliked. If he came across someone pleasing, he could lend a hand. If he came across someone displeasing, he could catch them and beat them senseless. That would certainly feel good, but the downside was that he would lose his ability to foresee the future.
Both paths had their pros and cons, and for a moment, Fang Mo hesitated over which one to choose.
"Um, well..."
Seeing Fang Mo seriously considering it, Loki truly panicked. Odin was still asleep, and Thor and Mother certainly could not stop this monster. So he hurriedly asked, "You aren't seriously thinking of throwing me down there, are you?"
"What do you think?"
Fang Mo glanced at Loki and asked in return.
"You're serious?" Loki was startled, then could not help asking, "No, do we have some kind of grudge? Even if I wanted to destroy Jotunheim... what does that have to do with you, a Midgardian?"
"But throwing you down would benefit me."
Having had his train of thought interrupted by Loki, Fang Mo simply stopped thinking about it and gave him a smile instead. "Still, considering that you are Thor's brother and your crimes do not warrant death, I'll give you one last chance."
"What chance?"
Hearing this, Loki hurriedly tried to seize this lifeline.
"I'll only give you three minutes."
Fang Mo slowly held up three fingers. "Give me a reason not to throw you down. If your reason satisfies me, I'll pretend none of this ever happened."
Before you continue
