Background / History

Tang San remembers a previous life ending with him jumping from a cliff. After awakening in Douluo Continent as an infant, he retains Tang Sect techniques and comes to view his rebirth as connected to a larger destiny. 3 65

He becomes Yu Xiaogang’s disciple and places near-absolute faith in his teacher’s martial-soul theories. Yu Xiaogang guides his Blue Silver Grass toward a poison-based control path, including the use of Datura Snake and Ghost Vine-derived traits. 2 31 33

Tang San is the son of Tang Hao and Ah Yin. He later learns that Ah Yin was a Hundred-Thousand-Year Blue Silver Emperor who sacrificed herself after conflict with Martial Soul Hall, leading him to swear vengeance against the organization. 40 57

Appearance

Tang San’s appearance becomes markedly more spider-like after acquiring an External Spirit Bone. By the time he confronts Xiao Wu and Zhu Zhuqing at Heaven Dou Royal Academy, his altered features unsettle both of them. 51

  • Fair skin, slender fingers, and a shriller voice following his severe lower-abdomen injury. 30 51
  • Hideous spider mouthparts that drip foul-smelling saliva when his External Spirit Bone is activated. 51
  • Two yellow and one purple spirit rings displayed during the Heaven Dou confrontation. 51

Personality

Tang San begins as highly confident in both his tactics and Yu Xiaogang’s teachings. Xia Ran’s criticism of his Blue Silver Grass and battlefield decisions shakes that confidence, but Tang San refuses to accept the criticism and treats disagreement with his teacher’s theories as a personal affront. 2 3

He is intensely attached to Xiao Wu and initially frames his actions around protecting her. However, this protectiveness becomes possessive: he orders her to apologize to Yu Xiaogang, slaps her for questioning the proposed third soul ring, and later withholds her mother’s wooden comb as leverage against Zhu Zhuqing. 3 33 51

After his injuries and growing resentment toward Xia Ran, Tang San becomes more irritable and aggressive. He repeatedly relies on ambushes, hidden weapons, and using others as bait when direct confrontation is unfavorable. 32 33 40 52

Abilities & Skills

Blue Silver Grass

Tang San cultivates Blue Silver Grass as a poison-oriented control-type martial soul under Yu Xiaogang’s guidance, despite Xia Ran’s criticism that this path conflicts with the martial soul’s natural qualities. 2 33

  • Uses Sleeve Arrows, throwing darts, Dragon Whisker Needles, Sand-Shooting Shadows, and Godly Zhuge Crossbows. 4 40

  • Enhances his threatening appearance with visible spider mouthparts. 51
  • Is used alongside his Blue Silver Grass during his battle against Zhu Zhuqing. 51

Twin Martial Souls

Tang San possesses Twin Martial Souls: Blue Silver Grass and the Clear Sky Hammer. His Clear Sky Hammer is noted by Tang Hao as part of Tang San’s potential, though its abilities are not shown in the documented events. 31 85
