"What was the use of the system level increasing by one?" After marveling for a while, Ron continued, "Would it unlock new permissions for me or something?"
The system unusually fell silent for several seconds. "The System Panel will be optimized."
???
"So it's useless, then?" Ron snorted.
What the hell was System Panel optimization supposed to do?
Make it look prettier?
Or could it conjure up a virtual little loli for him?
Ron rolled his eyes and decided to go downstairs to see how the renovated Flower Shop looked.
When he reached the first floor, Ron switched on the chandelier above him. Its soft, warm yellow light spilled down, making his eyes feel quite comfortable.
The floor had been laid with off-white square tiles, while the three surrounding walls were engraved with beautiful patterns, making the place look neat and elegant.
The walls on either side of the entrance had been torn down and replaced with two equally sized floor-to-ceiling glass panels, instantly opening up the view inside the shop.
The entire Flower Shop was divided into three main zones.
The area near the entrance, along both sides and the other three walls, was the outer zone. Each side had a row of cubby shelves, with an empty flowerpot placed in every compartment. They were probably meant for small potted plants.
Further inside was the middle zone, where numerous enormous cylindrical glass containers formed a circle all the way to the ceiling. They looked rather spectacular, varying in diameter, with even the smallest measuring around a meter across. They were likely meant for growing trees.
At the very center of the shop stood a cylindrical viewing corridor roughly five meters in diameter. It contained all kinds of wooden horizontal and vertical trellises, making it perfect for climbing plants and vines.
Ron walked around the shop, looking it over from top to bottom. He nodded in satisfaction, and seeing the layout filled him with a strong sense of accomplishment.
It was just too empty.
Though it made the Flower Shop look spacious, it completely lacked the atmosphere a flower shop should have.
After all, he had not cultivated a single plant yet.
"System, how about I buy some plants outside to decorate the place first?" Ron suggested. "Even if I grow the Nether Orchid, it'll only be one type of flower. That's a little too monotonous."
System: "This shop does not permit the placement of foreign plants."
Ron said disdainfully, "What are you, some kind of cleanliness freak? Looking down on plants from outside?"
System: "If the host insists on placing foreign plants, positions within the shop may be exchanged using Wealth Points. Each cubby shelf compartment costs 10 Wealth Points, each hollow pillar costs 100 Wealth Points, and each central horizontal or vertical trellis costs 50 Wealth Points."
"..." Ron was instantly speechless. "Forget I said anything."
System: "Please name the Flower Shop."
"Uh..." Ron was suddenly stumped. He was notoriously terrible at naming things, and he had a bit of an artsy streak as well.
So, following the principle of keeping things simple and clear, he casually said, "Let's call it Ron's Wonderful Flower Shop. People will understand it at a glance."
System: "Shop name confirmed. If the host wishes to change the name in the future, 100 Wealth Points will be required."
"..." Ron could not be bothered with this money-grubbing system and headed straight to the storage room at the back.
The moment his hand touched the doorknob, he immediately received a prompt from the system.
System: "Would you like to enter the Dimensional Plane?"
Ron chose no first, then pushed open the door and walked inside.
Since he had not chosen to enter the Dimensional Plane, the room beyond the door was still the original storage room, unchanged in any way.
Going out through the back door of the storage room led to the yard behind the Flower Shop. Everything looked perfectly normal.
Ron then left the storage room and chose to enter the Dimensional Plane before going in again.
The instant Ron pushed open the door, everything before him went dark.
When his vision returned, he was already standing in an empty space.
It was a void, surrounded by soft whiteness that stretched endlessly beyond sight.
Ron's body floated within it, able to move freely according to his will.
"So this is the Dimensional Plane?" Ron looked around curiously.
System: "This is the most stable central region of the Dimensional Plane. The host is advised not to stray too far from here, lest you be swept away by spatial turbulence."
Hearing the system's warning, Ron immediately abandoned his plan to explore the boundary.
He had originally wanted to see whether there was some kind of invisible wall. Maybe he could even exploit a bug?
After joking to himself, Ron opened the System Panel and spent his only 100 Wealth Points in the [Shop] to exchange for one square meter of Cultivation Space.
The next moment, an utterly ordinary patch of soil appeared before him.
It was perfectly square, looking exactly like a blocky vegetable plot from some farming game. It reminded Ron of his glorious days online, when he never planted vegetables and only stole them.
System: "The space within the Cultivation Space is independent of the Dimensional Plane, and the two do not interfere with one another. Factors such as soil, moisture, sunlight, air, nutrients, and time flow may all be freely adjusted to meet any planting requirements of the host."
Ron took the Nether Orchid seeds from the [Inventory]. Following the cultivation methods he had absorbed earlier, he instantly transformed the Cultivation Space into an environment suitable for the seeds' growth, then planted the Nether Orchid seeds.
Throughout the entire planting process, Ron only needed to control things with his mind. Even the step of clicking a mouse had been eliminated.
Still, Ron's task was much more troublesome than growing vegetables online.
After all, this was not truly a one-click foolproof operation. Although there was a time acceleration function, controlling moisture and distributing nutrients required him to slow the flow of time before he could manage them carefully.
Moreover, this was Ron's first time using the Cultivation Space to grow plants. Despite having previously absorbed the complete cultivation methods for the Nether Orchid, it still took him an entire morning to grow one mature Nether Orchid.
When Ron saw the Nether Orchid's blue fruit ripen and fall to the ground, his tightly wound nerves finally relaxed, and a smile appeared on his face.
He stored the Nether Orchid's fruit in the [Inventory]. Looking at the knee-high purple flower before him, Ron's heart was instantly filled with accomplishment.
[Upgrade Mission]—[Successfully cultivate one Nether Orchid]:
"Congratulations, host. Mission completed. The mission reward has been deposited into the [Inventory]."
"The Nether Orchid can be transplanted into the Flower Shop. Would you like to transplant it?"
Ron chose to transplant it.
The next moment, the Nether Orchid before him vanished.
Ron then exited the Dimensional Plane and returned to the Flower Shop.
The system had already placed the Nether Orchid in a flowerpot on the cubby shelf facing the street. It was particularly conspicuous in the empty Flower Shop.
Ron then went upstairs and sat on the sofa in the living room, opening the System Panel—
System Level: 2 Host: Ron Andre Race: Human/Fox-kin hybrid Gender: Male Age: 18 (patterns) Occupation: None Wealth Points: 0 [Tasks] [Inventory] [Shop]
Seeing his Wealth Points reduced to zero once more, Ron suddenly felt empty inside.
Then he noticed the difference in the System Panel—some very attractive decorative patterns had appeared on the right side.
"So this is the System Panel optimization you were talking about?" Ron asked with a dark expression. "It really is beautiful..."
System: "Yes. Such patterns are gifts from the system. As the system level increases, various decorative designs will be introduced for the host to choose from. Please work hard to level up, and look forward to them."
