When Ronnie Robert learned the news, his expression changed. "They'll stop cooperating if we don't deliver within half a year... Are they really that arrogant?"
Chen Jiu replied lazily, "Isn't it only natural for them to be arrogant? No one said only you're allowed to break contracts while others aren't."
"It's 'they'!" Robert corrected him. "Can you arrange for me to meet them?"
"I already arranged for them to meet Elder Lin." Chen Jiu was actually rather angry. "Did Elder Lin persuade them?"
That example was actually rather inappropriate. Lin Jielin knew absolutely nothing about any "Humanoid Civilization." Though the matter had caused a huge uproar on the Border Stars, the news was being deliberately, or perhaps inadvertently, suppressed in the Federation's core regions.
At the end of the day, the Human Federation's situation was not very good right now. If another alien civilization with malicious intentions appeared, it could easily trigger a series of negative reactions, leading to social unrest and conflict.
Of course, the Federation government had not completely suppressed the news either. Humanity had discovered quite a few extraterrestrial civilizations to begin with. Whether they were real or merely publicity stunts, before the encounter with the Insect Race, those civilizations had either been destroyed or assimilated.
Moreover, the Federation had countless interstellar expedition teams, and earth-shattering news broke out from time to time. But 99.9 percent of it was just chasing traffic, and of the remaining 0.1 percent, 99.9 percent was still a misunderstanding.
Over time, the people of the Human Federation had become numb to such news—no one would watch Approaching Science endlessly.
So, in the Federation's core regions, some people with a desire to verify things might have noticed the emergence of a Humanoid Civilization that held a certain degree of goodwill toward the Federation.
