I'd been quite busy lately, looking after an elderly family member and entertaining friends. I'd finally managed to squeeze out time for a third update.
Water? Of course I wasn't saying the writing was watered down. Feng Xiao's writing had never been padded.
This was an age of skim reading. Many readers read at a glance, skipping ten lines at a time. Making prose concise was easy, but Feng Xiao's past writing experience had taught him that if you wrote too tersely, a great many people would say they couldn't understand it.
That would waste a great deal of the author's time on explanations and seriously affect writing speed, so there were a few more explanations in the book.
Besides, even though this was an Immortal Heroes novel, it had modern urban elements, and Feng Xiao hoped to make it as logically consistent as possible.
Sigh, sigh. I'd originally wanted to talk about purified water—how did I end up talking about the book?
I was posting this standalone chapter because I still wanted to ask for monthly votes. This month had probably been Feng Xiao's busiest month since writing Official Immortal. I was truly exhausted in body and mind, and it hadn't been easy to grit my teeth and keep paying off what I owed.
I'd fallen badly on the monthly vote rankings, dropping nearly ten places in a row on the overall list. It was the end of the month—did everyone still have any new monthly votes?
