Ch. 2801Estimation

Plot and major events

After returning from the Insectoid World, Feng Jun brings back a treatment plan for poison injuries and three battalions of warships. Although the warships are not especially important to Xia Nation without reverse-engineering, Feng Jun values the restoration of trade with the Insectoid World. He spends several days helping Elder Bian Ji deduce the Fake-Death Pill before preparing to collect a large supply of Nanorobots.
Meanwhile, the Myriad Illusions Sect spreads accusations that the Grand Void Sect and Golden Crow Sect colluded with family cultivators to massacre its disciples. The two sects’ disciples are challenged at the Myriad Illusions Sect headquarters and withdraw rather than fight on hostile home ground. They later learn that Xuanyuan Buqi had destroyed a Gold Core combat team led by a Nascent Soul cultivator in the Insectoid World. The Myriad Illusions Sect’s accusations are therefore viewed as an attempt to preserve morale, though they damage its reputation.
Concerned that the Myriad Illusions Sect may retaliate when Feng Jun returns to trade, Feng Jun and Yi Jue decide to travel secretly to Xingzheng Star. Feng Jun initially plans to go with only Yi Jue, wishing to prove that he can survive without constant protection, but the mysterious “big shot” advises bringing another spatially gifted Earth cultivator. Feng Jun summons Liu Yiyi to protect Yi Jue from spatial attacks.
On Xingzheng Star, Feng Jun meets Xuan Gao and resumes the Nanorobot trade. He says he can absorb up to fifty million doses and offers double the usual Energy Stone price. He also requests holographic diagnostic equipment, asking Xuan Gao to acquire thirty to fifty units, or even more than one hundred if possible.

Character developments

  • Feng Jun becomes more confident and strategically assertive. He refuses to appear desperate for Nanorobots and deliberately delays his return to avoid revealing weakness. He also insists on traveling without the protection of the two True Lords to demonstrate his independence, while still taking precautions to protect Yi Jue.
  • Yi Jue shows concern for Feng Jun’s safety but ultimately respects his judgment. She accepts his firm decision to bring Liu Yiyi, recognizing that his actions are motivated by her protection.
  • The big shot continues to display extreme caution and self-preservation, immediately questioning the risks of traveling between Domains and recommending additional spatial protection.
  • Xuan Gao remains outwardly submissive but becomes increasingly analytical. Feng Jun’s ability to purchase tens of millions of Nanorobot doses makes him reassess Feng Jun’s resources and infer that he commands an enormous population or market, far beyond Xuan Gao’s own power.
  • The Myriad Illusions Sect is portrayed as increasingly desperate, sacrificing honesty and reputation to maintain morale and justify its actions.

Character interactions

Feng Jun and Yi Jue discuss whether to travel alone, with Feng Jun emphasizing independence and Yi Jue advocating caution. The big shot interrupts from Feng Jun’s Sea of Consciousness and argues that Liu Yiyi should accompany them because of her Spatial Constitution. Feng Jun then firmly orders Liu Yiyi to join, surprising Yi Jue but ultimately gaining her acceptance.
Qian Zhong offers a rare defense of the Myriad Illusions Sect’s propaganda, arguing that it had no choice if it wanted to prevent morale from collapsing. Xuanyuan Buqi rejects this reasoning and urges Feng Jun’s allies to accompany him, warning that the sect has abandoned all restraint.
Feng Jun and Xuan Gao negotiate the purchase of Nanorobots and diagnostic equipment. Xuan Gao carefully interprets Feng Jun’s casual statements, using the proposed purchase volume to estimate the scale of Feng Jun’s hidden forces. Feng Jun, unaware of these calculations, simply focuses on securing enough supplies for Xia Nation.

Significant themes

  • Strategic restraint and concealment: Feng Jun deliberately avoids appearing eager or vulnerable, recognizing that information about his needs can become a weakness.
  • Scale versus individual power: The chapter emphasizes that large populations, resources, and production capacity may matter more than a few powerful cultivators. Xuan Gao’s thoughts compare mass industrial and military capacity with high-end combat strength.
  • Home-field advantage and political legitimacy: Fighting at an enemy’s headquarters is inherently dangerous, while the Myriad Illusions Sect’s propaganda shows how factions manipulate truth to preserve authority.
  • Trust, protection, and independence: Feng Jun wants to prove he can stand on his own, yet he also accepts the responsibility of protecting those important to him.
  • Pragmatic trade and changing circumstances: Feng Jun does not obsess over whether he is paying too much or too little. Maintaining stable trade and preserving his Dao heart matter more than short-term profit.
  • Reconstruction and resource scarcity: Xingzheng Star’s devastated condition creates shortages in transportation, Energy Stones, equipment, and industrial recovery, showing the practical consequences of war.

Ch. 2802Pitiful Hidden Treasure

Summary: The Pitiful Hidden Cache

Key Plot Points and Events

  • Feng Jun completes a deal with Xuan Gao for holographic imaging equipment, paying double the originally expected amount in Energy Stones.
  • He and Yi Jue travel to the Great Planet, where he collects several billion tons of accumulated Energy Stones. Because his supply is being rapidly consumed—especially to generate spiritual energy for the Blue Star Realm—he realizes he needs many more miners.
  • Yi Jue offers to send Spirit Plant Dao disciples to mine. Feng Jun agrees in principle but worries that supervising them would divide his attention. They decide to recruit volunteers under a life-and-death risk agreement.
  • Feng Jun and Yi Jue visit the Amber Realm to retrieve one of the hidden caches connected to the mysterious “senior” in Feng Jun’s mind.
  • The cache turns out to be shockingly depleted: it contains only a dozen High-Grade Spirit Stones, a few hundred Mid-Grade Spirit Stones, two Nascent Soul Pills, two Magic Treasures, several Talismans, a Gathering Spirit Formation Disk, and three Heavenly Fragrance Fruits. The box could have held far more, suggesting that someone had taken most of its contents.
  • The hidden cache’s poor condition enrages the senior, who accuses someone of tampering with his property. Feng Jun and Yi Jue conclude that the cache was likely the source of the Amber Realm’s Domain Blessing and that its contents were plundered.
  • Seeking a stronger Domain with a better cache, Feng Jun asks Yi Jue about other anchored lower realms. She explains that most are limited to the Nascent Soul Realm, while Secondary Planes lack safe anchors.
  • Yi Jue mentions the Qingchuan Realm, once powerful enough to support Soul Emergence cultivators but devastated by a massive Celestial Demon invasion two thousand years earlier. Its cultivation limit has since fallen to the Nascent Soul Middle Stage.
  • Feng Jun decides to investigate Qingchuan. Yi Jue returns to her cave abode, recruits disciples for Energy Stone mining, and then descends with Feng Jun and Liu Yiyi into Qingchuan.
  • Shortly after arriving, Yi Jue detects a developing Spirit Vein and discovers that someone has already occupied the surrounding area. Feng Jun senses something more troubling: another hidden cache may be present there.
  • Through his private communication with the senior, Feng Jun learns that the cache may be deeply connected to Qingchuan’s tragedy. The Celestial Demons might even have been drawn to the realm because of it.
  • Although the senior has forgotten what the cache contains, he insists on retrieving it despite the realm’s apparent rejection of him.

Character Developments

  • Feng Jun: Becomes increasingly concerned with resource shortages, mining capacity, and the risks of managing additional cultivators. He also grows more cautious about the mysterious senior’s caches, recognizing that their recovery may involve dangerous karmic consequences rather than simple treasure hunting.
  • Yi Jue: Shows practical concern for her disciples’ lack of resources and offers them mining opportunities. She also demonstrates confidence in handling lower realms, but remains wary of anchoring or establishing sects in unstable Domains.
  • The mysterious senior: Reveals a possessive and stubborn personality. Though forgetful about the contents of his own cache, he is deeply angered by anyone disturbing it and refuses to abandon a cache merely because the realm rejects him.
  • Xuanyuan Buqi and Qian Zhong: Their brief exchange shows growing suspicion toward Feng Jun, particularly because he travels privately with Yi Jue rather than involving them. Qian Zhong is more understanding, attributing his behavior to the extraordinary demands of his activities.

Significant Themes

  • Resource scarcity and exploitation: Energy Stones are valuable both as trade goods and as sources of spiritual energy, driving the expansion of mining operations and creating risks for low-level cultivators.
  • Hidden wealth and diminished inheritance: The Amber cache illustrates how ancient treasures can be looted, depleted, or distorted by later events. Great wealth may survive only as fragments.
  • Trust and secrecy: Feng Jun’s reluctance to involve others reflects the dangers of his hidden connections and the suspicion this secrecy creates among allies.
  • Karmic consequences: The cache in Qingchuan appears tied to the Domain’s destruction and the Celestial Demon invasion, suggesting that pursuing treasure may reopen old disasters.
  • The instability of realms: Domains can decline, lose their cultivation limits, become contaminated, or be rejected by higher powers, emphasizing that environments and cosmic territories are not permanent or passive.
  • Duty versus opportunity: Yi Jue wants to help impoverished disciples gain resources, while Feng Jun must balance that opportunity against the dangers and responsibilities of the mining world.

Important Character Interactions

  • Feng Jun and Yi Jue debate whether Spirit Plant Dao disciples should mine Energy Stones, balancing their need for resources against safety and supervision.
  • Xuanyuan Buqi complains to Qian Zhong that Feng Jun does not trust them, while Qian Zhong offers a more sympathetic explanation.
  • Feng Jun and Yi Jue jointly inspect the disappointing Amber cache and infer that it once contained far more treasure.
  • Yi Jue provides knowledge about lower realms, Domain limits, and the Qingchuan tragedy, guiding Feng Jun’s decision to investigate it.
  • After arriving in Qingchuan, Yi Jue detects the Spirit Vein and occupied territory, while Feng Jun senses the hidden cache and privately consults the senior.
  • Feng Jun argues that the rejected cache may be best left alone, but the senior refuses, setting up a conflict between caution and possessive determination.

Ch. 2803Sudden Development

Chapter Summary: “Sudden Incident”

Key Plot Points and Events

  • Feng Jun and Yi Jue travel more than two million li to locate the Yin Soul senior’s hidden cache. They avoid major factions and eventually reach a barren region known as the Celestial Demon Battlefield, covered in solidified lava.
  • Yi Jue notices that new, unusually resilient plants have begun growing there, but chooses not to harvest them prematurely so their population can develop.
  • Feng Jun locates and activates the hidden cache. When the massive chest emerges, a terrifying aura attacks them.
  • Yi Jue attempts to protect Feng Jun but is instantly incapacitated by the aura. Feng Jun activates a Guardian-provided Protective Talisman, which creates a powerful white fog that resists the attack.
  • Following the Yin Soul senior’s instructions, Feng Jun takes out the Yin Soul Stone. A huge tree- or bamboo-like shadow emerges and battles the strange aura. Feng Jun uses the God-Binding Art to help the senior suppress and absorb it.
  • Feng Jun rescues Yi Jue, retrieves the hidden cache, releases Liu Yiyi, and escapes with both women to Blue Star just before powerful forces converge on the battlefield.
  • On Blue Star, the Guardians identify the attacking entity as a mutated soul consciousness connected to one of the Yin Soul senior’s fragments. They reveal that it had been manipulated by a Freely-Transforming Celestial Demon and had developed independent consciousness.
  • The Guardians explain that this soul consciousness caused the Tragedy of Qingchuan: it attracted countless Celestial Demons to strengthen itself, resulting in mass destruction and explaining the Qingchuan Domain Consciousness’s hostility toward the Yin Soul senior.
  • The Yin Soul senior asks the Guardians to help deal with the dangerous fragment. The Guardians refuse to help for free and demand payment, pointing out that the fragment destroyed Feng Jun’s Protective Talisman. The chapter ends with negotiations over the senior’s thirty Ultimate Spirit Stones.

Character Developments

  • Feng Jun: Demonstrates quick thinking and courage under extreme pressure. He activates the Protective Talisman, uses the Yin Soul Stone, performs the God-Binding Art despite severe pain, and successfully rescues the others. His continued sarcasm toward the Yin Soul senior shows that their relationship remains familiar and irreverent even in danger.
  • Yi Jue: Acts protectively by placing herself between Feng Jun and the mysterious attack. Though she is instantly overwhelmed, the Guardians later confirm that the assault caused only Rank Suppression and may actually benefit her Divine Soul.
  • Yin Soul Senior: Is forced to reveal vulnerability. The dangerous enemy originated from one of its own neglected soul fragments, exposing the senior’s past mistake and responsibility for the Qingchuan catastrophe. It abandons its usual arrogance and humbly seeks the Guardians’ assistance.
  • Liu Yiyi: Remains largely protected and uninvolved because Feng Jun wisely places her in the Spirit-Beast Bag before entering the dangerous area.
  • The Guardians: Show overwhelming insight and authority. They immediately understand the soul fragment’s history but remain stern and transactional, refusing to solve the senior’s problem without compensation.

Significant Themes

  • Unintended consequences: The senior’s attempt to leave behind a simple consciousness for locating its cache accidentally created a powerful, independent entity responsible for enormous destruction.
  • Hidden dangers and self-inflicted threats: The most dangerous enemy came from the senior’s own soul, making it easy to overlook and nearly impossible to anticipate.
  • Karma and responsibility: The mutated fragment accumulated immense strength through the suffering of countless cultivators, while the senior must face the consequences of failing to control it.
  • Luck and preparation: Survival depended on several narrow advantages—Yi Jue’s warning, Feng Jun’s Protective Talisman, the Yin Soul Stone, and his knowledge of the God-Binding Art. A single mistake could have killed them.
  • Power balanced by negotiation: Even a powerful figure like the Yin Soul senior must humble itself before the Guardians and pay a price for their aid.

Character Interactions

  • Yi Jue guides Feng Jun through hostile territory and warns him about the battlefield’s dangerous environment.
  • Feng Jun teases the Yin Soul senior about hiding treasure in a Celestial Demon gathering place, while the senior anxiously worries that its cache may have been lost.
  • During the crisis, the senior gives Feng Jun urgent instructions, and Feng Jun follows them while still mocking the senior’s sudden courage.
  • The Guardians confront the Yin Soul senior over its responsibility for the mutated fragment and the destruction of Feng Jun’s Protective Talisman.
  • The senior attempts to persuade the Guardians by emphasizing its long cooperation with Feng Jun, but the Guardians counter by demanding a concrete payment—specifically, a portion of the senior’s thirty Ultimate Spirit Stones.

Ch. 2804Soul-Stabilizing Pill

Chapter Summary: “Soul-Stabilizing Pill”

Key Plot Points and Events

  • The Yin Soul agrees to give the Guardian all thirty Ultimate Spirit Stones in exchange for eliminating the Celestial Demon’s aura and erasing the consciousness of its separated soul.
  • The Guardian accepts, partly because absorbing the separated soul will compensate for the stones and because the Yin Soul’s immense karma would be dangerous for anyone from the Blue Star Realm to bear.
  • The Guardian uses Heaven’s Way to complete the task almost instantly, demonstrating that its role as Blue Star’s protector allows it to mobilize the plane’s power without much personal effort.
  • It warns the Yin Soul to remain inconspicuous and not attempt to curry favor. The Yin Soul agrees, while also promising to compensate Feng Jun for the destruction of his Protective Talisman.
  • Feng Jun worries about Yi Jue, who is unconscious after the crisis. The Guardian assures him that she will recover after resting and recommends a Spirit Severing Realm Soul-Stabilizing Pill.
  • Feng Jun waits to ensure the Celestial Demon’s aura and karma have fully dispersed before returning to Libo Shoal. He then deduces that Yi Jue will awaken in five hours.
  • Yun Buyao is assigned to care for Yi Jue, while Liu Yiyi rests after being exhausted by the mission.
  • The Yin Soul announces that it will avoid contact for a month while digesting the power gained from the Qingchuan Realm. It allows Feng Jun to take anything useful from the hidden cache, but he chooses to wait and inspect it together later.
  • The Yin Soul admits that confronting the Celestial Demon was a matter of survival: either it absorbed the separated soul or was absorbed itself. It believes most of the Qingchuan Realm’s karma belongs to the Celestial Demon.
  • After Yi Jue awakens, she begins restoring her spiritual energy within Feng Jun’s manor.
  • Feng Jun summons Elder Bian Ji to determine the effects of the Soul-Stabilizing Pill. Bian Ji is surprised that Feng Jun may possess a standard Spirit Severing—or possibly even Nascent Soul—Soul-Stabilizing Pill, since standard Nascent Soul pills are no longer available in the Heavenly Zither Plane.

Character Developments

  • The Yin Soul displays unusual boldness and honesty. It reveals that its actions were driven by an unavoidable struggle for survival and expresses sincere gratitude to Feng Jun and the Guardian. Its alliance with Feng Jun becomes more mutually respectful.
  • The Guardian shows both formidable power and practical judgment. Though it pretends that the exchange required significant effort, it actually completes the task with ease through Heaven’s Way. It also demonstrates concern for propriety and fairness rather than simply taking resources.
  • Feng Jun becomes increasingly protective of Yi Jue. His concern causes him to overlook information he normally could have deduced himself, reinforcing that emotional attachment can cloud his judgment. At the same time, he remains generous and unwilling to exploit the Yin Soul unfairly.
  • Yi Jue survives the ordeal but remains physically and spiritually weakened. Her recovery begins once she awakens, and the Soul-Stabilizing Pill may help protect her Divine Soul.
  • Liu Yiyi is shown to have pushed herself to exhaustion and is allowed to prioritize her own cultivation and recovery.
  • Elder Bian Ji is characterized as a technically focused expert whose curiosity about rare alchemical products quickly overrides his annoyance at Feng Jun’s unexplained disappearance.

Significant Themes

  • Mutual exchange and fairness: The deal between the Yin Soul and Guardian is presented as balanced rather than exploitative. Both sides understand the value of what they offer.
  • Power restrained by responsibility: The Guardian possesses overwhelming authority but uses it selectively, reflecting its role as protector rather than tyrant.
  • Survival versus morality: The Yin Soul’s confrontation with the Celestial Demon is framed as a desperate necessity, complicating judgments about the karma created by the Qingchuan tragedy.
  • Concern clouding reason: Feng Jun’s worry for Yi Jue makes him forget his own deductive abilities, showing how personal attachment affects even a careful cultivator.
  • Rarity and decline of knowledge: The discussion of Soul-Stabilizing Pills highlights the loss of standard formulas and the increasing reliance on specialized, custom-made alchemy in the current era.
  • Caution and preparation: The characters repeatedly prioritize removing traces of danger, waiting for karma to dissipate, and avoiding surveillance from outside powers.

Character Interactions

  • The Guardian and Yin Soul negotiate respectfully but cautiously. The Yin Soul offers all its stones, while the Guardian demands compensation for the damage caused to Feng Jun’s Protective Talisman.
  • The Guardian and Feng Jun interact more warmly. The Guardian gently criticizes Feng Jun’s anxious questioning but reassures him about Yi Jue.
  • Feng Jun and the Yin Soul maintain a relationship based on trust and reciprocity. Feng Jun refuses to immediately take advantage of the hidden cache, while the Yin Soul promises future benefits for Yi Jue.
  • Feng Jun and Yi Jue are revealed to share a close bond, explaining his loss of composure during her injury.
  • Feng Jun and Elder Bian Ji have a practical but slightly strained relationship. Bian Ji complains about Feng Jun’s unexplained absence, but his professional interest quickly takes over when presented with the rare pill.
  • Feng Jun, Yun Buyao, and Liu Yiyi coordinate Yi Jue’s recovery, with Yun Buyao providing care and Liu Yiyi being allowed time to recuperate.

Ch. 2805Mirror Spirit's Intimidation (Second Update)

Chapter Summary: “Mirror Spirit’s Deterrence”

Key Plot Points and Events

  • Feng Jun clarifies that the pill he possesses is not an ordinary Nascent Soul Stabilizing Pill, but a rare Soul Emergence Soul-Nurturing Pill, capable of healing and stabilizing severely damaged Soul Bodies and True Nascent Souls.
  • Elder Bianji explains that such pills have become nearly lost because their primary ingredient, the Qingming Nine-Jointed Lotus Root, has been monopolized and is almost extinct. The scarcity of this treasure caused Nascent Soul Stabilizing Pills to disappear, while Soul-Stabilizing Powder became the more common alternative.
  • Feng Jun presents a white crystalline pill for appraisal. When Elder Bianji attempts to draw it closer for examination, the Mirror Spirit releases a terrifying pressure and locks onto him.
  • Elder Bianji immediately realizes that the Mirror Spirit is an existence powerful enough to kill him instantly—likely the hidden power that once intimidated True Lord Buqi. He withdraws and apologizes, claiming he only intended to appraise the pill.
  • Feng Jun publicly thanks the Mirror Spirit, reinforcing his image as someone protected by an immensely powerful senior.
  • Elder Bianji identifies the pill as a Great Prosperity Grade Soul-Stabilizing Pill, made from treasures from Heavenly Zither’s former era of abundance. He estimates that its effects could last between fifty and three hundred years.
  • He further states that the pill should be capable of stabilizing the soul of a High-Tier Spirit Severing cultivator, and that half a pill might be sufficient for someone at the Initial Spirit Severing Stage.
  • Worried that half a pill might not adequately support Yi Jue’s future cultivation, Feng Jun decides he may give her the entire pill.
  • Feng Jun reveals that the pill is intended for Fairy Yi Jue, who was injured while traveling with him.

Character Developments

  • Feng Jun: Demonstrates greater caution regarding secrecy and the value of his possessions. He is also deeply concerned about Yi Jue’s recovery and future advancement, showing his protective and responsible side.
  • Elder Bianji: Reveals himself as a highly knowledgeable and gifted alchemy expert, though his curiosity nearly causes him to overstep. The Mirror Spirit’s pressure forces him to become more careful and respectful.
  • The Mirror Spirit: Acts independently as Feng Jun’s unseen protector. Though its power is limited by the Dust-Free Realm treasure that houses it, its restored strength is still overwhelmingly superior to Elder Bianji’s cultivation.
  • Yi Jue: Does not appear directly, but her injury and importance to Feng Jun drive the chapter’s central discussion. Her possible advancement beyond Nascent Soul makes the pill’s duration especially significant.

Significant Themes

  • Scarcity and decline: The loss of rare heavenly treasures reflects the decline of Heavenly Zither’s cultivation era and explains why once-common alchemical techniques have been forgotten.
  • Knowledge versus cultivation: Elder Bianji’s status comes from his alchemical inheritance and expertise rather than merely his cultivation level, emphasizing that specialized knowledge can rival raw power in importance.
  • Respecting boundaries and hidden strength: The Mirror Spirit’s intervention demonstrates the dangers of probing another person’s possessions without permission and establishes Feng Jun’s intimidating background.
  • Preservation versus advancement: Stabilizing pills can save lives but may limit future breakthroughs. Feng Jun must weigh the pill’s immediate benefit against Yi Jue’s long-term cultivation.
  • Protection and loyalty: Feng Jun’s willingness to use an entire priceless pill for Yi Jue highlights his concern for her and the trust between them.

Character Interactions

  • Feng Jun and Elder Bianji begin with a misunderstanding over the pill’s grade and purpose, but their conversation develops into a serious appraisal of its rarity and effects.
  • Elder Bianji’s curiosity leads him to reach for the pill, prompting the Mirror Spirit to threaten him indirectly.
  • Feng Jun mediates between them by thanking the Mirror Spirit and reassuring Elder Bianji, while also using the incident to strengthen the impression that he possesses powerful protection.
  • Elder Bianji offers increasingly precise information about the pill but cannot provide a definitive duration without damaging it by scraping off some powder.
  • The discussion ultimately centers on Yi Jue, whose injury gives Feng Jun a practical reason to risk using such a precious item.

Ch. 2806Unwavering Resolve

Chapter Summary: “A Determination to Obtain It”

Key Plot Points and Events

  • Feng Jun decides to give the valuable Soul Emergence Soul-Nurturing Pill to Yi Jue, even though she is still only at the Nascent Soul stage. He believes she will soon reach Soul Emergence and needs the pill to prevent lasting damage to her Divine Soul.
  • Elder Bian Ji visits Feng Jun intending to discuss the Soul Emergence Fake-Death Pill, but becomes distracted after learning about the Soul-Nurturing Pill. His surprised reaction attracts the attention of two True Lords, Xuanyuan Buqi and Qian Zhong.
  • Under pressure, Bian Ji reveals that the pill is connected to Yi Jue, though he refuses to disclose further details because he fears offending both Feng Jun and the two True Lords.
  • Xuanyuan Buqi and Qian Zhong realize that Yi Jue must have suffered some injury, but likely not a life-threatening one, since Feng Jun is using such a precious pill to ensure that her future cultivation is not delayed.
  • The two True Lords attempt to control information about the pill by telling Bian Ji to direct all further inquiries to them. This prevents other Nascent Soul cultivators from pressuring him for details.
  • Xuanyuan Buqi becomes intensely determined to obtain at least one Soul Emergence Soul-Nurturing Pill. The Xuanyuan Family has two severely injured Soul Emergence Venerables, making the pill potentially crucial to easing the family’s burden.
  • Xuanyuan and Qian Zhong discuss visiting Yi Jue after she finishes recuperating, but Qian Zhong insists that they wait for Feng Jun to appear and prepare an appropriate gift.
  • Feng Jun returns through the Two-Way Door to Luohua Manor. He pays the Guardians the promised thirty Ultimate Spirit Stones and additional High-Grade Spirit Stones, then obtains another Protective Talisman.
  • The Guardians tease Feng Jun for risking himself to protect Yi Jue, but Feng Jun explains that a loyal cultivation partner should not be abandoned or betrayed.
  • Back at Luohua Manor, Feng Jun informs Li Shishi that he has brought back more nanorobots for Team Leader Lin. Li Shishi asks for discounts for her friends, but Feng Jun tells her that genuine friends should be worth paying for.

Character Developments

  • Feng Jun is shown to be deeply protective and generous toward Yi Jue. He is willing to spend an extremely rare pill to preserve her future advancement, demonstrating that he values loyalty and personal bonds over resource conservation.
  • Elder Bian Ji is caught between powerful figures. Though initially overwhelmed and somewhat careless, he ultimately remains cautious and refuses to betray Feng Jun’s confidence.
  • Xuanyuan Buqi becomes almost obsessive about obtaining the Soul-Nurturing Pill because of the Xuanyuan Family’s injured elders. His willingness to challenge Qian Zhong to a fight reveals the seriousness of his desperation.
  • Qian Zhong is more restrained and rational than Xuanyuan Buqi. She focuses on confirming the pill’s existence and quantity before taking action, though she too clearly wants it.
  • Yi Jue does not appear directly, but her importance is emphasized through the extraordinary value Feng Jun places on her recovery and the respect she commands from powerful cultivators.
  • The Guardians continue their transactional but somewhat protective relationship with Feng Jun. They provide him another Protective Talisman while reminding him to avoid unnecessary kindness and danger.
  • Li Shishi remains somewhat childish and overly frugal despite becoming wealthy, creating a lighthearted contrast with the chapter’s tense negotiations.

Significant Themes

  • Loyalty versus material value: Feng Jun’s willingness to use a priceless pill for Yi Jue contrasts with the utilitarian calculations of others who view the pill primarily as a means to save powerful family members.
  • Scarcity and competition: The possible existence of the Soul Emergence Soul-Nurturing Pill immediately creates tension among major factions, suggesting that its rarity could provoke conflict.
  • Family responsibility: Xuanyuan Buqi’s urgency is driven by his obligation to the injured members of his family, showing how powerful clans remain burdened by the condition of their elders.
  • Power and diplomacy: Bian Ji must carefully navigate between Feng Jun and the True Lords, while Xuanyuan and Qian Zhong use their authority to suppress rumors and control access to information.
  • Protection and mutual benefit: Feng Jun and the Guardians view the Protective Talisman not merely as personal protection but as something that enables Feng Jun to continue gathering resources and supporting others.

Character Interactions

  • Feng Jun and Elder Bian Ji discuss Yi Jue’s treatment, with Feng Jun firmly defending his decision to use the Soul-Nurturing Pill.
  • Xuanyuan Buqi and Qian Zhong pressure Bian Ji for information, but Bian Ji avoids betraying Feng Jun. The True Lords then use their authority to shield him from further questioning.
  • Xuanyuan and Qian Zhong argue over who needs the pill more, with Xuanyuan’s desperation nearly provoking a fight. Their exchange highlights both their rivalry and their shared interest in the pill.
  • Feng Jun and the Guardians negotiate over payment and protection. Feng Jun justifies his concern for Yi Jue by emphasizing trust and loyalty.
  • Feng Jun and Li Shishi engage in a humorous dispute over whether she should pay for nanorobots intended for her friends, reinforcing their familiar employer-steward dynamic.

Ch. 2808Recreate Spiritual Energy

Chapter Summary

Key Plot Points and Events

  • Beauty Lin arrives at Luohua Manor to oversee the handover of new resources. Feng Jun discovers that she has begun cultivating after persuading her superiors that her long-standing familiarity with him makes her indispensable.
  • Beauty Lin informs Feng Jun that the military has provided three battalions’ worth of warships, in addition to five million doses of nanorobots. Feng Jun decides to send these supplies to the Lakemarta Desert rather than Thousand Province.
  • Feng Jun reveals his plan to recreate Spiritual Energy in the Lakemarta Desert. He deliberately chooses the exposed desert so that changes in the environment—and any animals unusually sensitive to Spiritual Energy—can be observed. Preparations will include afforestation, underground facilities, power infrastructure, and three electric-powered Rain-Praying Formations.
  • Zhang Caixin delivers the warships, nanorobots, and Rain-Praying Formations. When observers make a disrespectful remark about her, she immediately senses them from more than two kilometers away and orders everyone to withdraw beyond twenty kilometers before she will unload the equipment.
  • Feng Jun returns to Libo Shoal and resumes deducing a new Magic Treasure while waiting for Yi Jue to recover.
  • Yi Jue eventually appears, suffering from an unsettled Sea of Consciousness and reduced vitality but no serious injury. Feng Jun offers her a rare Soul Emergence Soul-Nurturing Pill and performs a Deduction to assess her condition.
  • The Deduction confirms that Yi Jue has not truly been harmed and may even be in a better position than before. She could potentially break through to the Soul Emergence Realm within two years. Feng Jun sends her back to her cave residence to recuperate, agreeing to retrieve her after half a month.
  • At Yi Jue’s cave residence, Feng Jun performs another Deduction and confirms the same result. He then learns that Yi Jue’s recruitment task has filled all five hundred positions.
  • Feng Jun transports the recruited Spirit Plant Dao disciples to the Insectoid World for mining. Yi Jue accompanies him and casually suggests another trip to Xingzheng Star, where she and two True Lords had previously observed his trade dealings.

Character Developments

  • Feng Jun: Becomes increasingly confident and expansive in his plans. He now treats major military resources as relatively ordinary and focuses on the much larger goal of restoring Spiritual Energy. He also shows continued concern for Yi Jue’s safety and advancement, while maintaining his usual guardedness about his activities.
  • Beauty Lin: Begins cultivation and strengthens her position as Feng Jun’s trusted intermediary. She demonstrates practical political judgment by arranging infrastructure and making the case for the Lakemarta Desert, though she remains wary of Feng Jun’s unusual plans.
  • Zhang Caixin: Displays powerful perception, discipline, and an intimidatingly cold temperament. Her reaction to the observers reinforces her status as someone not to be underestimated.
  • Yi Jue: Recovers from her encounter and reveals that her condition may be connected to an opportunity for future advancement. She remains protective of Feng Jun and is reluctant to leave him without security, while also continuing her own responsibilities and research.
  • Spirit Plant Dao disciples: Their willingness to join the mining expedition shows that Yi Jue’s straightforward promise of payment and Energy Stones makes dangerous or bureaucratic work more acceptable.

Significant Themes

  • Recreating Spiritual Energy and ecological transformation: Feng Jun’s desert project combines cultivation goals with environmental restoration, suggesting that spiritual advancement and ecological improvement may develop together.
  • Power and changing scale: Warships, nanorobots, and advanced infrastructure—once extraordinary resources—have become routine to Feng Jun, emphasizing his growing influence and the widening scale of his ambitions.
  • Trust and long-term cooperation: Beauty Lin’s cultivation preserves an established relationship with Feng Jun, while Yi Jue’s decision to remain near him reflects mutual reliance and concern.
  • Caution versus experimentation: Feng Jun carefully tests Spiritual Energy in an observable location, evaluates Yi Jue through Deduction, and prepares infrastructure before beginning major experiments.
  • Hidden strength and danger: Zhang Caixin’s detection of distant observers and Yi Jue’s concealed physical condition both show that appearances are unreliable in the cultivator world.

Character Interactions

  • Feng Jun and Beauty Lin maintain a familiar, teasing relationship, but their conversation also reveals serious strategic planning regarding cultivation, military supplies, and the desert project.
  • Feng Jun firmly corrects Beauty Lin when she speculates about animals gaining intelligence, indirectly acknowledging that the unusual butterfly at his manor is an exception.
  • Zhang Caixin’s brief exchange with the desert observers establishes her authority and forces them to recognize the danger of underestimating her.
  • Feng Jun and Yi Jue interact with increasing trust: he offers her a priceless healing pill, investigates her condition, and insists that she protect her future breakthrough, while she worries about his safety and agrees to return to her cave residence.
  • Yi Jue accompanies Feng Jun during the Insectoid World expedition, showing that their cooperation extends beyond personal recovery into shared duties and continued exploration.

Ch. 2809Really Asking for a Beating

Chapter Summary: “So Damn Punchable”

Key Plot Points and Events

  • Feng Jun refuses to let the injured Yi Jue accompany him to Xingzheng Star, insisting that she return to her cave abode and recuperate. He promises not to visit Xingzheng Star himself, preserving their bargaining position.
  • After returning to Libo Shoal, Feng Jun sends the Mirror Spirit away because Yi Jue is absent and he has no Magic Treasures to refine. Xuanyuan Buqi and Qian Zhong immediately arrive to discuss the Soul-Stabilizing Pill.
  • Xuanyuan Buqi reveals that the Xuanyuan Family lacks a Soul Emergence Soul-Quelling Pill but desperately wants Feng Jun’s Soul-Stabilizing Pill. He offers two virgin Nascent Soul Earth Cultivators from his own family as cauldrons, demonstrating the immense value he places on the pill.
  • Feng Jun rejects the idea of a direct exchange and announces that he may auction the pill for Ultimate Spirit Stones. This alarms Xuanyuan Buqi, who fears that powerful families and sects could outbid the Xuanyuan Family or use the transaction as an opportunity to attack them.
  • Feng Jun suggests several possible auction venues, including Yiyao and the Shanhai Sector, but realizes that enemy forces such as the Myriad Illusions Sect or Wood Spirit Dao might participate. He then proposes that Yi Jue oversee the auction, since her status and the Spirit Plant Dao’s influence would allow her to control who ultimately receives the pill.
  • Xuanyuan Buqi urges Feng Jun to reconsider and pursue a private deal. Feng Jun complains that neither the Xuanyuan nor Yao Families can provide the pills he needs despite their ancient foundations.
  • Qian Zhong calmly explains that the Yao Family’s resources have been depleted, forcing it into seclusion. She says she will first strive to obtain one Soul Emergence Pill and leave the rest to fate.
  • The discussion turns to Yi Jue’s injuries. Feng Jun confirms that the true culprit has already been killed and downplays the seriousness of Yi Jue’s wounds, indirectly revealing that the Soul-Stabilizing Pill remains available.
  • Feng Jun shows them a newly created Protective Talisman, explaining that the previous one was destroyed during the recent conflict. Qian Zhong determines that the talisman can withstand a True Lord’s attack and was made by an extremely powerful elder of Feng Jun’s “sect.”
  • The chapter ends with Xuanyuan Buqi asking whether he and Qian Zhong would also have died had they accompanied Feng Jun during the dangerous encounter.

Character Developments

  • Feng Jun: Becomes increasingly cautious and politically savvy. He avoids revealing the pill’s true availability, refuses to surrender control through a private deal, and considers auctioning it while remaining aware of the dangers created by his fame. His frustration with the ancient families’ lack of resources also reveals his growing confidence and bluntness.
  • Yi Jue: Though absent for most of the chapter, she remains central. Her influence is shown to be strong enough that she could safely supervise the auction, and Feng Jun trusts her judgment and reputation.
  • Xuanyuan Buqi: His desperation for the Soul-Stabilizing Pill becomes clear through his shocking offer of family members as cauldrons. However, he is also acutely aware of the Xuanyuan Family’s weakened condition and the risks of an auction. His proud, forceful attitude leaves him embarrassed when Feng Jun subtly criticizes it.
  • Qian Zhong: Demonstrates composure, intelligence, and honesty by acknowledging the Yao Family’s decline without appearing weak. Her measured manner earns Feng Jun’s respect and reminds him of his mother.
  • The Mirror Spirit: Remains an important source of hidden power. Feng Jun’s comments imply that it is at least at the Tribulation Transcendence Stage and possibly connected to forces even stronger than ordinary cultivators.

Significant Themes

  • Power and bargaining: Feng Jun emphasizes that appearing too eager weakens one’s negotiating position. The pill’s value is measured not only in wealth but in family honor, political stability, and survival.
  • Decline of ancient powers: Despite their long histories, the Xuanyuan and Yao Families lack the resources they once possessed. Their former foundations have been consumed by years of conflict and cultivation expenses.
  • Reputation versus real authority: Feng Jun has widespread fame, but Yi Jue possesses institutional credibility through the Spirit Plant Dao. The chapter contrasts public popularity with genuine influence and legitimacy.
  • Risk and strategic caution: A private deal, auction, or transport of the pill could all provoke ambushes or retaliation. Every possible solution carries political and physical danger.
  • Family sacrifice and humiliation: Xuanyuan Buqi’s offer highlights the extreme sacrifices powerful families may make for their survival, while also exposing the personal and social cost of treating family members as resources.
  • Hidden strength: Feng Jun’s mysterious “sect elder” and Protective Talisman reinforce the uncertainty surrounding his true backing and the dangerous forces protecting him.

Character Interactions

  • Feng Jun and Yi Jue: Their relationship is cooperative and trusting. Feng Jun protects her recovery while relying on her authority as a possible solution to the auction problem.
  • Feng Jun and Xuanyuan Buqi: Their exchange is tense but humorous. Buqi presses aggressively for the pill, while Feng Jun counters with sarcasm and strategic ambiguity, making Buqi realize how precarious his family’s position is.
  • Feng Jun and Qian Zhong: Their conversation is more respectful and measured. Qian Zhong’s frank admission of the Yao Family’s weakness impresses Feng Jun, who responds by softening his own demands.
  • Xuanyuan Buqi and Qian Zhong: Both want the pill but represent rival family interests. Their shared frustration at Feng Jun’s provocations briefly unites them, especially when both silently regard his complaints as “so damn punchable.”
  • Feng Jun and the hidden powers behind him: His discussion of the Protective Talisman hints that his allies or “sect elders” are powerful enough to deter even Tribulation Transcendence cultivators, increasing the mystery surrounding his true background.

Ch. 2810A True Lord's Doubts

Summary of “A True Lord’s Doubts”

Key Plot Points and Events

  • Feng Jun explains that he fought and killed an extraordinarily powerful opponent, apparently at or above the True Lord level. The enemy never had time to use a divine ability, and the battle was so destructive that space itself shattered.
  • Yi Jue was present during the encounter and was injured in a single exchange, though Feng Jun insists he was the attack’s true target. He survived because of a Protective Talisman and a Soul-Stabilizing Pill, but the impact nearly destroyed his Sea of Consciousness.
  • Feng Jun reveals that the enormous karma from killing the opponent was erased by his mysterious “elder,” implying that this elder exists above the Tribulation Transcendence Stage.
  • Qian Zhong suspects the event may be connected to Qingchuan Realm, where the Yao Family recently detected a battle involving at least Spirit Severing-level cultivators—far beyond what the contaminated realm should normally permit.
  • The battle caused terrifying fluctuations capable of destroying the entire Domain, yet Qingchuan Realm survived. The Celestial Demon aura there has also weakened, and the Domain shows no signs of expelling the combatants.
  • Qian Zhong and Xuanyuan Buqi debate whether to investigate. Qian Zhong subtly probes the remaining strength of the Xuanyuan Family by suggesting that Spirit Severing disciples be sent, while Xuanyuan Buqi avoids revealing his family’s resources.
  • Xuanyuan Buqi ultimately dismisses the possibility that Feng Jun and Yi Jue were involved, claiming they are too young to be connected to the Tragedy of Qingchuan. His confident judgment influences Qian Zhong to stop pressing the matter.
  • Worried that the Yao Family may uncover his involvement in Qingchuan Realm or expose the secrets behind his hidden treasury, Feng Jun proposes that he, Qian Zhong, and Xuanyuan Buqi investigate Qingchuan together.

Character Developments

  • Feng Jun: His terrifying combat strength becomes more apparent, as does the danger surrounding his mysterious elder and hidden resources. Despite acting casual and evasive, he is deeply concerned about the consequences of his actions in Qingchuan Realm and seeks to control the investigation.
  • Qian Zhong: She demonstrates sharp perception, strong intelligence-gathering abilities, and a willingness to test others indirectly. Her concern about Qingchuan is partly genuine and partly a way to assess Feng Jun and the Xuanyuan Family.
  • Xuanyuan Buqi: He remains outwardly bold and straightforward but reveals considerable political awareness. He recognizes when he is probing too aggressively, uses humor and strategic retreat to protect his family, and ultimately makes a decision that shapes Qian Zhong’s response.
  • Yi Jue: Though she does not appear directly in the discussion, her injury emphasizes the overwhelming power of the unknown opponent and clarifies that Feng Jun was the primary target.

Significant Themes

  • Power beyond conventional understanding: Feng Jun’s survival and the erasure of immense karma suggest forces operating far above the True Lord and Tribulation Transcendence stages.
  • Secrecy and concealed strength: Feng Jun hides the circumstances of the battle, while Qian Zhong and Xuanyuan Buqi conceal or probe the resources of their respective families.
  • Political maneuvering: The conversation is as much about testing alliances and gathering information as it is about Qingchuan. Both True Lords carefully balance curiosity, suspicion, and the need to preserve face.
  • Karma and consequences: The chapter emphasizes that extraordinary acts carry immense karmic repercussions, even if a powerful elder can mitigate them.
  • Unstable realms and hidden opportunities: Qingchuan Realm’s unusual changes suggest that contamination, Celestial Demon aura, and the aftermath of past disasters may conceal valuable secrets or dangerous developments.

Character Interactions

  • Feng Jun gives deliberately vague answers, frustrating the two True Lords while revealing just enough to demonstrate his strength.
  • Qian Zhong questions Feng Jun about the battle and later links it to Qingchuan Realm through subtle probing.
  • Xuanyuan Buqi notices the private exchange between Feng Jun and Qian Zhong and challenges them, then shifts into a defensive political stance when the discussion touches on his family.
  • Qian Zhong and Xuanyuan Buqi spar verbally over how to investigate Qingchuan, each trying to learn how much power the other’s family still possesses.
  • Feng Jun’s final proposal to investigate Qingchuan together attempts to turn potential suspicion into a cooperative expedition.

Ch. 2811Ringvault Domain (First Update)

Sky-Ring Domain — Chapter Summary

Key Plot Points and Events

  • Feng Jun considers returning to the unstable Qingchuan Realm to investigate its upheaval, but True Lords Qian Zhong and Xuanyuan Buqi advise against it because of the hidden dangers.
  • Instead, they suggest visiting another lower realm. Feng Jun agrees, partly to broaden his experience and partly to maintain a good relationship with the two True Lords.
  • Xuanyuan Buqi proposes the powerful Sky-Ring Domain, which contains many Soul Emergence cultivators, demon cultivators, and unusual Secret Realms.
  • Feng Jun prepares for the journey by leaving the Mirror Spirit to guard Libo Shoal. Before departure, Elder Bian Ji visits again to discuss the stalled Fake-Death Pill research.
  • Feng Jun brings Yu Qingzhu along because of her Spatial Constitution, which could help with escape or emergency movement. He promises her a Life Potion for her grandfather as compensation.
  • To protect her from the dangers of inter-domain travel and Plane Power, Feng Jun places Yu Qingzhu inside a Spirit-Beast Bag. She dislikes the experience but accepts it after Feng Jun explains the risks.
  • The group reaches the Sky-Ring Domain through Xuanyuan Buqi’s anchor point. They arrive among a large gathering of Xuanyuan Family cultivators.
  • The Xuanyuan Family has prepared an impressive force: more than ten Nascent Soul cultivators and dozens of Gold Core cultivators. Their presence demonstrates the family’s strength and influence in the domain.
  • Xuanyuan Hullie, a young High-Tier Nascent Soul cultivator from the family’s main branch, has been appointed to oversee the domain’s Xuanyuan Secret Realm and prevent the local branch from appearing weak or declining.
  • Hullie introduces the family members to Feng Jun, including Xuanyuan Youdao, a female Nascent Soul cultivator known for being emotionally detached despite her name and reputation for having attained the Dao.

Character Developments

  • Feng Jun continues to present himself as a curious seeker of knowledge while carefully concealing his deeper motives and concerns. He shows diplomatic awareness by accepting the True Lords’ decision about Qingchuan and agreeing to travel with them.
  • He also demonstrates responsibility toward his companions, especially by worrying about the danger a True Lord might face while accompanying him and by arranging Yu Qingzhu’s safety.
  • Qian Zhong remains cautious and distrustful of Xuanyuan Buqi, even going so far as to wrap Feng Jun in her sleeve during travel so that Buqi cannot scheme against him without also endangering her.
  • Xuanyuan Buqi attempts to strengthen his relationship with Feng Jun and uses the Sky-Ring Domain trip to display the Xuanyuan Family’s resources and influence.
  • Yu Qingzhu advances to the peak of the first layer of the Dust-Free Realm. Though embarrassed by being released from the Spirit-Beast Bag in front of a crowd, she behaves respectfully and accepts Feng Jun’s arrangements.
  • Elder Bian Ji remains deeply invested in developing the Fake-Death Pill, but the research is slow and time-consuming even with Feng Jun’s assistance.
  • Xuanyuan Hullie is presented as a capable and relatively young family representative whose appointment is meant to restore confidence in the Xuanyuan Family’s strength in the domain.
  • Xuanyuan Youdao is introduced as a highly talented but emotionally detached cultivator, creating an awkward contrast between her name, her cultivation, and her apparent lack of ordinary feelings.

Significant Themes

  • Risk versus curiosity: Feng Jun wants to observe Qingchuan’s instability, but the group recognizes that knowledge is not worth taking unnecessary risks.
  • Political influence and family reputation: The Xuanyuan Family’s large delegation and appointment of Hullie show how cultivation families use personnel and displays of strength to maintain status.
  • Trust and suspicion: Qian Zhong’s guarded behavior contrasts with Xuanyuan Buqi’s attempts to build trust and cooperation with Feng Jun.
  • Protection and responsibility: Feng Jun’s concern for Yu Qingzhu and the True Lords reflects the dangers of traveling across domains and the obligations created by close alliances.
  • Cultivation and resources: The Life Potion, Fake-Death Pill, Secret Realms, and domain travel all emphasize the value of rare resources, breakthroughs, and long-term preparation.
  • Social awkwardness beneath immortal power: Despite their immense cultivation, the characters still deal with embarrassment, rivalry, family politics, and interpersonal discomfort.

Character Interactions

  • Qian Zhong and Xuanyuan Buqi debate the wisdom of visiting Qingchuan and later discuss, through Divine Thought, how to exploit the Sky-Ring Domain’s greater opportunities.
  • Feng Jun negotiates the trip while subtly signaling respect for the True Lords, admitting that he is more accustomed to traveling with Yi Jue.
  • Feng Jun explains the necessity of using the Spirit-Beast Bag to Yu Qingzhu, who reluctantly accepts the arrangement.
  • At the Sky-Ring Domain, Feng Jun introduces Yu Qingzhu to the Xuanyuan descendants. A senior Xuanyuan cultivator offers her a generous meeting gift, which she initially refuses out of caution but accepts after Feng Jun encourages her.
  • Xuanyuan Buqi has Hullie introduce the gathered family members, using the event to establish Feng Jun’s importance and emphasize the Xuanyuan Family’s strength.
  • Hullie’s introduction of Xuanyuan Youdao creates an amusingly awkward moment, as he encourages the younger cultivators to become acquainted with her despite describing her as detached from worldly emotions.

Ch. 2812The Way Is Ruthless (Second Update)

Chapter Summary

Xuanyuan Youdao’s background and character

Xuanyuan Youdao is a prodigious cultivator from the Xuanyuan Family of the Smile Secondary Plane. Raised through various secret realms to adapt to different laws, she reached the Nascent Soul Stage at only 410 years old and has already touched the threshold of the Middle Nascent Soul Stage. Her exceptional talent has made her proud, aloof, and largely indifferent to romance or Dao companions. Although her name suggests the “Ruthless Dao,” she does not actually cultivate that path; she chose the name in her youth because she liked its implication.

The proposed Dao companion meeting

Patriarch Xuanyuan Buqi has selected Feng Jun as a possible Dao companion for Youdao. She initially finds the arrangement unusual, since Feng Jun’s cultivation is far below hers, but his extraordinary reputation and astonishingly young age make her willing to meet him. She does not feel genuine affection, however, and regards the meeting as an assessment rather than a romantic encounter.

Feng Jun’s reaction

Feng Jun realizes that Youdao has retained her “Red Pill,” meaning she has never had a romantic or sexual relationship. Rather than being tempted, he becomes cautious. He already has several women around him and considers himself responsible for relationships he begins. He also doubts that forming a relationship with a proud Nascent Soul cultivator from the Xuanyuan Family would be easy.

Yu Qingzhu’s deliberate appearance

To subtly indicate that he is not available for an arranged romance, Feng Jun releases Yu Qingzhu, an attractive Dust-Free Realm Earth Cultivator, during the introduction. Yu Qingzhu’s presence is meant to discourage discussion of Dao companions. Youdao immediately recognizes the implication and is surprised by Qingzhu’s refined beauty, while Qingzhu feels uncomfortable under the scrutiny of the Xuanyuan Family and Youdao.

Interaction between Xuanyuan Buqi and Qian Zhong

Qian Zhong is displeased that Buqi has brought so many people to meet her while she is trying to live in seclusion. She remarks that Feng Jun’s ability to appear and disappear makes every family wary. In response, Buqi mischievously introduces her to the Xuanyuan disciples as a senior whose status should equal his own. The disciples salute her, but Qian Zhong pointedly refuses to give them gifts, revealing a subtle but humorous tension between her and Buqi.

Visit to the Xuanyuan territory

Buqi explains that they are still far from the actual entrance to the Xuanyuan Family’s Secret Realm. After arriving near the family’s lands, the group spends the afternoon touring the surrounding mountains and unusual scenery. Feng Jun expresses interest in seeing the famous Scorching Sun Profound Ice Cave, and Buqi confirms that arrangements have been made.

Cultivation and dietary treasures

Buqi encourages Feng Jun to eat and use dietary supplements while still at the Gold Core Stage, explaining that such resources become less meaningful at higher cultivation levels. Feng Jun jokes that enjoying food is itself part of the meaning of cultivation and mentions that treasures useful for his Primordial Chaos Heaven-Devouring Technique might benefit his future advancement. Buqi assigns Youdao to obtain suitable treasures for him, effectively giving her another opportunity to interact with Feng Jun.

Ending interaction

Youdao asks whether Feng Jun personally deduced the Gold Core portion of the Primordial Chaos Heaven-Devouring Technique. After he answers briefly, she presses him for technical guidance about the transformation of “kidney water” into “kidney essence” after forming a Gold Core and obtaining a Flawless Body. The chapter ends with her probing question, suggesting that her interest in Feng Jun may be driven as much by his cultivation knowledge as by the proposed relationship.

Major Themes

  • Pride and exceptional talent: Youdao’s overwhelming cultivation talent has isolated her from ordinary relationships and reinforced her confidence.
  • Family influence versus personal choice: The Xuanyuan Family arranges potential marriages for its prodigies, though Youdao is granted unusual freedom because of her irreplaceable value.
  • Romance as responsibility: Feng Jun’s restraint reflects his awareness that relationships create obligations, not merely opportunities for pleasure.
  • Humorous social maneuvering: Feng Jun, Buqi, and Qian Zhong all communicate indirectly through teasing, introductions, and carefully staged appearances.
  • Cultivation knowledge as attraction: Youdao’s final question indicates that Feng Jun’s unique understanding of cultivation may be the most compelling aspect of him to her.

Ch. 2813The Host Becomes the Guest (Third Update)

Chapter Summary: “The Guest Usurps the Host”

Key Plot Points and Events

  • Xuanyuan Youdao questions Feng Jun about how he deduced the Primordial Chaos Heaven-Devouring Technique. Feng Jun carefully avoids presenting himself as an expert in Dao discourse.
  • He explains that his deductions rely mainly on exhaustive enumeration—eliminating incorrect possibilities until only the correct answer remains—rather than profound comprehension of the Dao. This shocks the gathered cultivators, who recognize the enormous computational power such a method would normally require.
  • Feng Jun refuses to reveal further details, claiming that the method is a core inheritance protected by a restriction in his Divine Soul. Qian Zhong attempts to ask what would be required to obtain the next stage of knowledge, but Feng Jun politely declines.
  • The Xuanyuan Family hosts a lavish banquet. Xuanyuan Youdao performs a flute piece, demonstrating her accomplishments in the musical Dao.
  • Feng Jun gifts one hundred rare Heavenly Fragrance Fruits to the Xuanyuan Family’s Nascent Soul and Gold Core cultivators. Xuanyuan Buqi calculates that eighty-seven people qualify, while Feng Jun generously allows the remaining fruits to be distributed among other disciples.
  • The next morning, the group travels to the Scorching Sun Profound Ice Cave, a famous region where intense heat causes underground Profound Ice to grow thicker.
  • Along the way, a Nascent Soul cultivator explains the cave’s natural principles. Feng Jun admits that he understands some principles only practically and does not insist on mastering every underlying theory.
  • Yu Qingzhu adds her own explanation, comparing the cave to the Millennium Ice Cave in Jinzhou. Her comments ease an awkward moment caused by the difference in cultivation levels and knowledge.
  • At the ice cave, a Nascent Soul Middle Stage cultivator from the Fire Spirit Sect appears and announces that his sect has temporarily occupied it, despite the cave being a mining area belonging to the Xuanyuan Family and two other clans.
  • Elder Hu Lie angrily accuses the Fire Spirit Sect of “usurping the host’s place,” setting up a confrontation.

Character Developments

  • Feng Jun: Displays caution, humility, and strong boundaries. He refuses to be drawn into an extensive Dao discussion or reveal the secrets of his deduction method. At the same time, he demonstrates generosity through his gift of Heavenly Fragrance Fruits and shows a pragmatic approach to knowledge: he values useful application more than understanding every theoretical detail.
  • Xuanyuan Youdao: Reveals herself to be deeply interested in Deduction and eager to understand Feng Jun’s methods. Though initially skeptical of his claim that deduction does not equal Dao comprehension, she becomes more perceptive about his practical philosophy. Her flute performance shows her mastery of another Dao.
  • Xuanyuan Buqi: Acts as a protective host and intermediary. He encourages Feng Jun to answer Youdao, manages the fruit distribution, and clearly values maintaining the Xuanyuan Family’s dignity and relationships.
  • Qian Zhong: Shows curiosity about Feng Jun’s inheritance and indirectly tests whether its secrets can be purchased, but backs down when Feng Jun refuses.
  • Yu Qingzhu: Demonstrates that her knowledge is broader than her cultivation level might suggest. Her understanding of the Blue Star Realm’s ice caves allows her to contribute meaningfully and prevent the conversation from becoming uncomfortable.
  • Elder Hu Lie: Acts decisively as a defender of the Xuanyuan Family’s interests and immediately recognizes the Fire Spirit Sect’s occupation as an insult and violation of territorial rights.

Significant Themes

  • Knowledge versus practical ability: The chapter distinguishes theoretical comprehension of the Dao from successful technical deduction. Feng Jun’s methods work even though he does not claim profound Dao insight.
  • The limits of disclosure: Cultivators may exchange ideas, but inheritances remain protected. Feng Jun carefully balances courtesy with secrecy.
  • Humility and self-positioning: Feng Jun repeatedly downplays his qualifications, partly out of genuine caution and partly to avoid being drawn into dangerous scrutiny.
  • Generosity and social diplomacy: Feng Jun’s fruit gift reinforces goodwill with the Xuanyuan Family and allows him to maintain influence without openly seeking power.
  • Hospitality and territorial authority: The Xuanyuan banquet establishes the family as the host, while the Fire Spirit Sect’s occupation of the ice cave violates that social and political order.
  • Different approaches to cultivation: The chapter contrasts abstract study, practical application, technical skill, musical cultivation, and natural philosophy.

Character Interactions

  • Feng Jun and Xuanyuan Youdao: Their exchange is polite but guarded. Youdao presses him for insight, while Feng Jun answers just enough to establish his position without exposing his secrets.
  • Feng Jun and Xuanyuan Buqi: Buqi supports Feng Jun publicly and encourages him to engage with Youdao, while Feng Jun responds respectfully and later repays the family’s hospitality with his gift.
  • Feng Jun and Qian Zhong: Qian Zhong probes the possibility of obtaining Feng Jun’s next deduction, but Feng Jun firmly refuses.
  • Feng Jun and Yu Qingzhu: Yu Qingzhu unexpectedly supports Feng Jun’s practical outlook by explaining the ice cave phenomenon from her own experience.
  • Elder Hu Lie and the Fire Spirit Sect: Their interaction is openly hostile. Hu Lie views the sect’s occupation as a direct challenge to the Xuanyuan Family’s authority, bringing the chapter to the brink of conflict.

Ch. 2814Elder Yue Yi

Chapter Summary:

Elder Yue Yi

Key Plot Points and Events

  • The Scorching Sun Profound Ice Cave contains regenerating Profound Ice, a useful but not exceptionally rare cultivation resource. The Xuanyuan Family, along with two local families, has legal control over the site through a rotating mining agreement.
  • Although it is not the Xuanyuan Family’s year to mine, Elder Hu Lie insists that the Fire Spirit Sect cannot occupy the cave without permission. He argues that the Xuanyuan Family’s financial stake and role in maintaining order effectively make the cave their territory.
  • The Fire Spirit Sect claims that one of its elders is inside the cave using Profound Ice to suppress a dangerous Fire Toxin. The sect’s representative refuses to reveal the elder’s identity, citing sect secrets and personal honor.
  • Upon recognizing Feng Jun and Xuanyuan Buqi, the Fire Spirit Sect cultivator becomes alarmed. Feng Jun is known as Mountain Lord Feng, while Xuanyuan Buqi is a powerful True Lord and major Xuanyuan Family figure.
  • Qian Zhong appears and sharply reprimands the Fire Spirit Sect cultivator for blocking two True Lords. She is revealed to be another True Lord accompanying Xuanyuan Buqi.
  • The hidden elder permits Feng Jun, Xuanyuan Buqi, Qian Zhong, Yu Qingzhu, and Xuanyuan Family cultivators to enter the cave.
  • Inside, they meet Elder Yue Yi, a handsome but visibly unusual cultivator whose eyes flash with white light. Qian Zhong and Xuanyuan Buqi identify his condition as an injury caused by the rare anomalous flame known as Thunderfire.
  • Yue Yi reveals that he had been searching for Senior Sister Qingji or a way to contact Feng Jun. He sees Feng Jun’s arrival as a sign that Heaven has not abandoned him.
  • Yue Yi explains that he is connected to the Golden Crow Upper Sect and had returned to the Fire Spirit Sect to stabilize its situation. He also has a close relationship with Qingji, who ascended from the Kunhao Realm earlier than he did and has long looked after him.

Character Developments

  • Feng Jun: His reputation has spread widely enough that even cultivators from other realms and sects recognize him immediately. His expertise in Deduction and reputation as a healer make him Yue Yi’s hoped-for solution.
  • Xuanyuan Buqi: Demonstrates the authority and intimidation associated with a True Lord. He is willing to threaten the Fire Spirit Sect but also respects their need to protect confidential sect matters.
  • Qian Zhong: Shows her normally calm personality but displays sharp pride and a strong concern for dignity when the Fire Spirit Sect cultivator obstructs her and Buqi. Her appearance confirms that Feng Jun is traveling with multiple True Lords.
  • Elder Hu Lie: Acts as the Xuanyuan Family’s forceful representative, defending its interests through aggressive reasoning and political pressure.
  • Yu Qingzhu: Displays her preparation and knowledge by identifying the Fire Spirit Sect’s connection to the Golden Crow Sect. Her close relationship with Feng Jun is evident when she calls him “Boss.”
  • Elder Yue Yi: Is revealed to be an extremely powerful Fire Spirit Sect elder afflicted by Thunderfire. Despite his status, he is in a vulnerable position and must seek outside help. His ties to Qingji and the Golden Crow Upper Sect explain his importance.

Significant Themes

  • Political authority and resource control: The dispute shows how cultivation resources are governed not only by formal agreements but also by power, reputation, and “protection” arrangements.
  • Reputation as power: Recognition of Feng Jun, Xuanyuan Buqi, and Qian Zhong immediately changes the Fire Spirit Sect’s attitude and prevents conflict.
  • Honor and secrecy: The Fire Spirit Sect refuses to expose Yue Yi’s identity, emphasizing that sect secrets and reputation can be worth risking one’s life to protect.
  • Unusual cultivation phenomena: Thunderfire challenges the normal separation between elemental cultivation systems, highlighting the existence of rare and unpredictable anomalies.
  • Connections across realms: Yue Yi’s relationship with Qingji and the Golden Crow Sect demonstrates how ascension creates political and personal ties between different cultivation worlds.

Character Interactions

  • Elder Hu Lie confronts the Fire Spirit Sect cultivator over its unauthorized presence, while the latter argues that the Han Family permitted the sect to stay.
  • Xuanyuan Buqi pressures the cultivator for an explanation, but ultimately accepts his refusal to reveal the elder’s identity.
  • Yu Qingzhu quietly informs Feng Jun about the Fire Spirit Sect’s connection to the Golden Crow Sect, reinforcing their close partnership.
  • Qian Zhong and Xuanyuan Buqi compete humorously over whose reputation is better known while jointly intimidating the opposing cultivator.
  • Yue Yi respectfully welcomes the two True Lords and Feng Jun, expressing hope that Feng Jun can save him from the Thunderfire injury.
  • Yue Yi’s mention of Senior Sister Qingji establishes a personal and political connection that may allow Feng Jun to assist him.

Ch. 2815Chaotic Wasteland

Chapter Summary: Chaos Wasteland

Key Plot Points and Events

  • Elder Yue Yi of the Fire Spirit Sect seeks Feng Jun’s help to treat severe injuries caused by fire toxin. Because of his poor relationship with Feng Jun and his inability to leave the Ring-Dome Realm, Yue Yi cannot simply invite Feng Jun to the Upper Realm or visit Libo Shoal.
  • Yue Yi has been suppressing the toxin in the Scorching Sun Profound Ice Cave, borrowing the Han Family’s territory. Feng Jun deduces a treatment plan, but it requires rare herbs and treasures primarily found in the Heavenly Zither Upper Realm.
  • Yue Yi asks Feng Jun either to provide the medicines or deduce suitable substitutes from the Ring-Dome Realm. Qian Zhong offers to sell the necessary herbs, but only if Yue Yi reveals how he received his injuries. Yue Yi refuses, unwilling to disclose the matter.
  • Members of the Xuanyuan Family and Fire Spirit Sect provide local medicinal resources. Using these samples, Feng Jun successfully deduces alternatives that Yue Yi believes he can obtain.
  • Yue Yi asks to remain in the Profound Ice Cave. Xuanyuan Hullie agrees to contact the Han Family, making it clear that Yue Yi may stay only with their consent. The Han Family agrees voluntarily, avoiding further conflict.
  • After briefly inspecting the cave, Feng Jun leaves. Xuanyuan Buqi proposes that the group visit Mist Abyss, but Qian Zhong instead persuades Feng Jun to investigate the cause of Yue Yi’s injuries.
  • Feng Jun has already privately deduced some information but hesitates to expose Yue Yi’s secrets because of the Golden Crow Sect’s connections with Libo Shoal and Elder Qingji. Qian Zhong and Xuanyuan Buqi promise that any gains from the investigation will belong to Feng Jun and that they only want to know whether the matter threatens the Xuanyuan Family.
  • To avoid provoking the Fire Spirit Sect or placing Feng Jun in an awkward position, the group travels discreetly without the Xuanyuan family banner. Feng Jun guides them to an abandoned ancient city in the Chaos Wasteland.
  • The Chaos Wasteland is revealed as a dangerous, partially explored region containing folded space, frequent spatial rifts, and potentially passages to other dimensions. It is famous for ancient treasures, including Dao Steles, Ultimate Spirit Stones, Primordial Purple Qi, and fragments of powerful artifacts.
  • Feng Jun suspects the wasteland may contain more than ordinary folded space—possibly a connection to the Void. Qian Zhong and Xuanyuan Buqi reject the possibility of a true Void entrance but admit that another dimensional passage may exist, similar to the Sky Curtain.

Character Developments

  • Feng Jun demonstrates both his growing importance as a deduction master and his caution regarding political relationships. He helps Yue Yi without exploiting the elder’s vulnerability, yet secretly investigates the origin of his injuries.
  • Yue Yi is shown to be badly wounded, constrained by both his physical condition and his strained relationship with Feng Jun. Although proud and secretive, he cooperates pragmatically to obtain treatment.
  • Qian Zhong remains inquisitive and opportunistic. Her love of gossip leads her to offer valuable medicines in exchange for information, and she later encourages Feng Jun to investigate Yue Yi’s hidden circumstances.
  • Xuanyuan Buqi acts decisively and protects the group’s interests. He is willing to support Feng Jun’s investigation, especially if it could reveal dangers affecting the Xuanyuan Family.
  • Xuanyuan Hullie displays practical authority by handling negotiations with the Han Family and enforcing the Xuanyuan Family’s conditions.
  • Elder Qingji is not present, but her connection to both Yue Yi and Feng Jun influences Feng Jun’s decision not to reveal everything he knows.

Significant Themes

  • Political alliances versus personal relationships: The Golden Crow Sect has strong institutional ties with Feng Jun, but Yue Yi’s personal conflict with him prevents easy cooperation.
  • The value and limits of information: Yue Yi’s injuries cannot be treated without rare knowledge and resources, while Qian Zhong treats secrets as commodities.
  • Pragmatism over pride: Yue Yi must rely on another faction’s territory, accept outside assistance, and negotiate peacefully despite his status.
  • Exploration and hidden danger: The Chaos Wasteland symbolizes a forgotten region where valuable discoveries remain buried alongside severe spatial and dimensional threats.
  • Fortune and opportunity: The possibility of finding treasures comparable to those from the Sky Curtain excites Qian Zhong and hints that Feng Jun’s unusual fortune may lead to another major discovery.

Character Interactions

  • Feng Jun and Yue Yi: Their strained relationship remains apparent, but Feng Jun still provides a treatment plan. Yue Yi’s request for further help creates a cautious, transactional cooperation.
  • Qian Zhong and Yue Yi: Qian Zhong attempts to trade medicine for the story behind Yue Yi’s injuries. Yue Yi refuses, reinforcing his secrecy and her frustration.
  • Feng Jun and Qian Zhong: Qian Zhong pushes Feng Jun to investigate Yue Yi, while Feng Jun balances curiosity against concerns about privacy and political consequences.
  • Xuanyuan Buqi and Feng Jun: Buqi consistently supports Feng Jun, ordering his family to gather resources and agreeing to back the investigation.
  • Xuanyuan Family and Yue Yi: The Xuanyuan Family allows Yue Yi to use the Profound Ice Cave only after confirming the Han Family’s consent, demonstrating their dominance and insistence on proper authority.
  • The group as a whole: Their decision to travel without the Xuanyuan banner reflects a rare attempt at discretion as they pursue clues connected to the Fire Spirit Sect.

Ch. 2816Following the Trail

Chapter Summary: “Following the Trail”

Key Plot Points and Events

  • Feng Jun determines that the treasure hidden in the Chaos Wasteland is unrelated to Qian Zhong’s mysterious “big shot,” since the treasure’s history stretches back hundreds of thousands of years, while the big shot’s caches only appeared in the last few thousand.
  • He reconstructs the ambush that injured Yue Yi: a female cultivator attacked Yue Yi with the help of a masked accomplice. Feng Jun explains that the woman and Yue Yi had previously known each other well.
  • Qian Zhong examines the faint traces at the battlefield and identifies the woman as Jingmai True Immortal, a former Golden Crow Sect disciple who left the sect after ascending and later became a guest elder of the Heavenlink Trade Alliance.
  • The masked accomplice is identified as a powerful Lei cultivator with unusually strong concealment abilities. Qian Zhong confirms that the two attackers fled together.
  • Feng Jun reveals that Jingmai stole a black bead, which he believes is obsidian containing valuable information rather than being a powerful Magic Treasure. This makes it easier—and less politically dangerous—for them to pursue.
  • The group tracks Jingmai for three days, discovering nineteen temporary hiding places. She constantly relocates and conceals the heavenly secrets to avoid detection.
  • At the twenty-third hiding place, Qian Zhong gathers enough aura to pinpoint Jingmai’s destination: the Misty Abyss.
  • The group reaches the Misty Abyss, a massive, mist-filled rift whose pale-blue vapor can gradually freeze and damage cultivators’ Divine Souls. Despite its dangers, the region attracts many cultivators because of its rare treasures and powerful creatures.
  • Feng Jun’s group finds Jingmai disguised as an adventurer among several companions. When the Xuanyuan Family’s arrival is recognized and the group charges toward her, Jingmai attempts to retrieve something from her Storage Pouch. Xuanyuan Buqi reacts immediately and uses a binding technique, ending the chapter as the confrontation begins.

Character Developments

  • Feng Jun demonstrates exceptional investigative and tracking abilities, accurately distinguishing between the black bead’s physical nature and the greater value of the information it contains. He remains calm, practical, and uninterested in unnecessary conflict.
  • Qian Zhong displays impressive deduction and sensory skills, first identifying Jingmai and later locating her after following extremely faint traces. She is also surprised and impressed by Feng Jun’s ability to deduce the bead’s nature.
  • Jingmai True Immortal is portrayed as highly cautious, resourceful, and skilled at concealment. Her repeated disguises and frequent changes of hiding place reveal intense fear of retaliation from the Golden Crow faction.
  • Xuanyuan Buqi takes responsibility for coordinating the pursuit and understands the political implications of targeting someone connected to the Golden Crow Sect and Heavenlink Trade Alliance. He also restrains his family members when they make overly casual or mocking remarks.
  • Xuanyuan Hu Lie becomes aware of the vast gap between ordinary deduction and Feng Jun’s abilities, regretting that he questioned Feng Jun’s conclusions.
  • Xuanyuan Youdao challenges Feng Jun with a sharp, sarcastic remark, revealing some hostility or resentment toward him. Feng Jun responds calmly, avoiding escalation.

Significant Themes

  • Consequences and human nature: Feng Jun observes that Jingmai pursued benefits without considering the consequences, only becoming terrified once she had to face retaliation. Her behavior reflects the broader human tendency to ignore risks until consequences arrive.
  • Sect loyalty and independence: Jingmai’s departure from the Golden Crow Sect raises questions about the obligations of sect disciples, the limited resources of major organizations, and the resentment that can arise when former geniuses feel undervalued.
  • Information as power: The black bead’s importance lies not in its physical power but in the information recorded on it. This emphasizes knowledge as a valuable and shareable form of treasure.
  • Tracking, concealment, and counter-deduction: The chapter centers on the contest between Jingmai’s efforts to erase her trail and Feng Jun and Qian Zhong’s ability to reconstruct events from nearly vanished traces.
  • Political influence and reputation: The Xuanyuan Family’s prestige is evident when nearby cultivators offer assistance simply upon recognizing them, showing how reputation can provide practical power and support.

Character Interactions

  • Feng Jun explains the ambush and the stolen bead to Qian Zhong and the Xuanyuan Family, establishing himself as the main source of investigative insight.
  • Qian Zhong and Feng Jun cooperate closely, combining her aura-based deductions with his analytical understanding.
  • Xuanyuan Buqi manages his family members and keeps the investigation focused, while also joking about Yue Yi’s embarrassment over being betrayed.
  • Xuanyuan Youdao’s sarcastic exchange with Feng Jun introduces tension within the group, though Feng Jun refuses to be provoked.
  • The final encounter brings Feng Jun’s group face-to-face with Jingmai and her companions. The Xuanyuan Family’s arrival immediately alarms her, and Xuanyuan Buqi prevents her from making a sudden move by casting “Bind.”

Ch. 2817Coordinates

Chapter Summary: “Coordinates”

Key Plot Points and Events

  • Xuanyuan Buqi, despite being restricted to Spirit Severing-level combat power within the Ring-Dome Realm, demonstrates the superior precision and purity of a True Lord’s control over laws. With one finger, he immobilizes Jingmai the True Immortal and the cultivators accompanying her.
  • An unidentified, highly concealed figure suddenly flees into the Misty Abyss. Buqi notices the suspicious movement but hesitates briefly because he is concerned about implicating uninvolved cultivators and preserving the Xuanyuan Family’s reputation. The fugitive escapes.
  • Qian Zhong criticizes Buqi for failing to capture the suspect, whom she believes was likely the masked man they were pursuing. She points out that the Misty Abyss prevents flight and that blood or hair could have been used for later tracking.
  • Buqi’s group captures the six people with Jingmai—two Nascent Soul cultivators and four Gold Core cultivators—and clears a section of the Misty Abyss for interrogation.
  • Qian Zhong searches Jingmai’s Storage Pouch and discovers a black bead, later identified as the Obsidian Orb. After examination, she and Buqi determine that it contains only spatial coordinates, not a trap.
  • Since Jingmai refuses to cooperate, the Xuanyuan Family attempts to arrange a Soul Search. However, Xuanyuan Hullie cannot break through Jingmai’s powerful Divine Soul restriction without risking permanent damage or turning her into an idiot.
  • Buqi determines that Jingmai’s restriction was probably self-imposed and assisted by a talisman. Rather than force the Soul Search, he turns to Feng Jun, asking him to deduce the meaning of the coordinates.
  • Feng Jun claims to have a likely explanation, and Qian Zhong confirms that he is the key to resolving the matter.
  • Faced with Buqi’s pressure, Jingmai finally speaks. She reveals that she knows the Xuanyuan Family came because of Elder Yue Yi and challenges Buqi for interfering in a dispute between sect cultivators.
  • Qian Zhong deduces that Jingmai had planted an informant within the Han Family, allowing her to learn that Yue Yi was hiding in the Han Family’s Profound Ice Cave.
  • Buqi rejects Jingmai’s appeal to sect-based authority, insisting that Yue Yi had used Xuanyuan Family resources. The Xuanyuan Family therefore intends to obtain compensation rather than directly involve itself in the sect dispute.

Character Developments

  • Xuanyuan Buqi: Shows overwhelming strength and careful control, but his concern for the Xuanyuan Family’s reputation causes him to hesitate and lose the fleeing suspect. He remains domineering and self-righteous, framing the family’s demands as legitimate compensation rather than coercion.
  • Qian Zhong: Demonstrates sharp deduction skills and a more pragmatic, aggressive attitude. She mocks Buqi’s hesitation, favors immediate action, and quickly identifies the significance of the Obsidian Orb and Jingmai’s connection to the Han Family.
  • Feng Jun: Becomes increasingly important to the investigation. Although limited by his Gold Core cultivation, he appears capable of interpreting the coordinates and may hold the key to uncovering the larger conspiracy.
  • Jingmai the True Immortal: Revealed as intelligent, cautious, and deeply involved in the conflict. She uses a Divine Soul restriction to protect her secrets and invokes her identity as a former Golden Crow Sect cultivator to defend her actions, but eventually yields enough information to expose her connection to the Han Family.
  • Xuanyuan Hullie: Attempts to perform the Soul Search but is unable to overcome Jingmai’s restriction, highlighting the difficulty of investigating a high-level cultivator protected by specialized techniques.

Significant Themes

  • Power versus restraint: Buqi possesses enough power to control everyone present, yet his hesitation shows that political reputation and family rules limit even a True Lord.
  • Family authority versus sect loyalty: Jingmai appeals to sect law and the consequences of harming a fellow sect member, while Buqi insists that the Xuanyuan Family’s property and interests take priority.
  • Pragmatism versus propriety: Qian Zhong favors decisive action, whereas Buqi clings to the Xuanyuan Family’s image of righteousness and proper conduct.
  • Secrets and investigation: Concealed identities, informants, Soul restrictions, deduction, and spatial coordinates drive the chapter’s mystery.
  • The moral flexibility of powerful families: The Xuanyuan Family presents extortion and coercion as fair compensation, maintaining a façade of justice while using its overwhelming influence to enforce its will.

Character Interactions

  • Buqi and Qian Zhong argue over his failure to capture the fleeing suspect. Their exchange highlights the contrast between his concern for reputation and her practical, sarcastic approach.
  • Qian Zhong and Feng Jun cooperate in examining the Obsidian Orb, with Feng Jun cautiously asking her to check for hidden dangers.
  • Buqi relies on both Qian Zhong’s deductions and Feng Jun’s analytical abilities after the Soul Search fails.
  • Buqi confronts Jingmai directly, while she attempts to shift the issue toward sect law and accuse the Xuanyuan Family of improper interference.
  • Qian Zhong exposes Jingmai’s informant within the Han Family, undermining Jingmai’s position.
  • Buqi ultimately makes the Xuanyuan Family’s stance clear: regardless of sect politics, Yue Yi used their resources, and they will demand repayment.

Ch. 2818Nascent Soul Puppet

Chapter Summary:

Nascent Soul Puppet

Key Plot Points and Events

  • The Xuanyuan Family interrogates True Immortal Jingmai about Elder Yue Yi and her connection to the mysterious cultivator who entered the Misty Abyss. Jingmai remains nearly catatonic and begs only for death, while Elder Hullie threatens her with punishments worse than death.
  • Yu Qingzhu attempts to provoke Jingmai into speaking by defending Yue Yi, suggesting that their long friendship proves he did not simply seduce and abandon her. Jingmai finally reacts angrily, accusing Yue Yi of betraying her, but then withdraws into silence again.
  • Qian Zhong sends a Nascent Soul Puppet into the dangerous blue mist of the Misty Abyss to retrieve a corpse. The puppet returns badly damaged, carrying medicinal herbs and a strange stone, before collapsing into scattered parts. Qian Zhong is visibly distressed at losing its spirit and combat power.
  • Feng Jun tries to deduce the corpse’s identity but can only sense that it appears artificial. Xuanyuan Buqi searches the corpse’s Storage Pouch and discovers a plaque bearing the insignia of the Thief Lineage.
  • The group concludes that the dead cultivator was connected to the Thief Lineage and likely came from the Heavenly Zither Main Plane, rather than the Ring-Dome Realm. Qian Zhong’s deduction confirms the origin, though Feng Jun cannot determine more.
  • The chapter provides background on the Thief Lineage: once formed by bandits claiming that “even thieves have their way,” it was rejected by orthodox powers, later colluded with demonic cultivators, and was forced underground. Despite being widely hated, it survived partly because its argument—that all cultivators “steal” resources from heaven and earth—contained uncomfortable truth.
  • Xuanyuan Buqi proposes investigating the spatial point connected to the Heavenly Zither Main Plane, but Feng Jun chooses to remain in the Ring-Dome Realm for several more days. The group visits several locations while the Xuanyuan Family grows increasingly anxious about delaying.
  • The Xuanyuan disciples provide local specialties for Feng Jun’s database. Feng Jun asks Xuanyuan Buqi to gather specialties from other Domains as well, offering compensation. Xuanyuan Youdao points out that such a task could take centuries, but Buqi agrees, noting that some Domains are inaccessible because their Domain Consciousnesses oppose the Xuanyuan Family.
  • Qian Zhong volunteers to handle the Domains inconvenient for the Xuanyuan Family, surprising Xuanyuan Youdao and emphasizing her mysterious influence and ability.
  • At the end, a Nascent Soul cultivator from the Bai Family—an affiliated Secret-Realm Family—arrives with news that rumors are spreading that the Xuanyuan clan has discovered a secret treasure trove. Various forces are already investigating.

Character Developments

  • True Immortal Jingmai appears emotionally broken and possibly psychologically unstable. She is consumed by resentment toward Yue Yi but refuses to explain herself fully, even when her freedom and life are threatened.
  • Yu Qingzhu demonstrates psychological insight and manipulative gentleness, deliberately provoking Jingmai to draw out information. She concludes that Jingmai’s temperament and mental state are abnormal.
  • Qian Zhong reveals both her ruthlessness and her attachment to her Nascent Soul Puppet. Though she treats its sacrifice pragmatically, she is genuinely saddened by its destruction and immediately becomes more hostile toward the Thief Lineage.
  • Feng Jun remains calm and unhurried, prioritizing observation and the expansion of his information database over immediately pursuing the possible treasure site. His inability to deduce the corpse’s identity also highlights the limits of his investigative abilities compared with Qian Zhong’s.
  • Xuanyuan Buqi continues to act confidently and decisively, but he is unusually accommodating toward Feng Jun, allowing him to set the group’s pace and agreeing to his ambitious request for materials.
  • Xuanyuan Youdao becomes increasingly puzzled by the cooperation between Feng Jun, Qian Zhong, and the Xuanyuan Family. Her comments also reveal her practical understanding of the difficulty and expense of gathering resources across countless Domains.

Significant Themes

  • Power, coercion, and resistance: The Xuanyuan Family uses overwhelming authority to force Jingmai toward cooperation, while Jingmai’s silence becomes her last form of resistance.
  • Psychological trauma and betrayal: Jingmai’s hatred of Yue Yi suggests deep emotional injury, and the chapter questions whether her actions are the result of betrayal, instability, or both.
  • Moral hypocrisy among cultivators: The history of the Thief Lineage challenges orthodox cultivators’ moral superiority. Although the thieves are condemned, the claim that all cultivators seize resources for personal advancement exposes hypocrisy throughout the cultivation world.
  • The cost of power: The destruction of Qian Zhong’s puppet demonstrates that even expendable tools represent significant investment and emotional loss, while dangerous exploration demands continual sacrifice.
  • Information and preparation: Feng Jun’s collection of realm specialties and measured approach emphasize the value of knowledge, databases, and long-term preparation over impulsive action.
  • Political influence and hidden dangers: The rumor of a secret treasure trove suggests that the group’s movements are becoming known and that rival forces may soon intervene.

Character Interactions

  • Jingmai and the Xuanyuan Family: Hullie threatens Jingmai, while Buqi shows impatience with her silence. Their interaction establishes the family’s aggressive investigative methods.
  • Jingmai and Yu Qingzhu: Yu Qingzhu tries to coax Jingmai into speaking by defending Yue Yi, provoking an emotional outburst that reveals Jingmai’s bitterness and sense of abandonment.
  • Qian Zhong and Xuanyuan Buqi: Their banter reflects mutual familiarity and status. Buqi jokes about the puppet’s recovered treasures, while Qian Zhong’s irritation shows how seriously she takes its loss.
  • Feng Jun and the senior experts: Feng Jun’s deductions are weaker than Qian Zhong’s, yet Buqi and Qian Zhong continue to respect his judgment, allowing him to decide whether to pursue the spatial point immediately.
  • Feng Jun and the Xuanyuan Family: Their cooperation deepens as Feng Jun requests materials from many Domains. Buqi agrees readily, while Youdao questions the practicality and cost.
  • Qian Zhong and the Xuanyuan Family: Qian Zhong’s offer to handle hostile Domains reveals that she possesses extraordinary confidence and influence, leaving Youdao uncertain of her true background.
  • The Xuanyuan and Bai Families: The Bai Family’s visit confirms its subordinate relationship to the Xuanyuan Family and introduces the growing threat of outside forces searching for the rumored treasure trove.

Ch. 2819Specialty-Gathering Mission

Chapter Summary: “Specialty Collection Mission”

Key Plot Points and Events

  • The Bai Family’s True Immortal visits the Xuanyuan Family under the pretense of sharing information about a treasure in the Ring-Dome Realm. Her real goal is to persuade the Xuanyuan Family to include the Bai Family in the treasure hunt.
  • Xuanyuan Buqi recognizes her intentions but gives a guarded promise: if circumstances allow, the Xuanyuan Family will assist the Bai Family. He also implies that the treasure’s existence and its associated karma are uncertain.
  • The Bai Family True Immortal attempts to approach Feng Jun, hoping to establish a relationship with the legendary master capable of refining the Virtual Combat System. Xuanyuan Buqi deliberately prevents the introduction, hinting that the Bai Family lacks the fifteen Ultimate Spirit Stones required for such a system.
  • Feng Jun finishes recording the properties of materials collected from many Domains and returns them to Xuanyuan Youdao. To conceal the efficiency of his work, he spends nearly a day inside the Traveling Residence.
  • Xuanyuan Youdao jokes openly about Xuanyuan Buqi’s habit of spending generously despite the family’s financial difficulties. Although she technically speaks improperly of the family ancestor, Buqi does not punish her, revealing her favored status.
  • Xuanyuan Buqi privately tells Feng Jun that Youdao cares deeply about the family—and appears to have developed feelings for Feng Jun. He jokingly suggests that Feng Jun could marry into the Xuanyuan Family.
  • Feng Jun resists the matchmaking pressure and counters by threatening to reconsider whether the Xuanyuan Family should receive the specialty collection missions for various lower realms.
  • Qian Zhong suddenly joins the conversation and asks about the reward for the mission.
  • Feng Jun offers the Xuanyuan Family the right to purchase one Soul Emergence Soul-Quelling Pill for ten Ultimate Spirit Stones, emphasizing that it was refined according to Great Prosperity Era methods.
  • Xuanyuan Buqi recognizes that the price is extremely favorable, but Feng Jun attaches a condition: the Xuanyuan Family must stop trying to introduce its Earth Cultivation women to him.
  • Buqi reluctantly accepts the deal, though the marriage issue remains the central point of tension.

Character Developments

  • Feng Jun demonstrates increasing confidence in negotiating with the Xuanyuan Family. Rather than being pressured into marriage arrangements, he uses the specialty missions and the valuable pill as leverage to establish clear boundaries.
  • Xuanyuan Buqi is shown as both shrewd and shamelessly pragmatic. He values Feng Jun’s friendship and treasures, but also openly attempts to arrange a marriage between Feng Jun and Xuanyuan Youdao for the family’s benefit.
  • Xuanyuan Youdao is revealed to care strongly about the Xuanyuan Family and to possess genuine affection for Feng Jun. Her informal teasing of Buqi suggests that she is highly favored and trusted within the family.
  • Qian Zhong displays her usual perceptiveness and opportunism. She notices the serious discussion, enters despite Buqi’s protective Spirit-Qi Shield, and immediately focuses on the practical value and duration of the pill.
  • The Bai Family True Immortal acts diplomatically and cautiously, seeking both cooperation in the treasure hunt and an introduction to Feng Jun while avoiding direct conflict with the powerful Xuanyuan Family.

Significant Themes

  • Power and negotiation: Even powerful families must bargain, manage resources, and seek advantageous partnerships. Feng Jun’s rare pill gives him substantial leverage over the Xuanyuan Family.
  • Family loyalty and obligation: Xuanyuan Youdao’s concern for the family reflects the clan’s emphasis on collective strength, while the specialty missions are treated as a major responsibility requiring manpower across many Domains.
  • Marriage as political strategy: Buqi views Feng Jun’s possible marriage into the Xuanyuan Family as mutually beneficial, but Feng Jun rejects the idea of being treated as a family asset.
  • Scarcity and value: Ultimate Spirit Stones, combat systems, and high-level pills are exceptionally rare. The discussion emphasizes the enormous economic and strategic importance of Feng Jun’s resources.
  • Trust and transparency: The Xuanyuan Family’s public actions contrast with the Fire Spirit Sect’s open but indirect scheme to spread the treasure information. The chapter repeatedly explores how powerful groups conceal motives while maintaining plausible deniability.

Character Interactions

  • The Bai Family True Immortal and Xuanyuan Buqi negotiate a tentative alliance over the rumored treasure.
  • She tries to meet Feng Jun, but Buqi blocks the introduction because of his protectiveness and suspicion regarding the Bai Family’s ability to pay.
  • Xuanyuan Youdao and Feng Jun exchange polite remarks before Youdao lightly mocks Buqi’s generosity and concern for the family.
  • Buqi and Feng Jun then engage in a humorous but serious dispute over Youdao’s affection and the possibility of marriage.
  • Qian Zhong interrupts the exchange, shifting the discussion toward the specialty mission’s reward.
  • Feng Jun and Buqi conclude a tentative agreement: the Xuanyuan Family may undertake the collection missions and purchase one Great Prosperity Era Soul Emergence Soul-Quelling Pill, provided they stop trying to match Feng Jun with Xuanyuan women.

Ch. 2820A True Lord's Deal

Chapter Summary: “A True Lord’s Deal”

Key Plot Points and Events

  • Qian Zhong challenges Xuanyuan Buqi’s attempt to obtain Feng Jun’s Soul-Stabilizing Pill by offering a stronger deal: the Yao Family will collect supplies from every Domain and guarantee that Earth Cultivators will not cause trouble.
  • Xuanyuan Buqi accuses Qian Zhong of violating the arrangement he had made with Feng Jun. Qian Zhong counters that Xuanyuan Buqi was not sincere and had tried to use a Xuanyuan Earth Cultivator as leverage to control Feng Jun.
  • Realizing that his offer had been manipulative and that gathering lower-realm supplies could benefit the Xuanyuan Family’s influence, Xuanyuan Buqi accepts Feng Jun’s conditions and promises to handle supply collection himself.
  • Qian Zhong demands compensation for losing the opportunity to gather supplies and eventually negotiates priority purchase rights for future Soul Emergence Pills. Xuanyuan Buqi agrees, including to help her obtain the second pill—despite Feng Jun warning that he has never promised to possess more than one.
  • Feng Jun suddenly realizes he is overdue to retrieve Yi Jue from the Spirit Plant Dao. He worries that she may be in danger—or that she may become suspicious—but quickly travels to bring her back.
  • Xuanyuan Buqi worries that Feng Jun might leave permanently and take the treasure coordinates with him. Feng Jun reassures him and refuses to test their trust by leaving them behind.
  • Feng Jun returns with Yi Jue, whose planned retreat to attempt a breakthrough into the Soul Emergence Realm shocks the Xuanyuan Family.
  • Yi Jue reveals that she has her own theory about the treasure coordinates. She will only participate in the excavation if the situation confirms her conjectures; otherwise, she and Feng Jun will leave.
  • Feng Jun prevents Yi Jue from explaining her theory prematurely, insisting that everyone wait until they reach the site.

Character Developments

  • Xuanyuan Buqi is forced to recognize that his original offer was partly an attempt to control or bind Feng Jun. Though proud and calculating, he admits defeat, apologizes to Qian Zhong, and offers increasingly generous terms to preserve the deal.
  • Qian Zhong demonstrates the Yao Family’s confidence, flexibility, and superior concealment abilities. She is blunt and confrontational, but her intervention protects Feng Jun from being manipulated and strengthens the Yao Family’s position.
  • Feng Jun acts as the neutral authority between the two ancient families. He remains wary of their schemes, understands the strategic value of supply-gathering, and refuses to let either side make arrangements involving his pills without his consent.
  • Yi Jue is shown to be direct, confident, and highly perceptive. Her imminent attempt to break into Soul Emergence makes her status even more formidable, and her independent theory gives her a separate stake in the treasure expedition.
  • Xuanyuan Youdao privately underestimates Yi Jue after seeing her, revealing some youthful arrogance and competitiveness, although she avoids openly challenging her because of the elders’ presence.

Significant Themes

  • Power, influence, and control: The negotiation is not merely about obtaining a pill. It concerns which family will gain influence by collecting rare materials across the Domains and whether Feng Jun can be pressured into dependence.
  • Pride versus practicality: The Xuanyuan Family’s refusal to ask for help contrasts with the Yao Family’s willingness to use concealment and outside assistance. Xuanyuan Buqi’s pride repeatedly makes him less effective.
  • Trust and human nature: Feng Jun does not want to test whether the others would abandon him or exploit the treasure coordinates. His decision to return without demanding proof of loyalty reflects cautious but genuine trust.
  • Strategic bargaining: Qian Zhong and Xuanyuan Buqi quickly move from hostility to cooperation when mutual benefit appears. Their negotiations show that powerful cultivators treat resources, favors, pills, and family influence as interconnected forms of leverage.
  • Hidden motives and discretion: Yi Jue’s theory and the treasure’s true nature remain concealed. Feng Jun emphasizes that conclusions should be verified at the site rather than revealed prematurely.

Character Interactions

  • Qian Zhong and Xuanyuan Buqi argue fiercely over the pill and the supply-gathering arrangement. She calls out his manipulative intentions, while he responds with reluctant concessions and attempts to appease her.
  • Qian Zhong and Feng Jun are aligned in resisting Xuanyuan Buqi’s schemes, though Feng Jun later rebukes both Spirit Division Lords for negotiating over pills he may not possess.
  • Xuanyuan Buqi and Feng Jun maintain a relationship built on mutual usefulness and guarded trust. Xuanyuan Buqi fears losing access to Feng Jun and the treasure, while Feng Jun refuses to let that fear dictate his movements.
  • Feng Jun and Yi Jue share a close alliance. He personally retrieves her, protects her conjectures from being exposed too early, and plans to leave with her if the treasure site contradicts their expectations.
  • Yi Jue and the Xuanyuan Family meet under tense but polite circumstances. Her arrival impresses the family, especially because of her possible breakthrough, while her direct questioning immediately shifts the discussion toward the true purpose of the expedition.
