"Human, follow me." Not far from Jiang Siming, a tall woman dressed in a bright green dress appeared out of nowhere. Her entire being was suffused with an even denser aura of life, sacred and inviolable.
Jiang Siming took a deep breath, said nothing, and followed her quickly.
A moment later, a golden throne appeared before Jiang Siming's eyes. The man in the black robe sitting upon it had sword-like brows, and his eyes held a mysterious aura, as if they were black holes drawing in the gazes of others. There was no need to wonder; this had to be the Black-Eyes Golden Dragon King, the Beast God Di Tian. The tall woman stood silently beside the throne.
"You come from the God Realm?" Di Tian's tone was icy. Although he did not release any pressure, it was enough to make one shudder.
Jiang Siming did not speak, instead directly manifesting his Donghuang Bell martial soul, allowing the true pressure of an emperor to radiate outward.
A flash of surprise suddenly appeared in the Beast God Di Tian's fluctuating eyes.
"A god of the soul beast clan? It feels unfamiliar, yet it is indeed the aura of a god." Di Tian had felt the aura of the Dragon God before. The aura emitted by the Donghuang Bell was similar, yet different—or perhaps, even more powerful.
"Are you here to negotiate terms with me?" Di Tian spoke again, beginning to take Jiang Siming seriously.
"I can help you awaken the Silver Dragon King." Jiang Siming cut straight to the point. Jiang Siming was facing a gamble where he had only one choice.
"Not enough. You are still too weak. Besides, you are a human." The Beast God Di Tian shook his head.
Jiang Siming let out a long sigh of relief in his heart; he had bet correctly.
"Give me ten years." Jiang Siming did not make too many promises; saying too much would only make it seem less authentic.
The Beast God Di Tian fell silent.
This negotiation lacked heated arguments or mutual threats; it consisted only of a few cold sentences. Yet, the clothes on Jiang Siming's back were soaked through with cold sweat.
"Give me a reason." Di Tian's icy words echoed once more in the verdant world.
"True peace between soul masters and soul beasts is impossible. However, if soul beasts were to vanish, soul masters would cease to exist as well. For you, the total disappearance of the soul master profession is the result you desire. But you cannot achieve it." Jiang Siming replied calmly.
Di Tian stared coldly at Jiang Siming, releasing a faint pressure. Jiang Siming, already severely wounded, felt a sweetness in his throat, but he forcibly swallowed the blood that surged up.
"You are right. What do you intend to do?" Di Tian slowly retracted his pressure and spoke coldly once more, though a trace of helplessness was hidden within.
"I will become a god through my own power. I do not need a legacy." Jiang Siming's gaze revealed absolute confidence. Even if no one else believed it, Jiang Siming had to.
"What do you want?" Di Tian's cold tone rang out again. Di Tian did not doubt him—there was no need to. Di Tian did not care in the slightest whether Jiang Siming lived or died; this was merely an expendable investment.
Jiang Siming had never thought about what else he could gain; he only wanted to leave this place as quickly as possible. Staying even one second longer could mean an extra layer of danger. But he had to ask for something, and it had to be significant. Otherwise, the next second would be his death.
"I need you to protect the Heaven Dou Empire for ten years." Jiang Siming casually threw out a high-sounding request.
"Fine, I agree. But you must enter into a contract with me. I want a drop of your blood." As he spoke, Di Tian traced black runes in the air with his finger. The black runes slowly drifted toward Jiang Siming. Jiang Siming hesitated for a moment.
"You need not worry. We soul beasts are not like you humans who lack integrity. There are no tricks in this contract." Di Tian's disdainful voice shattered Jiang Siming's contemplation.
Jiang Siming had no choice. He bit his finger, and the blood floated out automatically, slowly flying toward the black runes and dissolving into them. Afterward, the contract dissipated.
Jiang Siming felt a shackle placed upon his heart. To unlock it, he had to fulfill his promise: to awaken the Silver Dragon King.
"You may go!" After Di Tian finished speaking, he vanished from the throne. The tall woman then walked forward.
"Little one, you may call me Bi Ji." Bi Ji extended her palm, and a stream of green energy was injected into Jiang Siming's body, rapidly healing all his injuries and, in the process, helping his soul power—which was already on the verge of breaking through—to successfully advance.
"Thank you, you can just call me Jiang Siming," Jiang Siming said politely. This must be Bi Ji, the fourth of the Ten Great Beast Kings from the second book, right? She was indeed as kind and benevolent to humans and soul beasts alike as described in the original work.
"Come with me. I will see you out. I don't know how long it has been since I've spoken to anyone. You can keep me company and talk to me along the way," Bi Ji said with a hint of sadness.
"Actually, I am surprised you survived," Bi Ji said with a smile.
Jiang Siming remained silent, not reacting.
"Aren't you going to ask why?" Bi Ji said curiously.
"Perhaps it is because I have been disappointed for too long?" Jiang Siming replied.
"Perhaps. Even though Di Tian is an invincible existence on this continent, in the end, it is nothing more than waves crashing against a rock—making only a single sound." Bi Ji spoke with a mix of sadness and helplessness.
Jiang Siming did not answer. The conflict between soul masters and soul beasts could never be reconciled. It could only ever be a fantasy. The God Realm would not exterminate soul beasts, but it would never allow their strength to surpass that of humans by too much. For soul beasts, this was inherently unfair. From beginning to end, they were destined to be nothing more than prey.
"Finally out. That scared the hell out of me." Jiang Siming let out a long breath, his mood lifting significantly.
"I didn't expect you to actually be alive." Daming's figure emerged from the water once again.
"Yeah, I didn't expect it either. I should have another chance to come back next time. Remember to brush your teeth next time." Jiang Siming teased happily. Having just escaped from the jaws of death, his mood was still quite agitated.
Daming was instantly rendered speechless, looking as if he had just been cursed at.
Chapter 26: Crisis Averted, Zhu Zhuqing's Confession
On Tang San's side.
"Xiao Wu, are you alright?" Tang San, his eyes red from crying, pulled Xiao Wu tightly into his embrace.
"Brother, I'm fine." Looking at Tang San's tear-reddened eyes and everyone who had been worried about her, Xiao Wu felt even more moved.
"What about Jiang Siming? He went to save you. Where is he?" Zhu Zhuqing's cold voice carried a hint of worry.
Tang San looked at Xiao Wu in his arms and asked the same thing, "Xiao Wu, is Brother Siming alright?"
"Brother Siming is fine. He, uh... he just has some things to take care of. I don't know how long it will take," Xiao Wu said, feeling somewhat at a loss. After all, she didn't know where Jiang Siming had actually gone. Daming and Erming hadn't told her.
"I'm going to find him." Zhu Zhuqing turned to leave.
"Zhu Zhuqing, calm down. Xiao Wu said Jiang Siming will be fine. Jiang Siming's strength is likely no less than mine. Even if he can't win, he can still run away. If he is tied up with something, it means the matter is truly important. With your current strength, going there would be useless," Zhao Wuji stopped Zhu Zhuqing just in time.
