Background / History

Beirut controlled the Yulan Continent before Hodan’s arrival. The plane had remained without an overseer after the previous one died during the Descent of the Gods, as no replacement could safely enter without Beirut’s consent. Once Beirut pledged allegiance to the Destruction Sovereign, the Chief Sovereigns approved Hodan’s appointment as Plane Overseer. 8

Upon detecting Hodan’s arrival through the Plane Teleportation Array, Beirut summoned him to the Dark Forest. There, he warned Hodan not to interfere with the continent’s order, attack its inhabitants without provocation, or disregard mortal-world rules. He reinforced the warning with overwhelming pressure intended to force Hodan to kneel. 8 9

Beirut kept Hodan under intermittent divine-sense surveillance, aware that the Eight Great Clans had sent him to monitor the descendants of the Four Divine Beasts Clan. His treatment of Hodan ultimately fostered Hodan’s lasting hostility and determination to kill Beirut’s Darkness God Clone. 8 9 10

When the Gebados Plane Prison was accidentally opened, Beirut appeared over the Bosha Dike and sealed the breach with a single giant palm, stopping the escape of god-level prisoners. He later killed Adkins after Adkins attempted to enter the Necropolis of the Gods ahead of schedule. 64 69

Beirut intervened when the Eight Great Clans attacked the Tianji Mountain Range, joining Dannington and Qinghuo to defend the Four Divine Beasts Clan. During their battle, Hodan resisted Beirut’s God-Eater ability, forced him into the Spatial Turbulence, and arranged for the Radiant Overlord to kill his Darkness God Clone. Beirut’s Sovereign identity was subsequently exposed; unable to leave the Yulan Continent safely, he was compelled to swear a Supreme Oath not to act against the Eight Great Clans, except for Hodan. 103 104 105

Afterward, Beirut refused the Four Divine Beasts Clan’s pleas for further intervention. He considered his debt repaid through more than ten thousand years of protection and the loss of his Darkness God Clone. 106

Appearance

When he met Hodan in the Dark Forest, Beirut appeared as an elderly man with a severe, unwelcoming presence. 8

Despite his pride, Beirut is pragmatic when his descendants and long-term position are threatened. Faced with Bebe’s captivity, the destruction of his Darkness God Clone, and the possibility that his God-Eater Rat line could end, he chose to swear a Supreme Oath rather than pursue immediate revenge. 105

He also acts according to his own accounting of debts. Although he protected the Four Divine Beasts Clan for over ten thousand years, he eventually refused to sacrifice more for them, believing he had already fulfilled his obligation. 106
