"Old Instructor!"
Xue Yan was startled, abruptly snapping out of his cultivation. He looked ahead, but there was no one there.
"Could it be that I'm hearing things?"
At that moment, a large hand rested on his shoulder.
"Old Instructor! It really is you!"
Hesai chuckled, "Little Swallow, you don't seem to have made much progress!"
"It is too difficult to step into the Saint Realm."
"Take it slow. Haste makes waste. You can still live for at least another three hundred years; it's not like you have no chance before your time is up."
"Where is the little guy? I don't seem to sense his presence in this residence."
"Jonathan usually lives at the Ulada Magic Academy. For some reason, he bought a house in Black Phoenix City and has been hiding inside, rarely going out."
Hesai walked with his hands behind his back, saying, "Then you can accompany me to go see him."
"Yes, Old Instructor!"
"However, Old Instructor, could you please stop calling me Little Swallow? If the brat Jonathan hears it, he will definitely mock me the moment we meet. I did, after all, teach him for several years."
"Oh? He dares to do that? You can't even keep him in line?"
Xue Yan helplessly recounted the scene of his first meeting with Jonathan to Hesai, who burst into laughter after hearing it.
"Truly interesting."
"In seven years, you trained him into a Level 7 Warrior. Not bad."
"That is because he has great natural talent. I was only responsible for teaching him assassination techniques. However, the kid has excellent comprehension; within a few years, he had learned everything I had to offer."
"When we spar at the same level, I find myself unable to do anything to him in a short time. If he uses magic, I end up at a disadvantage."
"I heard he is a Level 6 Mage now?"
"He broke through around June or July last year. A sixteen-year-old Level 6 Mage—he might even be at the mid or late stage of Level 6 by now."
"Does he have a chance to reach Level 7 Mage at seventeen? If that is truly the case, his magical talent would rank in the top three in history. Combined with his dual cultivation of magic and martial arts, it wouldn't be an exaggeration to call him number one."
Xue Yan nodded in agreement, "The Old Instructor is right."
"Speaking of which, Jonathan has a deep connection with our Saber. His clansmen were slaughtered by us."
Hesai's expression shifted slightly, feeling quite surprised, "How did that happen?"
Xue Yan told him the whole story from beginning to end.
Hesai said, "To be so young yet so clear-headed, combined with this kind of potential, his chances of entering the Saint Realm in the future are not small. He might even reach my level."
"Do you believe what he says?"
Xue Yan said, "Jonathan is becoming more and more difficult to understand. I used to think everything was under my control, but now, I am not so sure."
"However, as of now, he still seems trustworthy."
"Saber killed him, Saber saved him, and Saber is the one who trained him."
Hesai sighed slightly, "Indeed, the karmic ties are deep. Let me see him first. During that time, you bring up the grievances between Saber and him. If he shows even the slightest killing intent, he won't be able to escape my perception."
"Understood, Old Instructor."
Upon arriving at the Rhode Mansion, Hesai looked at the plaque, and Xue Yan said, "Abraham, who adopted him, carries the surname Rhode."
Hesai nodded, and Xue Yan stepped forward to knock on the door. It was Hilton who opened it.
"Who are you looking for?"
"We are looking for Jonathan. We are his acquaintances, and we had an appointment."
"I see. Please come in, both of you."
After Hilton led them to the living room, he added, "Please wait a moment, I will go call the young master."
Hearing Hilton's description, Jonathan knew exactly who had arrived, so he immediately hurried to the living room.
"Greetings, Lord Hesai, Lord Xue Yan."
After bowing, he grinned, "Lord Hesai, I have been looking forward to your arrival for years."
"I haven't slacked off for a single day all these years."
"Alright, you have such a sweet tongue. Come closer and let me take a look."
Hesai suddenly said.
Jonathan knew he couldn't hide it from him, so he obediently walked over.
Hesai grabbed Jonathan's wrist, closed his eyes slightly, and opened them a moment later. He let go and looked at him in disbelief.
Seeing the bright smile on his face, Hesai burst into laughter, "Incredible, truly incredible!"
"You hid it quite well."
"Lord Hesai is too kind."
Xue Yan looked on, feeling somewhat bewildered. "Alright, Xue Yan, you head back first. I'll stay at this kid's residence for a few days to give him some pointers."
Hm?
Wasn't it agreed that he would test his killing intent?
However, since Hesai had already spoken, Xue Yan had no choice but to comply.
Once the living room was empty, Hesai finally spoke: "You broke through to a Level 7 mage at sixteen, didn't you?"
"I see your spiritual energy intensity has almost reached the late stage. At this rate, you'll likely possess the spiritual energy required for a Level 8 mage by the end of this year."
"I am very curious, how did you manage that?"
"Even if you had become a Level 7 mage at the beginning of last year, it would be impossible to accumulate spiritual energy to this degree so quickly."
"I'm not entirely sure myself, but I've discovered that when a mage practices, if they focus on a single task, they can enter a marvelous state. In this state, spiritual energy grows at double the speed."
"For example, I've been practicing carving magic arrays recently. Each array is very complex and consumes a great deal of spiritual energy. If I slack off even for a moment, I fail, so I am fully focused at all times."
Hesai pondered for a moment and said, "What you say makes some sense, but it's easy to say and difficult to do."
"It still comes down to your talent."
"Perhaps. What I mentioned is just one method; things like stone carving or delving into magic should all work."
"A sixteen-year-old Level 7 mage and a sixteen-year-old Level 7 warrior—such talent is truly unprecedented in the history of the Yulan Continent."
Jonathan did not answer, but he thought to himself, That might not be true in the history of the Yulan Plane.
"A promise given by me, Hesai, will be kept no matter what. I will stay here for three months, and after three months, I will leave. As for how much you can learn, that depends on your own ability."
"Thank you, Lord Hesai!"
Hesai added, "I heard you have a rift with Saber?"
"There is a rift, but there is also a debt of gratitude, so we leave each other in peace."
"But if one day, he harms me or those around me, no matter who it is—even if I can't do it now—one day I will pay him back in kind, an eye for an eye!"
"A hundred times over!"
Hesai stared straight into Jonathan's eyes, and Jonathan did not retreat in the slightest.
After a while, Hesai said, "I understand. I will have Saber be careful, and I might even help you in a moment of crisis, but only within my power."
"Thank you, Lord Hesai, that is already enough."
"Even if you didn't help, I am confident I could overcome the crisis on my own."
"The world is vast; everywhere is my home!"
"Well said!" A look of appreciation appeared in Hesai's eyes.
"Work hard. I look forward to the day when you are truly my equal!"
