On the official road outside the Imperial Capital, Jonathan rode the Thunder-Winged White Tiger and walked toward War God Mountain.
The War God Sect stood at the summit of War God Mountain.
Except during recruitment, the foot of War God Mountain was quite peaceful. Few dared disturb the place, and even those who came out of admiration only looked from afar.
A flight of bluestone steps wound up the mountainside, leading straight to the summit.
War God Mountain encompassed several surrounding peaks. The largest had been leveled by the War God and turned into living quarters for the outer disciples.
In almost no time, Jonathan arrived at the War God Sect's plaza.
The plaza was enormous, with groups of people sparring here and there.
Jonathan glanced around. Nearly all of them were Eighth-level Warriors or higher.
"Who are you? What are you doing at the War God Sect?"
A young man with the strength of a Ninth-level Warrior stepped forward and blocked Jonathan's path. He looked to be in his thirties and had a short beard.
At the sound of his voice, the people nearby all turned to look.
"Jonathan Rhode. I've come to challenge you!"
A commotion broke out at the word "challenge," followed by a wave of murmurs.
The War God Sect held a lofty position. Few people were foolish enough to climb War God Mountain and challenge them outright. It was practically asking for death.
"Jonathan? Never heard of you. I suggest you leave right away, or you'll regret it!"
A golden glint flashed in the Thunder-Winged White Tiger's eyes, and it bared its fangs. It threw back its head and roared, its terrifying howl echoing across all of War God Mountain. Practitioners elsewhere on the mountain paled and hurried toward the plaza.
