Background and History
An ancient magic array originating from Hell appeared on the Zhongyuan Continent. Though it condensed darkness elements, its core was believed to be a Destruction Law treasure; Jinhuo suspected the array had originally been created to seal a Plane Prison breach. Its unexplained emergence raised the possibility that imprisoned Midgods could escape into the material plane. 20
Hell is home to numerous Sovereigns, who are politically divided despite being nominally under the banner of Utrecht, the Sovereign of Destruction. When the Azure Dragon sought permission to sweep Hell with divine sense for a missing descendant, Utrecht authorized the search and prevented the resulting dispute among the Sovereigns from escalating. 24
Sean and his companions later entered Hell to seek Destruction Law opportunities, resources, and stronger opponents. Their arrival brought them through the Starry Fog Sea and eventually into Purgatory and the Plane Battlefield. 115 116 119
During the Plane Battlefield campaigns, Hell achieved its ninth consecutive victory after Sean destroyed opposing Commanders and soldiers using Bauhinia Space. 127 Hell subsequently secured a tenth consecutive victory, earning Willpower for its seven Destruction Sovereigns and exposing the existence of a previously unknown new Destruction Sovereign. 139
Geography and Locations
- Starry Fog Sea — A region whose only teleportation array is located on Ziluo Island. 116
- Ziluo Island — The Starry Fog Sea's sole teleportation-array site. 116
- Miluo Island — An island noted for its concentration of experts, commercial wealth, the Hundred-Battle Victory event, and the Floating Image secret chamber. 116
- Sea of Chaos — Contains Purgatory, which can be reached by teleportation array. 119
- Purgatory — A domain governed by powerful Commanders; Sean obtained its command by defeating the incumbent, Tuwensi. A Commander's identity grants greater freedom of movement there. 119

- Plane Battlefield military camp — A gathering point for Hell's Commanders, Sovereign's Emissaries, and soldiers before decisive battles. 125
Society and Power Structure
Fiend Ranking System
Hell uses the Fiend system to classify divine experts. Rank is formally gained through tasks, but an expert's fusion of Profound Mysteries is the main measure of their underlying strength. 69
| Fiend Rank | Typical Fused Mysteries | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Seven-Star Fiend | 5 | A rare peak among ordinary Highgods. 69 |
| Six-Star Fiend | 4 | Powerful enough to become famous within a prefecture. 68 69 |
| Five-Star Fiend | 3 | Typically a regional overlord in Hell. 54 69 |
| Four-Star Fiend | 2 | Often comparable to an independently ascended ordinary Highgod. 69 |
| Below Three-Star | — | Lowgods are generally not graded, as their strength is comparatively similar. 69 |
Sovereigns
- Utrecht, Sovereign of Destruction — The strongest being in Hell; a Grand Perfection High Sovereign and super divine beast whose body rivals a Sovereign Artifact. His Destruction Law, innate divine ability, and material-attack Supreme Artifact make his material attacks unparalleled. 24
- Destruction Sovereigns — Seven Destruction Sovereigns were recognized in Hell after its tenth Plane Battlefield victory. 139
- Sovereign factions — Hell's resident Sovereigns maintain alliances, rivalries, and separate factions, though open conflict is restrained by mutual agreement. 24
- Sovereign's Emissaries — High-level figures may seek to recruit powerful Commanders and Grand Perfections as Emissaries, offering status and resources in exchange for service. 125
Plane Battlefield
The Plane Battlefield is a major arena of conflict in which Hell fields armies, Commanders, and elite experts against other planes. Its decisive battles matter greatly to the Sovereigns because victory streaks can result in rewards of Willpower. 125 139
- Hell's army sought Sean's participation in a decisive battle, but he initially declined to join its ranks directly. 125
- Sean later killed the Grand Perfection fire expert Magnus and used Bauhinia Space to capture and kill thousands of enemy Commanders and soldiers, helping Hell attain its ninth consecutive victory. 127
- In the next decisive conflict, Hell captured both passages and achieved its tenth consecutive victory. 138 139
- The Supreme God of Destruction awarded Willpower to all seven Destruction Sovereigns of Hell following the ten-win streak. 139
