Now and then, cultivators could be seen riding clouds and mist, passing through the blood-red world within the Immortal Domain and soaring into the skies. Beyond the clouds and mist, it was as though they had brushed against a thin membrane, and their vision abruptly opened up. Qionglou towers floated in the heavens, wreathed in clouds and stretching as far as the eye could see.
The cultivators rode clouds and mist until they came upon the Heavenly Gate. Before they could even approach it, they were inspected. Once inside, they saw palace walls, courtyards, artificial mountains, and jade pools. Yet it was nothing like an ordinary mortal city. Treasures scarce even in the mortal realm could be found everywhere, while azure phoenixes—divine beasts in the eyes of mortals—flashed past without warning—
The Immortal Court.
Along the corridor leading to the resplendent halls of gold and jade, several immortal soldiers clad in silver armor passed by. Suddenly seeing five figures approaching ahead, they hurriedly stepped aside, bowed, and greeted them as "Immortal Lords." The immortal soldiers did not dare raise their heads. They were all cultivators from the Southern Lands. Some had spent their entire lives hoping to become immortals, chasing after the elusive Heavenly Palace. Yet only upon reaching the Heavenly Palace did they learn that the cultivation which, in the mortal realm, would have made them honored guests anywhere was enough only to make them attendants at the side of certain Immortal Lords.
The faces of the five Immortal Lords who passed them were shrouded in a gloom that not even the immortal aura of the Immortal Court could dispel.
