Their escape was, to put it mildly, a complete mess.
One of them wasn't even skilled enough at the Body Flicker Technique and accidentally teleported into the air.
He crashed straight to the ground and was swallowed by the sea of flames.
The good news was that the Toad Oil muffled the Kage's heartrending screams and howls.
The bad news was that he was cooked after only a few more cries.
Jiraiya hadn't lifted a finger during all this, but now the enemy was about to escape the flames' reach.

As Jiraiya planted both hands on the ground, the earth suddenly turned into a swamp without warning!
