A First Look at the World
After Otherworld Konan left, Yahiko began to complain. "I really regret not bringing a dryer. It's so damp here."
Konan smiled faintly. "I bet even a dryer would get waterlogged and stop working in a place this damp."
"What a terrible joke."
Konan pursed her lips. "By the way, Master told you first thing that your otherworld self was dead. Don't you want to know why?"
"Of course I do, but Master won't tell me. I was thinking I might be able to get some answers from them, but it doesn't feel right to reopen their wounds like this..."
Konan thought it over and decided Yahiko had a point.
They should ask tactfully rather than bringing it up right away. That would be terribly rude.
"Then let's wait for the right opportunity. But they seem to be the leaders of this village. Master told us to bring them back with us, but what will happen to the village if they leave?"
This Otherworld was nothing like their own. War was everywhere, and countries would wage it as long as they thought they had even the slightest chance of winning.
They didn't care how much harm the war might cause.
War, invasion, then using the resources they looted or received as reparations to develop their village—it seemed to have become the norm in this world.
Amegakure was only a small country. It might not be able to withstand the interest of other nations.
