Outside the underground ruins, on Williams Street, Cyril's figure abruptly flashed into view.
He looked around, then took another step. His figure grew faint, tinged with speckled starlight. Just as the Flash was about to finish, he suddenly stopped. A faint, ethereal prayer echoed in his ears:
"Eyes that gaze down upon the mortal world, source of all fantasies, Creator of the Painting World..."
"Great Lord, your devout believer begs you for guidance..."
He turned his head slightly, and brilliant stars appeared in his eyes.
After a brief moment of distraction, he found the source of the prayer. It was in Cherwood Borough, not far away!
The next second, his figure was tinged with speckled starlight, then quickly faded and disappeared from where he stood.
At the same time, inside an unmarked black-market hotel on Pulia Street, beside Williams Street.
Cyril's figure flashed into view. Directly in front of him, a dark-haired woman with brown eyes and striking makeup knelt before a blank Painting Scroll, her head bowed in prayer.
"Great Lord, you are the truth of the world, the source of all fantasies, the world's true savior..."
"Great Lord, please hear my prayer. Please grant me guidance..."
Cyril's gaze saw through her disguise with ease. He recognized her: Zoila Hernandez, a fanatic who had been corrupted by the High-Dimensional Overseer and had tried to assassinate him more than once.
...Had I received a prayer meant for the High-Dimensional Overseer directly because of our proximity—or just a coincidence of luck?
As the thought crossed his mind, he raised an eyebrow at the figure kneeling in prayer before him. He was certain Zoila Hernandez had noticed the intruder, but dealing with him apparently wasn't as important to her as praying to her lord.
...Fanatics really weren't right in the head.
