Ch. 382Each Their Own Speculations

Alger reported that Bayam had seen a battle involving Demigods, Angels, and the Primordial Demoness, while Cyril revealed that Hermes, the Death Archon, and an Ancient Dragon had also been involved. The Tarot Club members speculated about the forces behind the battle, and Audrey ended by asking for advice on exploring the Great Dragon she had encountered in the Collective Unconscious Sea.

  • Alger told the Tarot Club that Kalvetua had fallen, the Sea God’s believers still received answers, and Bayam had recently endured a major battle.
  • Alger named the Primordial Demoness, Demonesses, a Rose School Demigod, and Sea King Yann Kottman as participants; Cyril added Hermes, the Death Archon, and an Ancient Dragon.
  • The members privately speculated about Mr. Fool, Mr. Fate, the battle’s hidden alliances, and the significance of the powerful beings involved.
  • Alger said Bayam had suffered little damage but that its authorities were tense and adventurers and pirates should stay away.
  • Audrey described entering the Collective Unconscious Sea and seeing a Great Dragon, then asked the others how to continue exploring and what precautions to take.

Ch. 383Anchor

At the Tarot Club, Cyril explained how anchors helped high-Sequence Beyonders maintain their humanity, prompting the members to reconsider Mr. Fool’s efforts to gain the Sea God’s believers. He agreed to pursue the Ancient Dragon Audrey had encountered in the Collective Unconscious Sea, but they lacked a safe way to reach it.

  • Alger and Cattleya warned Audrey that exploring the Collective Unconscious Sea was dangerous, and Cyril offered to accompany her to find the dragon.
  • Cyril identified the dragon as one of the three remaining Ancient Dragons and offered to explain anchors in exchange for money or equivalent knowledge.
  • Cyril explained that anchors balanced the corruption of Beyonder Characteristics, and that gods’ believers could serve as anchors targeted in divine wars.
  • Alger, Audrey, and Cattleya speculated that Mr. Fool was gathering the Sea God’s believers as anchors, while Cattleya wondered what Cyril knew about the Ancient Dragons.
  • Audrey told Cyril she knew where she had encountered the Ancient Dragon but could not provide precise coordinates or bring others into the Collective Unconscious Sea.

Ch. 384A Meeting in a Dream

Cyril arranged to enter the Collective Unconscious Sea through Audrey’s dream, while Derrick consulted Colin about a ritual that might reach the Forsaken Land of the Gods. That night, Audrey summoned the Fool as a precaution and successfully welcomed Cyril into her dream, where the two exchanged greetings.

  • At the Tarot Club, Cyril offered to descend into Audrey’s dream and use it to reach the Collective Unconscious Sea, and the Fool offered his protection.
  • After the meeting, Cyril sent ritual instructions to Derrick, who showed the symbols to Colin; Colin found no danger in one symbol and asked Derrick to describe the other ritual.
  • Cattleya noticed that someone was deliberately collecting the Emperor’s diaries and sent a brief warning by messenger.
  • Audrey prepared her dream, summoned the Fool as a precaution, and performed the ritual to call Cyril.
  • Cyril opened a starlit door into Audrey’s dream, entered, and greeted her with a compliment.

Ch. 385Ariehogg

Cyril and Audrey entered the Collective Unconscious Sea to find the Ancient Dragon Ariehogg, and Cyril summoned him with a Mind Storm. Ariehogg tried to leave rather than join a conflict involving Adam, but Cyril stopped him by mentioning Liveseyd.

  • Audrey explained the Collective Unconscious Sea as Cyril and she descended into its depths.
  • Cyril told Audrey that the Silver Key was Mr. Fool’s friend and mentioned the Time Gathering.
  • Cyril created a Mind Storm that restored the surroundings and revealed Ariehogg waiting in a stone-pillared corridor.
  • Ariehogg asked whether Edefana had sent Cyril and spoke of Adam’s approach to godhood and the danger of the resulting conflict.
  • Ariehogg began to fly away, but Cyril shouted that he had recently gone to Liveseyd, making the Great Dragon crash back down.

Ch. 386Another Name

Cyril met Ariehogg in Liveseyd, where the Ancient Dragon asked him to retrieve Groselle's Travels and gave him a scale for future contact. After returning to the Golden Dream, Cyril confirmed to Klein that Ariehogg had become Ankewelt, while Klein suspected the dragon was tied to the ancient god's resurrection.

  • Ariehogg recognized Liveseyd and asked Cyril to bring him Groselle's Travels, but Cyril explained that the book was with the Church of Knowledge.
  • Ariehogg gave Cyril a scale and promised to help him twice; Cyril entrusted the scale to Audrey, who later found it in her hand after waking from her dream.
  • Cyril told Audrey that Ariehogg now had another name: Ankewelt, shocking her and prompting Klein to wonder whether Ariehogg had been an avatar prepared for Ankewelt's resurrection.
  • Cyril returned to the Golden Dream and found Danitz and the pirates hunting fishmen; he teased them about morning lessons before leaving with Klein.
  • Klein asked Cyril whether the third remaining Ancient Dragon was the Golden Dream's captain, and Cyril confirmed it was.

Ch. 387The Adventure in the Book World

Cyril, Klein, Edwina, and Danitz entered the Book World to investigate its unfolding story and chose to press on toward the main characters. While traveling through the Spirit World, they spotted a huge translucent dragon flying through the storm.

  • Cyril explained why Ankewelt's return might have helped restrain another being's ascension, then avoided answering Klein's question about his former former boss.
  • Edwina joined Cyril and Klein aboard the Golden Dream and invited them to explore the Book World in Groselle's Travels.
  • Edwina chose Danitz to accompany her, while Bru and Joderson stayed to oversee the ship.
  • Cyril opened a portal into the Book World, where Edwina explained that the group could meet the story's trapped owners or explore elsewhere; the party used the Luck Balance to decide to press on.
  • While traveling through the Spirit World, Cyril revealed a massive translucent dragon flying through the blizzard, and Danitz reacted with instinctive fear.

Ch. 388King of the North

Cyril, Klein, Edwina, and Danitz encountered Groselle’s group in the Book World just as Ulyssan, the King of the North, attacked. Their abilities helped restrain the dragon and free Groselle’s companions, and the chapter ended with Groselle charging Ulyssan in dawnlight armor.

  • Edwina explained that Second Epoch creatures gathered similar characteristics to grow powerful, and Cyril followed his intuition to Groselle’s camp.
  • Cyril distracted the Elf guarding the cave by discussing an illustrated book, while Klein warned him that she was getting angry and she attacked with wind blades.
  • Groselle and his companions emerged from the cave as Ulyssan appeared in a blizzard and attacked them with freezing flames.
  • Cyril used Dragon’s Might and Klein used Frenzy to weaken Ulyssan, while Groselle’s group broke free of the ice sealing them in.
  • Cyril told Danitz to stay close and help disperse the wind and snow, as Groselle charged Ulyssan in dawnlight armor.

Ch. 389The Intense Battle

Cyril, Klein, and their companions fought the Frost Dragon Ulyssan, using restraints and coordinated attacks to injure it while rescuing one another from its counterattacks. After Groselle was freed from the dragon’s icy flames, Klein withdrew into the cave to go Above the Gray Fog and seek a way to end the battle.

  • Groselle wounded Ulyssan’s neck, and the team used stolen thoughts, restraints, Holy Light, and repeated strikes to hamper the dragon’s flight.
  • Cyril shattered Ulyssan’s wing, and Shatas pierced it with a lightning-charged arrow, sending the dragon crashing toward the group.
  • Cyril rescued Shatas from Ulyssan’s icy-blue flame, but Groselle was trapped in freezing crystals while protecting her.
  • Longzel imprisoned Ulyssan, and Shatas struck its forehead with another lightning-charged arrow as Edwina renewed its fear with Dragon’s Might.
  • Klein freed Groselle from the ice, then entered the cave and recited his Honorific Name so he could go Above the Gray Fog.

Ch. 390The Story Ends

Klein and Cyril helped Groselle and the others defeat Ulyssan, the Frost Dragon, whose corpse became a pair of snow-covered doors. Cyril warned the group not to leave the Book World because their frozen time would catch up with them in moments.

  • Klein used the Sea God Scepter from above the gray fog to control the battlefield and lift Ulyssan into a tornado while Shatas and Cyril attacked it with lightning and wind.
  • Longzel, Edwina, Cyril, and Groselle combined their powers to expose Ulyssan’s heart and batter the dragon as it fell toward the ground.
  • Mobet stole the Beyonder power Ulyssan was about to use, and a lightning arrow struck its exposed heart before Longzel destroyed it with his Death command.
  • Ulyssan died, and its corpse transformed into a pair of snow-covered double doors; Groselle and the others gathered around them.
  • Cyril warned Mobet, Longzel, and the others that leaving the Book World would make the years frozen upon them pass in an extremely short time.

Ch. 391Conversation

Cyril and Klein met Mobet and the other long-trapped inhabitants of Groselle's Travels, then discussed their predicament and possible ways to escape. Cyril stepped through a door into the outside world to test it, leaving the others waiting for him to return.

  • Mobet introduced himself and his companions, including Shatas, Snowman, Longzel, and Groselle, to Edwina's group.
  • Edwina explained that her party had entered the Book World knowingly, and Mobet wondered whether a descendant of the Zoroast Family could help them escape.
  • Longzel asked about the Edward Family at 18 Drahair Street, and Cyril accepted Longzel's sword as a medium for a future divination.
  • Mobet proposed moving the trapped inhabitants to a town inside the Book World, while Shatas suggested testing whether they could leave through the door.
  • Cyril created an illusory door and stepped through it with Longzel's sword as the others watched.
  • Mobet concluded that the Book World was isolated from reality because powerful figures such as his great-grandfather had never found it.

Ch. 392Making Charms

Cyril returned from the Book World with Edwina, Klein, and the others, then began making charms using gemstones and Spirit World-tainted stones. Klein followed Edwina’s lead to search for the Vice Admiral of Ailment and her Death God documents, while Cyril hinted that Klein’s wireless telegraph machine might be useful; the chapter ended with a mysterious tapping sound waking Klein in Bayam.

  • Cyril emerged from the Book World with a rusted sword for Longzel, and Mobet and Groselle celebrated their victory over Ulyssan by planning to visit a tavern.
  • Cyril, Edwina, Klein, and the others returned to the Golden Dream, where Danitz fell asleep drunk and Cyril arranged to draw an adventure picture book about the Book World.
  • Edwina told Klein that Tracy’s subordinates were searching for red-haired Helene in the Rorsted Archipelago, giving him a possible lead to the Vice Admiral of Ailment.
  • Cyril transported Klein to Bayam, where Klein explained that he wanted Tracy’s documents about the God of Death to send to Mr. Azik.
  • Cyril explained that gemstones were the best materials for Apprentice Pathway charms, then made Flash charms from Spirit World-tainted stones and planned to gather more materials.
  • Cyril reminded Klein to check the wireless telegraph machine, and later a rhythmic tapping like a telegraph machine woke Klein at the Azure Wind inn.

Ch. 393Late-Night Telegram

Klein used Arrodes to learn Helene’s location and the identity of the Parasite in Leonard, then arranged to question Helene about a wealthy collector linked to Tracy. The chapter ended with Cyril unexpectedly joining Klein in the carriage and taking over its horses.

  • Arrodes told Klein that red-haired Helene was hiding in the Bayam consulate and identified Leonard Mitchell’s Parasite as the injured Pallez Zoroast.
  • Arrodes’s connection through the telegraph machine ended as the Gray Fog’s aura dissipated.
  • Edwina assigned Danitz to coordinate material assistance for resistance forces in the Rorsted Archipelago and promised to tutor him.
  • Helene disguised herself as a man and left the Intis consulate, while Cyril watched her departure unseen.
  • Klein met Helene in a carriage and asked whether she knew Jimmy Necker or a collector associated with Vice Admiral of Ailment Tracy.
  • Cyril appeared beside Klein, and an illusory book helped him control the carriage after he failed to drive it.

Ch. 394For a Friend, I'd Take a Knife in Both Sides!

Klein disguised himself as Helene and boarded the Black Death to pursue the Death God Documents, while Cyril secretly followed him aboard. Klein’s disguise helped him digest his Faceless potion, and Cyril began using his powers to gain access to Tracy’s collection room.

  • Klein bought one Teleport charm and five Flash charms from Cyril, then teleported to meet the resistance fighters at Dock 6 while disguised as Helene.
  • Klein persuaded Karat and the resistance fighters to take him to the Black Death, and Cyril secretly followed the fishing boat that carried him there.
  • Mithor King brought the bound Klein aboard the Black Death, where a maid ordered him to change into a dress before meeting the captain.
  • Klein realized that acting as Helene was helping him digest his Faceless potion, then entered the captain’s cabin after the maid announced him.
  • Cyril appeared before the maid after she left the cabin and used his influence over her to have her take him to Tracy’s collection room.

Ch. 395Attack

Klein attacked Admiral Disease Tracy while Cyril broke into her collection room to steal documents and valuables. Tracy survived the assault and discovered that the intruders had taken a mysterious map and the God of Death documents, leaving her fearing she had lost Elaine for good.

  • Cyril followed the blonde maid to Tracy's collection room, put the guards to sleep, and entered to search it.
  • Klein attacked Tracy in Elaine's disguise, stealing her bracelet and striking her with Wraith Scream, frost, and fire.
  • Tracy countered with ice and concealment, then unleashed a dangerous icy attack that forced Klein to escape with a teleportation charm.
  • Cyril used his powers to take the God of Death documents and several valuable collectibles before leaving the collection room.
  • The White Saint, Katarina Pelle, arrived with Tracy and helped her identify the missing documents, treasure map, Meteorite Crystal, and potion ingredients.
  • Katarina warned that the stolen documents were likely the intruders' true target, while Tracy feared she would never reclaim Elaine.

Ch. 396Chance Encounter

Katarina used the Primordial’s idol to search the Black Death’s mirrors, but a power of Concealment erased Elaine and her companion from view. After tormenting Cyril with the Sea God Scepter, Klein watched Cyril answer Derrick’s prayer and open a one-way portal through the seal into the Forsaken Land of the Gods, leaving him to decide whether to enter.

  • Katarina searched the Black Death’s mirrors for the thief and saw Elaine with an indistinct shadow before Concealment erased them.
  • Klein encountered Miss Messenger in the Spirit World while disguised as Elaine, then returned to Bayam, destroyed the disguise, and sent a Paper Angel after Cyril.
  • Klein attacked Cyril with the Sea God Scepter’s lightning, wind, and sea powers until Cyril escaped through the Spirit World and offered the Death God Documents as compensation.
  • Cyril answered Derrick’s prayer, used the Brilliant Spark to open a portal through the seal around the Forsaken Land of the Gods, and realized entering would leave him with no clear way back.

Ch. 397City of Silver

Cyril used a ritual to project himself into the City of Silver, where he showed Derrick the sea and sunlight before the ritual ended. Emlyn brought a baron’s inheritance to Marquis Nibis, who confirmed it was genuine but explained that Emlyn still needed to prepare materials and invent or substantially improve a potion to advance.

  • Cyril sent a portrait through the ritual Door and projected himself into the City of Silver, explaining that he could not return through the one-way passage.
  • Colin Iliad allowed Derrick to show Cyril the area around the Round Tower, and Cyril used an illusion to show Derrick the sea, sunlight, and the Golden Dream.
  • The ritual ended as Colin arrived, and Derrick told him that Mr. Fate had shown him the sea and sunlight.
  • Emlyn went to Odra Manor with a baron’s inheritance and asked Marquis Nibis to help him advance.
  • Nibis confirmed that the inheritance belonged to a baron and was uncontaminated, but said Emlyn needed June Snow essential oil and a potion he had invented or substantially improved.

Ch. 398The Fat Apothecary

Emlyn prepared and drank the potion to advance to Baron, while Klein sent copied Death God Documents to Azik and sought treatment for an illness left by his fight with Tracy. At an herbal shop, Klein met the fat Apothecary Darkwill, bought medicine, and learned Darkwill wanted help finding his teacher, Roy King.

  • Emlyn combined the supplementary ingredients with his potion, received Nibis's approval, and drank it.
  • Klein recopied the Death God Documents above the Gray Fog and sent them to Azik with a note through his skeletal messenger.
  • Klein's illness worsened, so he disguised himself and followed divination to an herbal shop near the Red Theater.
  • Klein recognized the shopkeeper as the fat Apothecary from Backlund and bought medicine for four soli.
  • Darkwill offered Klein 100 pounds to find his teacher, Roy King, and showed him a photograph of the man.
  • After Klein left, Darkwill's owl pointed out that he seemed to know Darkwill, while Klein returned to the inn and began preparing the medicine.

Ch. 399The Missing Chapter Title

While recovering from his illness, Klein met Cyril, shared the Apothecary’s commission, and watched Edwina deliver aid to the resistance on Blue Mountain Island. Cyril then used Klein’s Gray Fog-stained paper figurines to make a charm from the power of Ulyssan, but the charm cracked, leaving him unsure whether it had received enough of the Gray Fog’s aura.

  • Klein brewed and drank medicine for his illness, and Cyril visited him to ask for materials blessed by the Gray Fog.
  • Klein told Cyril about the Apothecary’s search for Roy King, and Cyril explained that the Life School of Thought had split, with its Primordial Moon faction joining the Rose School of Thought.
  • Klein asked Cyril to take him to the resistance base, where they watched Edwina and the Golden Dream deliver supplies to the resistance on Blue Mountain Island.
  • Cyril returned to the Azure Wind Inn, sealed his bedroom, and prayed to the Fool for a bestowal using Klein’s Gray Fog-stained paper figurines.
  • Cyril transformed the Reenacted King of the North, Ulyssan, into a starlit charm, but the charm developed cracks.

Ch. 400Experiment

Cyril tested a Replication charm by summoning a frost dragon near Sea Wave Cathedral, drawing Sea King Jahn Kottman’s attention and stirring fear across Bayam. Klein learned that Roy King was imprisoned in the Governor’s Mansion, discussed Cyril’s charm and a possible business partnership, then prepared to use a paper crane to contact Will Auceptin.

  • Cyril used a Replication charm to summon a frost dragon outside Sea Wave Cathedral, and Sea King Jahn Kottman destroyed it with lightning before searching for its summoner.
  • Klein sensed the furious wind sweeping through Bayam, while Darkwill trembled in fear and argued with his owl about staying in the city.
  • Arrodes contacted Klein through the radio receiver, identified Roy King as a prisoner in the Governor’s Mansion, and explained what had happened at Sea Wave Cathedral.
  • Klein learned that Cyril’s charm could replicate creatures and abilities, and Cyril proposed making high-grade charms together using items tainted with the Gray Fog aura.
  • Klein agreed to experiment with the Gray Fog’s power and then planned to use Doctor Aaron’s paper crane to contact Will Auceptin.

Ch. 401Monday

Cyril dreamed that Ouroboros warned him with the Die of Probability, then prepared for a possible threat from Demonesses by ordering protective potions from Emlyn. At the Tarot Club, he offered teleportation and flash charms, and Audrey bought several.

  • Cyril entered a dream of the black spire, found the Die of Probability surrounded by the Wheel of Fortune, the Empress, and Judgment, and destroyed the dream with his recorded lightning.
  • Cyril woke, wondered whether to tell Adam about the dream, and later sealed his room before attending the Tarot Club.
  • Emlyn offered to sell miraculous potions, and Cyril ordered potions for recovering spirituality, treating injuries, preventing disease and two kinds of plague, and recovering from plague infection.
  • Cyril offered Flash and Teleport charms, and Audrey ordered three Teleport charms and two Flash charms.
