At the docks of Harry Island, a large group of burly, rough-looking men with thug-like expressions loitered around. They made money helping people unload cargo.
Of course, if the newcomers were merchants who looked easy to push around, they did more than merely unload goods.

The warship docked, dropped anchor, and lowered its gangplank in an orderly fashion.
A neat column of trainees in Marine uniforms marched down. Colonel T-Bone walked behind them, while Wu Biao and Koby brought up the rear.
"What the hell? Why isn't the cook on the warship making food?" Wu Biao complained indignantly.
Koby secretly laughed and raised the few pieces of rations in his hand. "During operations, we only bring these portable rations. The rations for everyone on this ship took the kitchen staff all night to prepare. They need to rest now too."
Wu Biao casually tore open the wrapping, tossed the ration into his mouth, and swallowed it with a jerk of his neck. "Are you kidding? This little thing isn't even enough to fill the gaps between my teeth."
Koby was speechless. Compressed rations might not taste great, but they were enough to stave off hunger. Probably only Brother Biao, with his appetite, would think even this wasn't enough to fill the gaps between his teeth.
"That's why we had you get off the ship—to find a restaurant and have a proper meal," Helmeppo said irritably.
"A restaurant..." Wu Biao curled his lip. "I
