The behavior of the two great churches in collecting pure souls and powerful physical bodies is no secret to other god-level powerhouses.
In fact, they even know that after the two great churches sacrifice these pure souls to the Lord of Light and the Lord of Darkness, they receive rewards in return, such as the descent of angels.
Of course, Andrew and the others only know the "what" and not the "why"; they do not know the reason why the Lord of Light and the Lord of Darkness require pure souls, and they simply look down upon such behavior.
Leian, however, is clear on the underlying reasons, though he offers no explanation.
In truth, the reason these two Chief Gods require pure souls is because they possess a heaven-and-earth wonder known as the Angel Rebirth Pool.
Once a pure soul is placed into the Angel Rebirth Pool, it can be transformed into a powerful humanoid weapon—an angel.
These angels are divided into six ranks, ranging from two wings, four wings... all the way up to twelve wings. The first three ranks are known as the lower three-tier angels, while the latter three are called the upper three-tier angels.
Generally speaking, the purer the soul, the higher the rank of the angel it transforms into, and correspondingly, the greater its strength.
Among them, the highest-ranked twelve-winged angels are at least on the level of Seven-Star Fiends, and some can even rival the Sovereigns of the Supreme Plane.
Such powerful and loyal humanoid weapons are of immense utility to the high-and-mighty Chief Gods, particularly during Plane Wars.
In his memories, the Sovereign of Fate, Orloff, relied on the powerful angels of the light faction to win ten consecutive Plane Wars, thereby earning the seven Chief Gods of the fate faction an additional reward of Willpower.
Of course, these powerful angels usually refer to the upper three-tier angels. Because the lower three-tier angels lack high strength, they are typically deployed to various material planes as rewards, which is what is known as the descent of angels.
Through all of this, it is clear just how important pure souls are to the two great churches, or rather, to the two factions of Chief Gods.
However, pure souls are not like cabbages to be found everywhere. If the two great churches want more pure souls, they have no choice but to seize more territory and more humans.
Under these circumstances, it is no surprise that the two great churches covet the other three continents.
And this covetousness naturally invites the hostility of other god-level powerhouses, which is the reason Andrew mentioned that they are not of the same path as the two Popes.
After finishing the secrets of the two great churches, Andrew looked at the thoughtful Leian and said jokingly, "What, worried that the two great churches will launch a war against the other continents?"
Leian suddenly snapped back to reality and said with a faint smile, "No, I was just curious why the two Popes, being god-level powerhouses themselves, would remain so loyal to the churches."
Although the two great churches spread faith for the two factions of Chief Gods, as Popes, they can actually siphon off twenty to thirty percent of the power of faith.
According to Andrew, the two Popes have been gods for over a hundred thousand years; for them, the power of faith should no longer be of much use.
As for the rewards for sacrificing pure souls, they should hold little attraction for god-level powerhouses either.
Thus, Leian truly cannot fathom why the two Popes would be so single-mindedly focused on expanding their territory.
Hearing this, Andrew shook his head and said, "The human heart—who can truly explain such things?"
As he spoke, he smacked his lips and continued, "Forget it, let's not talk about them. Let's discuss the remaining two god-level powerhouses."
At this point, Andrew coughed lightly, his expression suddenly turning serious.
"The last two god-level experts are not simple, as both of these lords are Median Gods. They are the Plane Guardian, Lord Wigan, and the master of the Dark Forest, Lord Beirut."
Leian has no interest in the Plane Guardian, but the moment the name "Beirut" was mentioned, he immediately perked up.
Leian finds Beirut's strength as a Median God not the least bit surprising; in fact, he suspects the man might already be a High God, and Andrew simply doesn't know it.
After all, Beirut's talent is exceptional. He vaguely remembers that before becoming a Chief God, the man could shatter a Chief God's projection avatar that possessed the strength of a Seven-Star Fiend, making him even stronger than the average Sovereign.
With such talent, after seven hundred thousand years of bitter cultivation, it is not impossible for him to have achieved the rank of High God.
Andrew, unaware of Leian's thoughts, first explained the role of the "Plane Guardian" before continuing:
"Lord Wigan is a lightning-element Median God who has served as the Plane Guardian for over a million years; I am not entirely sure of the exact duration.
"As for Lord Beirut, I know a little more. Lord Beirut became a god about seven hundred thousand years ago, and he also cultivates the Laws of Darkness.
"Both of these lords dislike crowds. Take Lord Beirut, for example; he has been in secluded cultivation for so many years and has almost never left the Dark Forest. Lord Wigan also stays in the Arctic Icecap and rarely visits the five continents."
At this, a hint of regret appeared on Andrew's face. As someone who loves to fight, he would have loved to experience the power of a Median God, but the moment he thought of their temperaments, he had to abandon the idea.
After all, Andrew is no fool. To someone who dislikes crowds, an uninvited intrusion would only invite resentment. If they were to develop murderous intent, he would surely die.
Leian had intended to ask for some information about Beirut, but hearing Andrew speak this way, he figured the man's knowledge was limited. At the very least, he hadn't even revealed Beirut's identity as a divine beast, whether out of ignorance or fear of speaking too freely.
Thinking of this, he gave up on the idea of probing and decided to choose a day in the future to visit the Dark Forest in person.
Setting this matter aside, Leian feigned a look of confusion and said:
"Our Yulan Plane has a long history; surely there must be more than just us few god-level powerhouses? Hearing you mention the Plane Guardian, could it be that they have all left?"
Andrew laughed:
"That is correct. To ordinary people, this material plane is boundlessly large, but to us god-level powerhouses, flying from east to west takes less than a day. After wandering for tens of thousands of years, it is inevitable to feel bored and develop the urge to leave.
"Speaking of which, it is your bad luck, Leian. If you had been born two thousand years earlier, you could have befriended several more god-level friends.
"Not to mention the distant past, just two thousand years ago, six god-level experts and over twenty Saint Realm limits left our five continents all at once."
"Over twenty Saint Realm limits?"
Leian looked at Andrew in astonishment. He didn't find it strange for god-level powerhouses to leave, but the departure of over twenty Saint Realm limits at once was truly beyond his expectations.
However, upon reflection, it made sense. Those people were not like Leian, who clearly understood the cruelty of the Supreme Planes. If those Saint Realm limits were unable to break through after thousands or even tens of thousands of years, choosing to go to the Supreme Planes to take a gamble was an understandable choice.
Just like Elvis's ancestor, Joyce; Leian remembered that their family genealogy recorded that Joyce had traveled to the Supreme Planes with close friends in order to seek a breakthrough.
And that was exactly two thousand years ago.
Andrew did not know what Leian was thinking. Seeing that expression on Leian's face, he assumed the other party was shocked by the number of people leaving and immediately explained:
"The number of people leaving this time is indeed higher than usual, but the main reason is that most of them have good relationships with the god-level powerhouses who are departing. Those god-level experts have also promised to look after them appropriately once they reach the Supreme Plane, which is why so many left all at once."
Having said this, Andrew chuckled and added:
"In fact, if it weren't for the fact that there was no one to take over my position, I might have left with them that time as well."
Upon hearing this, Leian thought to himself, It's a good thing you didn't go; otherwise, with your talent—having spent forty thousand years since becoming a god without yet breaking through to a median god—you would most likely have become cannon fodder, just there to hand over your godhead.
The temperature was twenty degrees a few days ago, but today it suddenly dropped below zero; it's miserable.
