"What are you doing at my house?"
When Nikola saw the man known alongside him as one of the Imperial Twin Moons sitting in front of his gate with a bottle of wine in hand, his temper flared.
I'm being compared to a guy like him?
He was furious.
But Nikola knew.
The man had come because he'd caught wind of what was going on.
He was no different from that girl in the Black Robe.
Whenever there was something he disliked or wasn't good at, he dumped it on the girl in the White Robe.
So Nikola looked at him with undisguised disdain.
"Don't ask. I had dinner with some colleagues from the Academy last night, and when I woke up, I found myself sitting here."
Albert smiled and raised the brown bottle in his hand, giving it a couple of shakes toward Nikola.
"Hey! How drunk would you have to get at dinner to stay drunk until the next afternoon? Go on, give me another performance."
People really did laugh when they were angry.
Nikola had never expected the man to try fooling him with such a lousy lie.
No... this wasn't even a lie anymore.
He was messing with him, plain and simple!
"Hahahaha, my dear friend, don't be like that..."
Albert wasn't angry when his little lie was mercilessly exposed.
He stood up with a laugh and brushed the dust off his backside.
Then he slung an arm around Nikola's neck.
And whispered in his ear.
"Tell me what happened in the carriage. I want to hear about that."
Nikola shot him a sidelong glance.
Then he pushed Albert's hand away and walked through the iron gate the guards had opened, entering his estate.
"Don't be so cold, Luo Mei. Come on, tell me."
Albert followed
