If he let this guy do the talking, no one knew what might go wrong.
And if something really did go wrong, he'd probably be the one cleaning up the mess.

"By the way, how exactly does that Magic Puppet carry out such complicated commands?"

A thousand years ago, whenever people wanted to make a Magic Puppet that could move around, they generally made it large.
Large enough to have sufficient space to inscribe all those instructions.
In other words, the more complicated a Magic Puppet's tasks were, the bigger it had to be.
There was no way it could reach this level of combat ability.
As an alchemist with some knowledge of Mechanomagicology, he knew full well there was only one way to accomplish this.
That was to rewrite the instructions.
Not just a little.
But completely.
Or... create an entirely new set of instructions.
Either way, it would be an almost
