Ch. 141Clinical Trial

Jiogan and Kurama Feiyun organized a seven-person clinical trial of the Conduction Device and Prosthetic Limb, recruiting injured former ninjas through public volunteers. The first participant regained limb movement and successfully used Fire Release, while the other trials were still underway.

  • Jiogan persuaded Kurama Feiyun to make seven Conduction Devices and recruit volunteers through Konoha Hospital, with participants chosen by lot.
  • Konoha Hospital received eighty applications, and Hiruzen Sarutobi promised the injured volunteers that the village would cover half the cost of official Prosthetic Limbs.
  • Kurama Feiyun drew five civilian-born former ninjas and two Ninja Clan members to take part in the trial.
  • Volunteer One connected his severed right arm to a Conduction Device, fitted a Prosthetic Limb, and soon regained nimble control of it.
  • Kurama Feiyun had Volunteer One test his Fire Release, and after several attempts he successfully produced a normal-sized Great Fireball.

Ch. 142Great Success

Kurama Feiyun’s clinical trial of the Enduring Ninja Plan succeeded for six of seven volunteers, allowing them to use prosthetic limbs and, in most cases, perform Ninjutsu. The trial ended with village-wide excitement as injured ninjas and their families began asking when the finished prosthetics would be available.

  • Volunteer One adapted to his prosthetic limb and successfully performed the Great Fireball Technique, moving Kurama Feiyun and the Observation Delegation.
  • Hiruzen Sarutobi urged the delegation to wait for the remaining volunteers’ test results before drawing conclusions.
  • Nara Shikafu adapted to his prosthetic arms and successfully used the Shadow Binding Jutsu and Shadow Gathering Jutsu, prompting his brother and the other clan heads to celebrate.
  • All seven volunteers completed the clinical trial, with six successfully verifying their Ninjutsu and the seventh still able to live normally with his prosthetic limb.
  • Kurama Feiyun announced the trial’s conclusion and said the team would compile its data for the Jonin Meeting.
  • News of the successful trial spread through Konoha, and injured ninjas and their families began asking Konoha Hospital when the finished prosthetics would be available.

Ch. 143Danzo and Orochimaru

  • Kurama Feiyun's research team celebrated in Konoha Back Mountain, where Jiogan cooked for Tsunade and discussed Jiraiya's Sage Mode training and Orochimaru's experiments.
  • Shimura Danzō confronted Orochimaru in his laboratory and demanded an update on the secret Hashirama Cells cultivation experiment.
  • Orochimaru explained that Hashirama Cells overwhelmed ordinary cells but could be suppressed with special drugs, then took Shimura Danzō's cells for fusion tests.
  • After Shimura Danzō left, Orochimaru considered in-vitro fusion only the first step and eagerly anticipated human experimentation.

Ch. 144Letter from Kirigakure

Hiruzen Sarutobi received Kirigakure’s request for Jiogan to treat Yuki Sora and return two stolen ninja blades, and Jiogan agreed to treat him while leaving Nuibari’s return to Tsunade. The chapter revealed that the Third Mizukage and Yuki Hyouga planned to use the request to recruit Jiogan by telling him he was descended from the Yuki Clan.

  • Hiruzen Sarutobi and Hatake Sakumo discussed Kirigakure’s letter requesting treatment for Yuki Sora and the return of Nuibari and Exploding Blade Shibuki.
  • Jiogan agreed to treat Yuki Sora and said he could return Shibuki, but Tsunade would decide whether Nuibari was returned.
  • Jiogan told Hiruzen Sarutobi that Kirigakure should send someone to Konoha, and Hiruzen agreed to negotiate on that basis.
  • After leaving the Hokage’s Office, Jiogan wondered why the Third Mizukage wanted Yuki Sora treated and suspected Kirigakure had another motive.
  • The Third Mizukage and Yuki Hyouga revealed that Jiogan descended from a Yuki Clan branch that had settled in the Land of Fire.
  • The Third Mizukage and Yuki Hyouga agreed on a plan to use Jiogan’s ancestry to draw him toward Kirigakure and encourage him to show restraint toward the village.

Ch. 145Preliminary Treatment

Jiogan treated the gravely injured Yuki Sora after the Kirigakure delegation arrived in Konoha, and Tsunade stabilized him at the hospital. After thanking Jiogan, Yuki Hyouga gave him a mysterious scroll and left him wondering what it contained.

  • Yuki Hyouga and Jūzō Biwa led the Kirigakure group into Konoha, where Hatake Sakumo arranged their stay at the inn.
  • Jiogan sensed that Yuki Sora was near death and got Hiruzen Sarutobi's approval to provide preliminary treatment.
  • Jiogan treated Yuki Sora at the inn and told Yuki Hyouga that he needed immediate care at Konoha Hospital.
  • Tsunade treated Yuki Sora and pulled him back from death's door, though he remained unconscious.
  • Yuki Hyouga thanked Jiogan and Tsunade, then handed Jiogan a scroll that he said would interest him before returning to the inn.

Ch. 146Secret History of the Yuki Clan

Jiogan read the Yuki Clan’s history and Yuki Hyouga’s letter, which claimed Jiogan was descended from a branch that had settled in the Land of Fire. After Kurama Feiyun read the documents, Jiogan said he would remain in Konoha despite the possible blood connection.

  • Jiogan opened Yuki Hyouga’s scroll and discovered ancient Yuki Clan records and a letter.
  • Jiogan read that the Yuki Clan descended from a disciple of the Sage of Six Paths and learned that an ancestor had migrated to the eastern coast of the Land of Fire.
  • Jiogan read Yuki Hyouga’s letter, which explained that the Yuki Clan had traced Jiogan’s ancestors to that migration and offered him the clan leadership and their support.
  • Jiogan showed the documents to Kurama Feiyun, who read them while he prepared porridge.
  • Jiogan told Kurama Feiyun that his Ice Release had not come from combining Water and Wind Release, but said he would not leave Konoha.

Ch. 147Jiogan's Answer

Jiogan addressed the Yuki Clan’s claim on his ancestry and met with the Kirigakure delegation, agreeing to verify the clan’s account while keeping their connection secret. After deciding he needed an escape route from Konoha’s schemes, he considered using Steam Power to improve his movement and attacks in giant form.

  • Jiogan told Kurama Feiyun that he would warn the Yuki Clan not to reveal his identity, and Feiyun promised to leave Konoha with him if he was forced out.
  • Hiruzen Sarutobi met with Yuki Hyouga and Jūzō Biwa, confirmed the arrangements for Yuki Sora’s treatment and the return of the swords, and allowed the delegation to move around Konoha under Anbu protection.
  • Jiogan told Yuki Hyouga he would verify the scroll and keep his Yuki Clan connection secret, then arranged to spar with Jūzō Biwa in swordsmanship.
  • Jiogan decided to preserve the option of leaving Konoha and went to cultivate in the Konoha Spirit Gathering Array.
  • Jiogan realized he might use Steam Power to accelerate himself and strengthen his attacks while in giant form.

Ch. 148Blade Technique Duel!

After developing his steam-power research, Jiogan sparred with Jūzō Biwa at Konoha's Second Training Ground using Exploding Blade Shibuki against Kubikiribōchō. Jiogan stopped his final strike with a burst of steam, leaving Jūzō shaken and the training ground devastated.

  • Jiogan reflected that steam's reverse thrust might let him fly, then returned home and went with Kurama Feiyun to Konoha Hospital to check on Yuki Sora.
  • Jiogan found Jūzō Biwa at Konoha Inn, and the two went to the Second Training Ground to spar while Hiruzen Sarutobi watched with the Telescope Technique.

  • Jiogan stopped Shibuki at Jūzō's neck with a burst of steam, ending the spar as Jūzō collapsed to his knees.

Ch. 149Hiruzen Sarutobi's Heart

Jiogan defeated Jūzō Biwa in a spar, leaving him terrified and impressing Hiruzen Sarutobi with his growing strength. Hiruzen arranged for Jiraiya to lead Minato Namikaze as a student, while planning to keep Jiogan and Kushina in Konoha as protection against Madara Uchiha.

  • Jiogan ended his spar with Jūzō Biwa, who returned to Konoha and stayed shut in his inn room until Kirigakure departed.
  • Hiruzen Sarutobi watched the spar and privately concluded that Jiogan had surpassed him, then grew resentful over Jiogan's strength and standing in Konoha.
  • Jiraiya returned from training and told Hiruzen Sarutobi he planned to travel, but Hiruzen ordered him to become a Jonin Instructor.
  • Hiruzen Sarutobi required Jiraiya to take Minato Namikaze onto his team, and Jiraiya reluctantly agreed after learning Jiogan would likely stay in Konoha to guide Kushina.

  • Jiogan used Water Release: Water Wave to scatter the Sannin, then defeated Tsunade and Orochimaru in close combat while countering Jiraiya's techniques.
  • Jiogan nullified the Sannin's combined Fire and Wind Release attack and unleashed a barrage of Water Spears that the trio barely blocked.
  • Jiraiya told Orochimaru and Tsunade to buy him time while he prepared to use Sage Mode.

Ch. 152Many Snakes Manifestation Array!

Jiogan-kun battled Orochimaru and Tsunade while Jiraiya prepared to enter Sage Mode. After freezing and shattering Orochimaru’s Many Snakes Manifestation Array, Jiogan-kun summoned a giant Water Wolf and launched a huge Water Ball at the three Sannin, which smashed through Orochimaru’s Rashomon.

  • Jiraiya used Five Right Guards, but Jiogan’s Great Exploding Water Wave overwhelmed the attack and Jiogan pressed Jiraiya with water attacks.
  • Sage Shima severed the water wolf’s head, but it quickly regrew, and Sage Fukasaku concluded that the Sages needed to expose Jiogan inside it.
  • Jiraiya summoned Gama Bunta, Gama Ken, and Gama Hiro, who fought Jiogan’s water wolf and drove it into a disadvantageous position.
  • Tsunade and Orochimaru chose to watch as Jiraiya continued fighting with the Toad Sages and the Three Toad Giants.

  • At Tsunade's request, Jiogan flew toward the coast so they could enjoy the scenery before heading back over land.
  • Orochimaru and Jiraiya asked how Konoha could prevent war, and Jiogan argued for military strength and deeper economic ties between nations.
  • Jiogan refused to be persuaded to become Hokage, and the others laughed as Orochimaru reconsidered his own thoughts.

Ch. 156Labyrinth Space

Jiogan entered Kurama Feiyun’s Labyrinth Space to investigate the strange dreams that began after her intense Genjutsu training. Together they reached a reddish-brown cavern beyond the labyrinth, where Jiogan suspected they were nearing the source of the phenomenon.
