Background / History

Honami moved next door to Miyano Makoto as a child. Because her father was absent and her mother was raising Honami and her younger sister, Honami became unusually responsible early in life, helping with household work and suppressing her own desire to rely on others. She recognized that her outwardly perfect behavior began as a “mask” meant to avoid burdening her mother. 50

Her first impression of Makoto was that he was awkward and strange. Their relationship changed after he asked her to make sachets for his parents, insisted on compensating her fairly, and invited her to accompany him to a chess tournament because he wanted company.
