Background

Class D is assigned a collection of students with widely varying abilities, personalities, and levels of discipline. From the beginning, its classroom is marked by cliques, phone use, sleeping in class, arguments, and a lack of shared purpose. Natsukawa Sosuke views the class's mixture of “oddballs” and talented individuals as an environment where he can influence events from behind the scenes. 2 6

During the first month, most of the class ignores Class B's warnings about campus discipline and freely spends its initial private points. The result is an unprecedented loss of all 1,000 Class Points, leaving Class D at zero and exposing the threat of expulsion for failing any subject. 15 16

The class gradually begins rebuilding through study groups organized by Hirata Yosuke, tutoring efforts involving Natsukawa and Sakura Airi, and cooperation with Class B. Its first major recovery comes when every student passes the midterms and the class gains 95 points. 19 31

Chabashira reveals that students who fail even one subject in the midterm or final exams will be expelled. The announcement forces the class to confront both its academic weakness and its lack of discipline. 16

Midterm Recovery

Hirata establishes an after-school study group, while Natsukawa tutors Sakura and fulfills his own required study time. Class B later joins Class D in joint study sessions after learning that Chabashira deliberately supplied Class D with an incorrect exam scope. 19 25

The class survives the midterms without expulsions and earns 95 Class Points. Much of Class D credits Kushida for the recovery, though its broader success also relies on its cooperation with Class B. 31 33

Sudo Assault Hearing

After Sudo is accused of assaulting three Class C basketball-club students, Class D initially fractures under the loss of 100 points and suspicion toward him. Hirata and Kushida rally students to investigate, while Class B offers assistance and posts a reward for witnesses. 47 48 51

Horikita and Natsukawa represent Class D at the disciplinary hearing. Using Natsukawa's prepared evidence, surveillance screenshots, and questioning strategy, Horikita secures separate examinations of the Class C witnesses. Their inconsistent testimonies lead Ishizaki Daichi to confess to framing Sudo. 58 60 62

Class C loses 100 Class Points, while Sudo receives a three-day suspension. Class D celebrates the result as Horikita's victory, though Horikita recognizes Natsukawa as the architect of the hearing strategy. 62 63

Uninhabited Island Exam

Class D selects Natsukawa as its leader for the island special exam. He proposes concealing the entrance to the class's cave base and uses his leader key card to occupy base points with Ayanokoji. 70 75

The class ultimately wins the exam with 285 points. The result marks its first special-exam victory over the other first-year classes. 81

VIP Exam

During the cruise-ship VIP exam, Class D becomes entangled in negotiations and information exchanges involving Classes A and B. Natsukawa works with Katsuragi Kohei while Horikita identifies several VIPs. 85 88

Sports Festival
