Sadly, such a pale and powerless appeal seemed utterly incapable of moving those who read pirated copies!

I really had no choice. This book had already passed 2.3 million words. There had never been any anti-piracy measures before; putting them in place now was like mending the fold after the sheep were gone, with little effect.

But if I didn't fight piracy, then watching follow-up subscriptions fall, new additions fall, and average subscriptions refuse to rise... I was worrying so much my hair was about to fall out.

No choice, then—I'd fight piracy. Since appeals couldn't win back subscriptions from those reading pirated copies, I could only use this method to "invite" you to subscribe and offer some support.

Some people said certain chapters were boring and they didn't want to subscribe. Reading that left me speechless.

I asked myself whether I hadn't always carefully planned the plot, doing my utmost to avoid padding and repetition. A book had its rises and falls; that was perfectly normal. But that absolutely wasn't a reason for you to say such things after reading pirated copies, okay?

When you read pirated copies and then leave comments like that, compared to something in real life, it was like
