Even though she knew she shouldn't say such things in front of him, she just couldn't help herself.
"Are you an idiot?" Looking at Horikita Suzune's aggrieved face, Asakusa Toru was genuinely baffled.
Is there something wrong with this person's thought process?
Originally, there were no classes after the special exam results were settled today, so he had nothing better to do and didn't want to stay in the classroom, which is why he came to the roadside to sit and catch a breeze.
He hadn't been sitting there long before Horikita Suzune, looking dazed and mentally adrift, sat down beside him.
Because the aura she was giving off was quite unpleasant, he had tossed her a popsicle; although it was only an E-rank reward, it still had some calming effects.
Who would have thought that after eating his popsicle, this idiot would start dumping her emotional trash on him without invitation?
I can't take it anymore.
I'm going to use the Movable Type Printing Technique.
Asakusa Toru reached back and pulled out his Infinite Voice Recorder, then searched for the recordings he had made while he was around Horikita Manabu.
As mentioned before, the Infinite Voice Recorder retains every sound around him, and he can freely crop any time segment.
--Even if the cropped audio is only a single character.
In other words, as long as the person had said the corresponding words while near him, he could openly process them for secondary use.
This is different from the combo set of collecting voice samples to build a model for voice mimicry and then using Voice Transmission.
That method cannot be exposed easily and can only be used secretly to play dirty.
But this is different.
The disjointed, spliced feeling that anyone can hear is exactly what he wants.
It's just like the "ghost animal" videos on Bilibili; if the tuning is too realistic, it loses the flavor.
What he wants is that specific feeling where you can recognize whose voice it is, but you also clearly know that it is absolutely not something they would say.
It exists between rumor and non-rumor, an excellent weapon for attack.
"You, stu, pid, ?"
"You, learn, base, ?"
"You, choose, avoid, ?"
Mechanical, stiff, and intermittent, the Movable Type Printing Technique extracted the only few similar characters available.
Asakusa Toru didn't have much contact with Horikita Manabu, only during the days of the Club Orientation, so the usable dialogue he recorded was limited to those few sparse sentences.
But even these few sentences were enough.
Horikita Manabu would never use foul language, so he couldn't directly extract the words he wanted.
But if it was just an approximate tone, by simply adjusting the pitch, he could still achieve the effect he wanted.
And so, the Movable Type Printing Technique was complete.
"Are... you... an... 'idiot'?"
In the recorder held in Asakusa Toru's hand, Horikita Manabu's stiff voice repeated those words.
"..." Horikita Suzune was stunned.
She was still holding the wooden stick with a bit of saliva on it, frozen on the bench.
She, she heard what?
Me, him, brother...
I was scolded.
He called me an idiot.
Then he took out a recorder and played my brother's voice.
Brother also... called me an idiot.
No, no, no, that's not right, that's a recording, and although that voice is recognizable as my brother's, it's completely wrong; my brother would never speak like that.
So vulgar, so contemptuous, and so blurry.
...It was completely something forcibly spliced together using recorded clips.
But even so, whether her brain was malfunctioning or what, such a thought popped into Horikita Suzune's mind.
Advanced Nurturing is truly harmful; my brother called me a big idiot.
In the past, he would only call me a useless person.
Author's Note
First, let's open a bounty.
1000 recommendation votes, 100 monthly tickets, 100 blades, 10000 in tips, each corresponding to one update of 2000 words, with a cap of 30 chapters. I'm giving you the chance to whip me for a month. The deadline is two days; I will check the backend data after these two days to settle the count.
Actually, I wanted to have no cap, but after thinking about it, I chickened out. Although I feel like I might not even reach the cap, I really don't have much confidence if there's no limit.
If I start getting cocky next month and feel like I can handle it, I'll open the bounty again.
The daily 4k is the baseline, anything above that counts toward the bounty. Tomorrow, I'll be releasing 5 chapters for the launch, which aren't included in the bounty—it wouldn't be right not to go all out for a launch.
Next is the Hani Diary.
White Haniwa's Flop Diary:
April 25th, started a new book, but the reviews are mediocre. Sigh, I hope I don't get eliminated in the first round of testing again. I get eliminated every time; I really want to advance just once.
May 2nd, started the test run, feeling nervous.
May 9th, advanced through the test run. So many people, it's so lively.
May 12th, hit the click rankings, first time ever.
May 16th, advanced, then got scolded.
May 19th, it's okay, I'm great at handling pressure, sob sob sob.
May 22nd, launching tomorrow!
Anyway, this is the launch announcement. Since I'm launching, I'm posting this.
I used to ramble a lot for launches, but now I'll just chat casually as usual. If you're interested, feel free to take a look.
I'm a total flop; I've written for ages and never had a book advance past the first round of testing. My old habit is needing to stack content in the early stages to get the plot moving, otherwise, it's hard to get into the zone.
So, after reflecting on it a few times, I decided to try a fast-paced opening this time.
The results were unexpectedly good.
But once the pacing speeds up, problems naturally arise. The biggest issue is that the 4k daily update during the new book period can't keep up with the needs of a fast-paced plot. Any attempt to add transitions in the middle of fast-paced scenes makes it feel sluggish. However, when the pace is fast and changes are frequent, it's inevitable that the length increases, which in turn makes the pacing seem like it's slowing down.
To solve this, the simplest way is to mass-release chapters.
So, I tried to add a little extra where I could, but adding any more would mean losing a round of recommendations. Since I've managed to get all the recommendations for once, I really want to make the most of them.
Still, I have to reflect; next time I might try skipping a round of exposure to maintain 6k for a while, that might be better.
I don't write particularly fast, but fortunately, I have plenty of time, so I can manage to write as much as possible. Setting up a bounty is also a way to put some pressure on myself.
I guarantee a completion; I consider my integrity to be decent. I've completed works totaling two million words on this site, so I rarely make promises I can't keep. I'm a conservative person in that regard.
So, regardless, please support the first subscription. Thank you, meow.
I wanted to say more, but I think that's enough. Less nonsense, more writing!
Anyway, the launch is tomorrow. If you've read this far, please support the first subscription. Subscriptions are the best motivation.

That is all.

Chapter 60 Self-Awareness
...Well, that's not exactly a pleasant thing to hear.
But regardless, this guy is really going too far.
With the sound of the Movable Type Printing still replaying in her ears, Horikita Suzune gradually regained her senses.
She didn't care what her brother thought of her, but she couldn't let him use this kind of fabricated recording to smear her brother's image!
Thinking of this, she gritted her teeth, leaned forward, braced herself with her left hand, and lunged with her right hand toward the Voice Recorder.
"--"
He reacted.
Asa-kusa Toru raised the Voice Recorder high, and Horikita Suzune's hand swiped at empty air. Because she was too impatient, she didn't even plant her left hand firmly, causing her upper body to lose balance. Following the momentum of her reaching right hand, she fell forward, and her head slammed right into the chair.
"Ugh--" The girl let out a cry of pain.
"..." Looking at the disheveled Horikita Suzune, Asakusa Toru wore an expression of utter disbelief: "Are you an idiot?"
He repeated the question once more.
He really started to find it unbelievable.
He hadn't seen her in action much before; he mostly just listened to the recordings transcribed from the Voice Recorder, rather than watching through text, animation, or others' accounts.
Being a bit stupid or naive was something he could just laugh off.
But now, he started to get curious.
"I offered you a popsicle, why are you trying to snatch my Voice Recorder?" Asakusa Toru was a bit puzzled: "You can't even eat a popsicle properly, and on top of that, you try to snatch a recorder and end up banging your own head."
"No wonder your brother thinks you're useless."
"Aren't you a child, sister?"
"Only when little kids do stupid things is it considered cute. Once a person grows up and acts stupid, they should feel ashamed."
Of course, kids acting stupid can also give people high blood pressure, but there's no need to talk about that right now.
Gently turning off the repeating Movable Type Printing, Asakusa Toru put away the Voice Recorder and frowned as he looked at Horikita Suzune, who was clutching her head with a faint, teary-eyed expression.
An indescribable sense of fragility radiated from her.
Annoying; the vibe this person was giving off right now was truly infuriating.
When it came down to it, why was she holding her head when it was her chin that had been bumped? Was it to hide her face?
"...So annoying." Muttering a curse under his breath, Asakusa Toru reached into his pocket and pulled out another popsicle.
[Name: Mind-Calming Popsicle]
[Category: Consumable]
[Effect: A bulk-buy pack of 40 sweet popsicles, the top choice for calming the nerves, contains no additional medicinal ingredients.]
[Note: "Want one?"]
With limited space in his pockets, he had to rely on the barely-useful E-rank item, the Thermal Pocket, to keep three or five popsicles on hand at any given time.
Casually tearing open the wrapper and crumpling it into a ball before shoving it back into his pocket, Asakusa Toru pinched Horikita Suzune's chin with one hand, pried her mouth open, and then shoved the ice-cold popsicle into her mouth with extreme roughness.
"Mmph—" The sensation of a foreign object entering her mouth and reaching toward her throat triggered an instinctive gag reflex in Horikita Suzune's body, but she couldn't bring anything up and was forced to let Asakusa Toru ram the stick-shaped object into her throat.
"Wuh?!" The girl's tear-filled eyes looked upward as Horikita Suzune glared fiercely at Asakusa Toru.
Again?!
However... although his actions were incredibly violent, miraculously, as the popsicle began to melt in her mouth, the emotions in her heart began to settle down.
"Eat it, then keep your mouth shut." Releasing his grip on Horikita Suzune, Asakusa Toru commanded.
And so, with extreme docility, Horikita Suzune held onto the wooden stick of the popsicle in her mouth, not doing anything else.
"I don't want to be a therapist, and I have no intention of being anyone's emotional trash can." Pulling out a pack of tissues, he slowly and methodically wiped his hand, which was stained with either condensation from the popsicle, Horikita Suzune's tears, or perhaps her saliva, and shook his head: "But I'll make an exception just this once."
