Ibuki was nearing the limits of her patience, so after tormenting her for two hours, Eito decided to let her off the hook.
"Hey, Ibuki, how about we have a proper talk?"
"About what? I'm not interested in that kind of thing." Ibuki sat down beside him, fanning herself with her hand.
"No, no, I'm serious this time," Eito said. "Would you consider actually becoming my subordinate?"
"...What are you talking about? I already—"
"You don't have to pretend anymore. I saw through you a long time ago." Eito grabbed her face and made her look at him. "I'm a lot smarter than you think."
"..."
"You've heard about the class transfer system at this school, right? You can choose whichever class you like, as long as you have twenty million points."
"Twenty million? So what? There's no way you can get that much money."
"True. Even if I told you I had the means to get it right now, you wouldn't believe me. But you have the means yourself."
"Me?" Ibuki pointed at herself. "You're crazy."
"No. If you could control the wealth of an entire class, and everyone contributed thirty thousand points each month, it would take only seventeen months to collect twenty million."
"Is that so? But do you think I'm the kind of person who'd betray her class?"
"Whether you betray them doesn't matter. But have you thought about everyone else?" Eito said. "Do you really think someone like Ryuen would dutifully put the class first? He doesn't even trust his own people, so why would he sacrifice anything for the class?"
"..." Ibuki fell silent.
"Maybe he's secretly saving up points so he can leap to the top. And the people in Class C are ridiculous for blindly trusting him. When you regret it someday, go find some empty place to cry. I'll find somewhere to sit and watch you all cry."
"What are you trying to do?" Ibuki asked. This time, her expression was serious. She probably thought Eito had a point.
She couldn't completely trust someone like Ryuen, and she knew perfectly well that Ryuen didn't trust her either.
"I'm not trying to do anything," Eito said with a smile. "I'm just offering you another path. If you ever discover Ryuen's intentions, I can personally help you come up with a plan to replace him completely, or take away the points he's worked so hard to save."
"What's your motive? I don't believe you'd be this kindhearted." Ibuki stared intently into his eyes.
"My motive's simple." Eito ran his hand from her shoulder down to her thigh, all the way to the top of it.
"—I get it." Ibuki pushed his hand away, her face a little flushed.
She believed him just like that?
As expected, acting like a pervert was the easiest way—and the least likely to arouse suspicion.
"So, do you agree? Then let's keep what happened today a secret. Don't report what I just said to Ryuen. If you want to tell him, go ahead. It'd just be stupid. Between framing me and securing your own future, anyone with a brain would know which to choose—unless you really hate me."
Ibuki nodded.
And so, Ibuki became his spy.
He couldn't trust Ibuki, and he couldn't tell her what he was really after.
The only reason he'd turned her was because he thought it would be fun.
If Ibuki refused to listen and told Ryuen everything, he'd be even happier.
If things continued like this, Ryuen wouldn't stand a chance of bouncing back. He couldn't even handle Ayanokoji, let alone Eito. If Eito didn't find him some more amusement, he'd die of boredom.
Class B wasn't all that interesting. He didn't think Ichinose was particularly impressive. The only one who interested him was Sakayanagi Arisu.
He wanted to see what kind of brilliant moves this woman, who also liked to play dirty, would make.
He was back again, and this time he noticed more people looking at him.
It made sense. He was the center of attention.
So he had to be careful. If he talked to any girl for too long, people would suspect they had an improper relationship.
This would probably die down after a while.
With no cute girls to hang out with, he could only amuse himself with the Three Idiots.
Fortunately, the Three Idiots had returned.
Among them, Ike was the most worked up. He looked like he wanted to kill Eito.
"Damn it... Takeda, you again! A girl actually confessed to you in front of everyone!"
Ike was about to charge at him when Sudo grabbed him by the shirt.
"Key, what are you doing? He's over there—you grabbed the wrong person."
Sudo flicked him on the forehead.
"I didn't grab the wrong person. Now calm down."
"Uh, Haruki, you—"
"I don't care. I've seen through the vanity of this world." Yamauchi sat cross-legged and closed his eyes.
Yeah, right.
Ike shot him a look of contempt.
They'd been talking about cute girls just a moment ago, and now he was a monk? Did he think Ike was an idiot?
Ike looked at Eito again.
When he saw Eito looking at him and chuckling under his breath, his heart sank.
Could it be...?
Ike suddenly felt a chill.
An inexplicably unnatural feeling welled up inside him.
Everything that had happened recently felt so unreal. His two friends had suddenly changed their attitudes. Kushida was ignoring him. Eito had suddenly become popular. It was as if everything revolved around that one person.
And he was just some side character.
It suddenly reminded him of a movie he'd seen before.
The Truman Show.
But he wasn't the main character. He felt like everything was deceiving him, like this show hadn't been made for him, but to mock him.
He was the Joker.
And that person—
He appeared before Ike and held out a hand.
"Want to join us? Everything will become clear."
"I... I'll join."
Ike reached out.
He had a feeling that he was about to learn the truth.
But then—
"What the hell are you talking about?"
Eito grabbed his hand and threw him straight to the ground.
"Stop sleepwalking. Get up."
He patted Ike's cheek. When Ike didn't react, he grabbed the side of Ike's face and stretched it from both sides.
"Ugh—ow, ow!"
Ike finally came to his senses. When he saw Eito's face, he started flailing.
"Takeda, I challenge you to a duel!"
"Oh? What are we competing in?" Eito asked casually.
"Fishing. Let's see who catches more."
"I see."
Ike had deliberately picked something he was good at and Eito wasn't.
"I accept," Eito said.
Even though he didn't know how to fish, he could control the fish's bodies, so he had nothing to worry about.
And the result was—
"I lost! Damn it!"
Ike stamped his feet in frustration. "So you're even good at fishing! Tell me, what can't you do?"
"What can't I do?" Eito pondered. "I can't draw, play the piano, or do calligraphy."
Ike was speechless.
"Most people can't do those things, though."
"So I'm not good at everything." Eito shook his head. "It's just that you think I can do everything."
"...I'm going to kill you today!"
"Good grief."
Ike started another pointless attempt at suicide.
But Eito could tell that the guy was actually pretty happy.
Was he a masochist?
Or did he just like being bullied by Eito?
That was... really gross.
Putting that aside, the Island Exam would be over in two days.
Although he hadn't planned on helping Class D, he'd dealt with Ibuki's threat, even though she'd originally been nothing more than a pawn used by Ayanokoji.
And he'd already told Ayanokoji the location of his base and the approximate positions of the other classes. With his ability, getting through this exam smoothly should be quite simple.
Class D would probably earn quite a lot of points this time.
Ryuen, on the other hand, would likely be disappointed.
The Story of an Experienced Me Dating a Girl with No Experience
Day Six.
There was only one day left in the exam, and his classmates' excitement had reached its peak.
They still had more than a hundred and fifty points, thanks to Eito. He'd contributed the map early on, solving their food shortage and most of their other problems.
Eito, however, was now facing another problem.
Sato.
She'd called him out some time ago, claiming she wanted to go for a walk, and left the class with him.
But now she was silent, her usual lively mood gone.
She walked ahead, kicking stones and lost in thought.
That was the consequence of laying everything bare.
When one person in a close relationship between a boy and a girl confessed, things became very awkward.
There were only two possible outcomes: they either became closer or went their separate ways.
Normally, Eito would have broken the tension and brought back a friendly, harmonious atmosphere.
But this time, he deliberately kept quiet, wanting to see how Sato would handle it.
Before long, Sato said,
"The weather's really nice today."
