After hearing this long analysis, Kushida Kikyo's palms had actually begun to sweat. He had basically guessed everything right. If she weren't worried that Horikita Suzune might reveal her past, she wouldn't have been so determined to get close to her.
"Looks like my analysis was right."
Hashiba Hikaru squeezed Kushida Kikyo's little hand. He could naturally feel the sweat on her skin, though he couldn't tell whether it came from nervousness or worry.
"But about that, I think you can set your unease aside for now, Kushida. I haven't heard anything from her." The boy's tone was sincere.
"Really?"
Kushida looked doubtful. Her beautiful eyes fixed intently on Hashiba Hikaru's expression, while the warmth in her palm continued to spread. She thought she could even feel his steady heartbeat.
"Of course."
Hashiba Hikaru nodded, then changed his tone and said with a hint of amusement, "But if I really had heard that secret of yours from Horikita, I might have made a different decision."
"What... different decision?"
Kushida Kikyo noticed that he had started looking her over. His gaze wandered across her upper body, his target obvious.
"What are you doing!" the girl snapped. A blush rose across her little face, though it was hard to tell whether she was angry or embarrassed.
"I'm just proving a point to you, Kushida," Hashiba Hikaru said with a smile. "Last time, I only saw you straddling the railing, and you immediately threatened me that way."
"If I really knew that important secret, I might use it to blackmail you. I wouldn't have anything to lose, would I?"
"..."
Though she hated to admit it, after hearing his explanation, Kushida Kikyo found herself accepting it. If he really knew that secret about her, his attitude toward her would probably change completely.
