The Mermaid Princess in Hailan's arms suddenly let out a long breath. Her pale eyelashes fluttered, and she slowly opened her eyes.

That patch of blue occupied only the smallest part of her vision, yet instantly drew all of Pearl's attention.

"Ah..." Pearl opened her mouth and made a meaningless sound.

That sound seemed to flip a switch, setting the entire frozen world in motion again.

But as the fiery lava continued to fall, a blue barrier appeared and caught it all.

Vast amounts of white steam billowed up as if boiling, accompanied by a sizzling sound. The heat surged upward too, rushing toward Luo Ye in midair.

Luo Ye immediately retreated, dodging the terrifyingly hot steam.

But he didn't stop attacking. As he backed away, he conjured a firebird with three pairs of wings in front of him. Wrapped in cracks and letting out a mournful cry, it plunged toward the world shrouded in steam.

The enormous firebird beat its three pairs of even broader wings, clearing a path through the thick white mist before it.

Yet when the path opened, the mermaids—whom Luo Ye had assumed would have taken the opportunity to escape—were still standing there dumbly, gazing up at the sky.
