The two of them bickered and laughed as they went, their voices filled with joy.
Lin Luo could have taken a shortcut to the Dragon-Burnt Ruins to find that treasure chest.
There was a teleportation trap there that would take him directly to Caelid, but that trap would also cut off Lin Luo's connection to the Sites of Grace.
This would mean losing the chance to be close to Melina, and Lin Luo would absolutely not do anything so foolish!
Anyway, General Radahn was stuck there and couldn't get out, and the Warrior's Festival was still two days away, so he wasn't in a hurry.
Torrent slowly ambled along the path in Limgrave.
The surrounding scenery slowly receded before Lin Luo's eyes, and a gentle breeze brushed his face, carrying the scent of Caelid.
It was a faint, fishy smell, the scent of Scarlet Rot.
Back then, the Goddess of War Malenia and General Radahn had clashed in the Aeonia Swamp in Caelid. The Goddess of War, at a disadvantage, released the Scarlet Rot within her.
Starscourage was corrupted by the Scarlet Rot and lost his senses, locking himself away in the Wailing Dunes. Malenia was severely wounded and fell into a coma, but it was the Cleanrot Knights who protected her and brought her back to the Sacred Tree.
Neither of them gained anything. Malenia had sought to reclaim Miquella, but had no idea how Miquella had come to her in the first place. Starscourage had no idea either.
The two of them had fought in a confused mess, and the whole of Caelid suffered for it...
The entire land of Caelid had been dyed by the Scarlet Rot, and almost no normal creature could survive there.
Lin Luo couldn't help but sigh at the chaos of the Lands Between, finding no peaceful place in the entire realm.
However, he imagined that in Lin Luo's future journey, the Lands Between would get better and better. Weren't Castle Morne and Stormveil Castle proof of that success?
"...Hey—is anyone there—? Can anyone help me? I'm stuck—hey—hey—is anyone there?"
At that moment, a hoarse voice interrupted Lin Luo's thoughts.
The voice came from a hillside next to the Saintsbridge. Lin Luo patted Torrent's rear and gestured for it to go forward.
As they reached the hillside, they saw a Warrior Jar stuck in the earth, its body half-buried and unable to move, calling for help. Seeing someone approach, the Warrior Jar said happily:
"Oh, you've come at just the right time! I'm Warrior Jar, 'Iron Fist' Alexander. As you can see, I'm stuck in this hole. I hope you can help me out of this predicament."
"Hmm... no problem,"
Lin Luo replied, a slight smile on his lips.
"You're willing to help! Thank you! Then please, use anything large enough to hit my bottom. That should free me. I'm very strong, so don't worry. I do work out, after all. Just hit it hard."
Alexander gestured with his two arms, indicating he could take it.
Seeing this, Lin Luo didn't hesitate and walked directly behind Alexander.
He naturally wouldn't be foolish enough to use the Black Sword to hit it.
Lin Luo rummaged through his storage bag for a while and found the Golden Halberd he had dropped just after leaving the starting village.
He swung it down hard at the Warrior Jar's base.
To his surprise, Alexander didn't budge an inch. Instead, he cried out in pain:
"Oh! Oh oh! Wait a moment! That's too much force! I'll crack! Please, a little lighter, just a little bit lighter!" Alexander cried out in pain, his voice sounding somewhat distressed.
"Uh, I got it..."
Lin Luo scratched his head, finding Alexander's cries a bit strange.
So, Lin Luo adjusted his strength, aimed the blunt side of the halberd at Alexander's back, and struck down hard.
Alexander's body let out a crisp crack, and he flew forward abruptly. His round body rolled several times on the ground before finally coming to a stop.
Lin Luo quickly hid the halberd in his storage bag and whistled to himself.
Alexander got up from the ground, covered in dust, and laughed heartily, not seeming to blame Lin Luo for the excessive force.
"Ah, a beautiful strike! So powerful that I almost split in two. Hahahaha. In any case, thanks to your help, I'm free. Thank you. This is my token of gratitude, please accept it."
Alexander handed Lin Luo three Hero's Runes.
Lin Luo naturally didn't stand on ceremony, took the runes, and popped them into his mouth, chewing them vigorously.
He also gave one to Melina, who was standing nearby.
Alexander patted his pot body and continued.
"Oh? You're Tarnished, and this must be your maiden..."
Melina glanced at Alexander in surprise. Well... he seemed to be one of the few people who had gotten it right... The others had all called her Lin Luo's wife...
Why did she feel a little unhappy about that, though...
"No..."
Lin Luo put his arm around Melina. "This is my wife."
Melina lowered her head slightly, not denying it this time.
"Oh, oh, oh... I'm sorry. We pot people don't understand love very well, and I apologize for that."
Alexander said with a hint of apology, but he quickly regained his composure and then said seriously:
"Allow me to reintroduce myself. I am Warrior Jar, 'Iron Fist' Alexander. I am currently heading east to train myself."
"From here on out is the Caelid wastes, which are covered in Scarlet Rot. I also heard that south of the wastes, in Redmane Castle, they're holding a Warrior's Festival. Speaking of which, doesn't the term 'Warrior's Festival' sound exciting? Hahaha."
"I'm heading there right away."
Alexander roared with laughter and said to Lin Luo, "Tarnished, you look strong. If there's a chance, I'll spar with you..."
"As for when, I'm sure we'll meet again if fate allows!"
Alexander let out a few hearty laughs and walked directly towards Caelid.
Melina watched Alexander as he departed, unable to help but comment.
"This jar seems different from the ones I've encountered before..."
Whether in Stormveil Castle or the lakes of Liurnia, Lin Luo had encountered jars, but they seemed devoid of consciousness. Upon encountering the Tarnished, they would charge recklessly until they shattered.
This Alexander, however, was truly one of a kind.
"He's not just a jar, he's a warrior."
Lin Luo heard this and, looking at Alexander's departing back, couldn't help but say it himself.
He climbed back onto Torrent and continued his advance towards Caelid.
With many things to do, Lin Luo planned his next route.
First, he would get the Moonveil Katana, then deal with Dragon Mother Greyoll, head to the Divine Tower to obtain the Godslayer's Greatsword, and finally, defeat Starscourage Radahn and retrieve one of the "legendary weapons" in the castle—the Ruined Greatsword. That would roughly conclude his tour of Caelid.
Oh, right, and there was also that poor girl, Millicent. Once he saved her, he could prepare to head to the Eternal City.
Lin Luo finished his planning, tidied up his thoughts, and set off towards his next objective.
The reason for seeking the Moonveil first was simple: the Moonveil Katana was not far from the border between Limgrave and Caelid, so picking it up along the way would save a lot of time.
