Chapter 26: Tsunade's Private Tutoring
"Nonō, go ahead and get busy. I'll keep an eye on Hikawa for you."
After eating, Tsunade waved her hand and said casually.
"You can't take him to the gambling den."
Yakushi Nonō looked at her with some suspicion and said.
"I won't."
Tsunade crossed her arms and said.
She wouldn't take him, but if Hikawa took the initiative himself, that was another matter.
"Then I'll leave it to you, Tsunade-sama."
Yakushi Nonō thought it over and finally agreed.
She wasn't as free as Tsunade. There were many matters at Konoha Hospital that she had to personally oversee.
"Hikawa."
Yakushi Nonō held three empty bento boxes and said, "Remember to behave. Don't talk back to Tsunade-sama."
"Mm."
Hikawa nodded obediently.
"One more thing."
Yakushi Nonō suddenly remembered something and said, "Don't leave the village for a while."
"Why?"
Hikawa was taken aback and asked curiously.
"There have been multiple cases of missing children around Konoha, many of them newborn infants."
Yakushi Nonō didn't hide it and said directly.
Missing infants?
Hikawa immediately connected it to the surgery Tsunade had performed that morning and Yamanaka Inoichi's attitude.
Add in the timing—could this be the Wood Release Experiment?
In the original story, to replicate Hashirama Senju's invincible Wood Release, Konoha had conducted the Wood Release Experiment. It involved human experimentation using Hashirama Senju's cells, and it was eventually shut down by Sarutobi Hiruzen due to countless deaths.
But Shimura Danzō and Orochimaru continued in secret, eventually successfully creating a Wood Release ninja named Yamato.
"Anyway, just don't leave the village."
Yakushi Nonō said softly, "Konoha has many ninja. No one would dare act inside the village."
"Alright."
Hikawa suppressed his urge to complain and said.
Yakushi Nonō turned and left the office.
"Tsunade-sama, shall I begin?"
Hikawa extended both hands and placed them above the carp, asking.
"Mm."
Tsunade glanced at him and said, "If something's wrong, I'll point it out."
Hikawa took a deep breath, and chakra surged from his hands.
The chakra emitted a warm, faint glow.
Tsunade tapped her fingers lightly on her thigh.
She was thinking about where to borrow money.
Even though she was deep in debt, with her reputation as one of the Konoha Three Ninjas and the Medical Saint, she could always find someone to lend to.
In the war-torn Ninja World, anyone could get hurt, and that was when a good Medical Ninja was needed.
"I'm stepping out for a bit."
Tsunade quickly found her target.
Hikawa nodded slightly.
But to his surprise, she returned in less than ten minutes.
A smile hung on her face, clearly in a good mood.
No need to guess—she'd definitely found some money.
"Your posture is wrong."
She walked up to him, reached out, and raised his arm a little higher.
Hikawa instinctively looked up, but his view was blocked by a shadow like a snow-capped mountain, completely hiding her face.
"Focus."
Tsunade-sama reminded him.
Hikawa turned off the aim assist and continued practicing.
With Tsunade's help, his progress bar had grown quite a bit.
Two hours later, it had already reached 15%.
Tsunade-sama's private guidance was truly impressive.
"Can you still go on?"
Tsunade sized him up and asked.
"My Chakra is almost spent."
Hikawa put away the scroll and said, "Let's go to the casino."
Tsunade perked up, her pretty face brimming with eagerness.
Under her lead, Hikawa arrived at a casino in the Ninja World.
Having lived two lives, this was still his first time entering a casino.
Browsing the web and accidentally clicking into an online casino didn't count.
"Tsunade-sama."
A young man at the casino entrance blocked them and said, "According to regulations, children aren't allowed inside."
"Is that so?"
Tsunade raised her hand and clenched it sharply.
The trembling air startled the young man, making him step back, his face pale.
"P-Please, come in..."
The young man quickly put on a fawning smile and said.
That punch carried thirty years of training—he couldn't withstand it.
The moment Tsunade entered the casino, she drew everyone's gaze, their eyes practically flashing with the symbol of money.
The reason was simple.
The legendary Big Fat Sheep—anyone who frequented casinos knew Tsunade by that title.
As for Hikawa, he was automatically ignored.
Coming to the casino was about winning money; everything else was irrelevant.
Hikawa looked around.
The Ninja World casino resembled an early-era arcade hall.
On the left were various electronic gambling machines, on the right were betting tables where crowds gathered to place bets—unfortunately, there were no sexy dealers.
"Make a spot for Tsunade-sama."
The young dealer said with a smile.
The money delivery had arrived.
Instantly, an argument broke out around the betting table.
Everyone wanted to be at the same table as Tsunade.
Trouble!
Hikawa spotted a major problem.
Because of his height, he couldn't see the betting table at all.
Just as he was about to find a stool, he felt his body lighten as he was lifted up.
A faint fragrance wafted around.
Hikawa blinked.
It only dawned on him when he was sitting on Tsunade's lap.
"Alright, let's begin."
Tsunade held Hikawa with one arm, leaning forward with a serious expression.
How was he supposed to focus with that kind of pressure?
Hikawa felt the soft weight pressing against the top of his head.
He steadied himself and, after getting a clear look at the betting table, found it headache-inducing.
This wasn't a simple bet on high or low—it was a roulette wheel with thirty-seven slots.
Single-number bets, red or black, odd or even, high or low—all were possible.
The odds ranged from high to low accordingly.
Betting on a single number could yield the biggest payout.
But it all comes down to luck.
Hikawa figured his luck couldn't be that bad—after all, he'd even managed to be reborn.
And no matter how bad it got, it couldn't be worse than Tsunade's.
With any normal luck, you wouldn't lose everything down to the last coin.
"Bet on black."
Hikawa watched Tsunade place her chips on red and quickly spoke up.
"Alright then."
Tsunade thought for a moment, then moved her bet to the black square.
"Bets are placed, hands off."
The young croupier spun the roulette wheel and announced.
A few seconds later, the result came out—black square.
"I actually won?!"
Tsunade froze, then couldn't help hugging Hikawa in excitement.
"I... can't... can't breathe..."
Caught off guard, Hikawa felt as if two great mountains had suddenly collapsed on him.
"Again!"
Tsunade let him go, her face full of confidence. "I'm definitely winning it back today!"
No, the goddess of fortune is clearly smiling at me.
Hikawa perked up.
While enjoying his role as a human seat, he helped Tsunade strategize.
It wasn't a perfect hit every time, but at least after eliminating one wrong answer, the odds of winning went up considerably.
Three hours later, the two of them had made a small profit of three hundred thousand ryo.
Not a huge amount—less than a third of an S-rank mission's reward.
But for Tsunade, it was an unprecedented first.
Her luck, tempered by Hikawa's presence, had become normal.
"Let's go!"
Tsunade patted Hikawa on the shoulder. "My treat—I'm taking you out for roast chicken!"
