Empty, hollow, too grand—and thus stripped of all power. It was more like some child who did not understand what they were saying, casually blurting out an idle boast.
Because they had no idea what they were talking about, nor how much effort it would take to accomplish such a thing, it was no different from saying, "I want to become the best in the world!" or "I want to become a world-famous great scientist!" No one who heard such words would take them seriously.
Most people, as they grew up and came to understand the vastness of the world and the limits of their own abilities, would smile helplessly at the boasts of their childhood. That was not choosing to descend into mediocrity, but a kind of calm acceptance... If something truly could not be done, then there was no need to make things difficult for oneself.
But changing the world was happening every moment.
Even those who had never taken those words seriously, even those who had forgotten their original intentions and dreams, those who considered themselves ordinary and never thought about grand issues—they, too, were changing the world.
Because the world was a vast collection, and changing oneself was changing the world... Though it was minuscule, if everyone changed themselves, then the world would without question undergo a complete transformation.
When history reached a turning point, when the old world was nearing its end, a new world would be created, and a new order would undergo renewal.
This was inevitable. Whether it was good or bad, change was taking place, and it would never cease.
Just like fate.
