And since his master had gone missing after meeting with disaster, he had seen his Grandmaster only three times.

The first time, True Monarch Biying had asked him whether his master, True Person Suran, had told him where in the Extreme Northern Ice Plains he was going. Bai Luo did know, and after giving him a place name, he watched his Grandmaster hurry off without another word.

The second time was when his Grandmaster summoned all the Senior Uncles and other True Disciple senior brothers from Weichen Peak. Looking haggard, his Grandmaster had asked whether, if his master had already fallen, he would be willing to follow another of his Senior Uncles. They had all promised to treat him well, as if he were their own.

Bai Luo barely remembered how he had felt then. He had long suspected the truth, and when he heard the news, he fell silent for a while before answering, "I'm willing, but there's no need."

If his Grandmaster demanded it, he would do it. But if there was no such demand, then he was True Person Suran's disciple. He would cultivate, grow stronger, fight, and take revenge in that name.

At True Monarch Biying's signal, Bai Luo left the increasingly strange gates of the Mingjing Sect and went to Red Tower City, an unassuming but well-built city on the outskirts of the sect's territory. There, he became its city lord, out of the public eye.

The third time was when Bai Luo returned to the Mingjing Sect with An Jing and was summoned by his Grandmaster.
