It was a silent, dim forest.

There wasn't a trace of Gray Fog here. All over the ground, things grew that gave off a white light.

At first glance, they seemed to be some kind of fungus.

"Sunlight Mushrooms."

Through the thin White Mist, Colin recognized them at once.

The white mushrooms gave off a faint glow, making the place seem not too dark. There was an eerie, otherworldly kind of beauty to the quiet.

But when Colin and the others actually entered the area and saw the forest clearly by the light of their Hurricane Lamps, their hearts skipped a beat.

The trees grew in a twisted, savage, wild way. The best way to describe them was that they looked ready to lash out.

Every single tree was crooked and twisted, strange and terrifying.

And they didn't look dead, either. They seemed to be in a sickly, withered state.

For a moment, Colin thought of the famous painting called The Scream.

Then, for some reason, he looked behind him and saw that the way back was already blocked by great swaths of twisted trees.

The White Mist had disappeared.

Colin frowned. That meant their way back was cut off.

"Doesn't look that difficult?"

Colin glanced around. The forest didn't seem especially large, and the outlines of mountains were faintly visible in the darkness.

Colin jerked his head up. His gaze tightened as he saw no rocky ceiling overhead, only an expanse of mist stretching endlessly upward.
