One Against A Hundred

Modu Gymnasium.

It could be considered one of Modu's iconic buildings.

The Doomsday Game had a rule that special circumstances would arise in a city's iconic buildings.

For example, Dungeons might appear.

For example, there might be hidden merchant robots.

For example, wild treasure chests might be found.

As far as Lin Zhiluo knew, there was a Silver Grade wild treasure chest in Modu Gymnasium.

It was called a wild treasure chest

because they were scattered all over the place and anyone could open them.

By contrast, there were BOSS treasure chests, which only dropped after you killed a BOSS.

Although they were more valuable than wild treasure chests, they were much harder to obtain.

Even so, a Silver Treasure Chest was guaranteed to contain one Silver Grade piece of equipment or item, along with other things.

Given Lin Zhiluo's current situation, getting a Silver Grade piece of equipment would make his strength improve by leaps and bounds.

With that in mind, Lin Zhiluo decided to look for a side entrance into the gymnasium.

The main entrance was out of the question. There were at least dozens of zombies guarding it.

Just then, the [Doomsday Game Cheat System], which had been working behind the scenes but hadn't made an appearance in a long time, suddenly chimed.

"Ding. The host is about to enter 'Modu Gymnasium.'"

"Ding. Modu Gymnasium meets the mission requirements."

"Ding. The mission 'One Against A Hundred' has been issued."

[One Against A Hundred]: An outstanding host needs to show off his strength. Please kill one hundred zombies inside Modu Gymnasium. Any level will do.

Mission Requirements: 0/100

Mission Reward: Draw one random ordinary Golden Finger and receive one Bronze Grade piece of equipment.

Time Limit: 24 hours

"Ding. Would the host like to accept the mission?"

Lin Zhiluo frowned.

One hundred zombies!

By the second afternoon of the Doomsday Game, most zombies had already reached level two.

They were somewhat stronger than level-one zombies.

And that wasn't even considering that the gymnasium was such a spacious place.

The slightest commotion could draw a large number of zombies.

Lin Zhiluo's original plan was to avoid places with large numbers of zombies, rely on his own ability to stay hidden, and simply open the treasure chest.

But now, with this mission...

Fortunately, the time limit was a full day, so he had plenty of time.

To be safe, however, Lin Zhiluo still asked, "What are the penalties for refusing the mission or failing it?"

"Ding. Rest assured, host. The Golden Finger System exists to provide you with a better gaming experience and let you enjoy the game."

"Ding. Therefore, there will be no penalty for refusing or failing a mission. Instead, you will receive a consolation package of 100 Gold Coins."

"Holy crap!" Lin Zhiluo was stunned.

This really was about giving him a better gaming experience.

He'd get a consolation package even if he refused the mission.

He knew so many places where missions could be triggered.

If he kept refusing missions, he could make a fortune in Gold Coins without lifting a finger.

With that thought, Lin Zhiluo accepted the mission without hesitation.

Completing it would get him one ordinary Golden Finger and one Bronze Grade piece of equipment.

He'd already seen how powerful a Super Golden Finger was: it could boost a mere 1% drop rate to 100%.

Could an ordinary Golden Finger make every zombie drop two items instead of one?

And he wouldn't lose out even if he failed. He was already here to open the Silver Treasure Chest, and he'd still get a hundred Gold Coins for free.

"Ding. Mission 'One Against A Hundred' accepted. Best of luck completing it, host."

After accepting the mission, Lin Zhiluo didn't hurry into the gymnasium.

Instead, he studied the floor plan posted by the entrance and began planning his approach.

"From what I remember, the Silver Treasure Chest should be in the storage room on the third floor."

"But there isn't nearly enough time to get there today. I'll just clear out some of the zombies today."

"I'll enter through the side door, then fight my way up the first floor via the emergency stairs."

"I should reach the infirmary on the second floor around eight, just as night falls."

"There are beds in the infirmary. I'll sleep there for the night, then continue fighting my way up tomorrow."

"I should reach the third-floor storage room around noon tomorrow. Then I'll open the chest, jump down along the outside edge of the floors, and make my getaway."

After studying the map just once, Lin Zhiluo had already worked out the whole route and planned his every move.

Once he had everything figured out, he didn't want to waste any more time. His sharp Tang Dao appeared in his hand.

Then he gently picked the lock on the side door at the back of the gymnasium and pushed it open.

A zombie with a blood-covered face stood right behind the door.

Lin Zhiluo had just pushed it open and was about to check the situation when he froze.

Holy crap, what a lucky start!

What was this zombie doing, just standing by the gym's back door?

The man and the zombie stared at each other, eyes wide.

The zombie came to its senses, opened its mouth, and was about to let out a roar.

Lin Zhiluo immediately struck.

Before the zombie could make a sound, he thrust the tip of his Tang Dao into its open mouth.

The sharp blade pierced right through the zombie's mouth and emerged from the back of its neck.

That left the zombie no chance to make a sound.

Then Lin Zhiluo pulled out the hammer he'd kept earlier with his other hand.

He swung it straight into the zombie's face.

Blood sprayed everywhere.

Now the zombie had lost any chance of roaring.

Lin Zhiluo pulled out his Tang Dao and finished off the zombie with a quick slash.

"Death" appeared.

"Whew, that was close. If it had managed to roar, I wouldn't have been prepared for anything. I'd have had no choice but to make a strategic retreat." Lin Zhiluo let out a sigh of relief.

"But this zombie got its money's worth. I gave it a special examination with my Tang Dao. That would've cost extra at a hospital."

"And I gave it a little facial reconstruction with the 'Little Hammer Forty.' That would've cost extra too."

Lin Zhiluo thought happily.

The zombie lying on the ground had no idea that even after being killed, it was now buried under a mountain of debt.

Still, the fallen zombie had made a contribution.

A glowing blue item appeared underneath it.

Lin Zhiluo kicked the corpse aside and picked up the item.

[Super Flashbang]: A one-time-use Bronze Grade item that releases a dazzling white light, putting anyone who sees it into a "blind" state. The duration of blindness depends on how long they see the light and how sensitive they are to it.

Not bad! This was a good item too!

It would be an outstanding crowd-control item for the raid on Li Family Manor tomorrow night.

Lin Zhiluo was very pleased as he tucked the Super Flashbang into his Storage Space.

The back entrance of the gymnasium was more or less a small storage room.

To actually get inside, he still had to open the inner door of the storage room.

Lin Zhiluo felt around the zombie's waist and, sure enough, found a key.
